Unable to open Attachments without safe before it
Hi all I have problem to open any types of attachments in a ticket. If i want to open a attachment i must safe the attachment and then i can open it. When i try to open the attachment directly with the button open and if this file is a .txt file i get the message that the file was not found, want to create a new file ? When i try to open a .jpg my program will be started but not the .jpg file Any suggestion ? Thx, Andreas
Juddery screen when viewing through browser.
Hi all, Strange one, this. When viewing and navigating around the helpdesk system via web-browser (IE6), we start getting the screen juddering up and down. This is happening for both technicians on separate machines. It only happens on the Helpdesk. Any ideas what might be causing this? Many thanks.
Opening attachments in a case - doesn't work
Hi, when I try to open an attachment (usually a screen shot sent via e-mail) from within a helpdesk case, it won't open. The dialogue box appears asking me to Open, Save or Cancel, but if I hit Open, nothing happens. Saving the attachment to my desktop is a work-around as that's fine, but why doesn't the attachment open as it should? Many thanks.
Possible Agent to scan PC
I know that ServiceDesk and OPManager both use WMI to help with the scanning of PCs. I was wondering if in the road map you will have an agent that can be installed on the PCs instead of agentless. I like the feature of agentless but I don't like the headache of all the stuff you have to do to get it working. I would like to see an agent that listens on a specific port. Then I can allow that port in the windows firewall and I would be done. Thank You, Steve
Administrator login using active directory
When I enable Active Directory authentication, the domain login only recognizes an account named administrator as an admin. I need to have the software pick up the rights associated with each AD account. For example, If Jane Doe has administrative rights across the domain, then I want the software to allow the admin view upon authentication. Please help

Inventory Scan
We're currently looking for an "agentless" software inventory/audit application, and I'm taking a look at ServiceDesk. My question is, when you schedule a scan, how does that handle say remote machines? If we have a lot of remote users that connect via VPN, I'm assuming if the machines aren't on during the scan time they will be skipped. Is there anyway around that? I'm going to assume this maybe the biggest downside to an "agentless" application.

How do you receive a purchase order to convert the items to workstations and not assets? Isn't a workstation just a specialized version of an asset?
How to set the domain scan
Well, I'm starting to get real tired. I cant get the domain scan to work any longer in V5, worked just fine in V4, this is just the computers whiut xp sp2. Your documention is not right, in the program it says that COM and DCOM must be started in the client, and WMI services in the "server". In your online documention it says just WMI service needs to be enabled in both the server and the client. Remote DCOM should be enabled in both the server and the client. and I got an e-mail where you say that

performing "new scan"
I have done a "domain scan" and picked up a great deal of our workstations, but now am trying to do a scan of a single workstation not previously captured... I enter the IP number of that workstation and everytime I hit scan it comes back and says "Please enter workstation name to scan" - but I don't know the workstation name, just the IP number?? thanks

Enabling Self-Service Portal Logon for Active Directory User
After importing our users from Active Diretory into Service Desk plus Free Version, the option for self service portal username and password are not there. It is not that they are greyed out, that part of the form is missing. Is this by design?
Why do my e-mail url's not show as a link?
Hi all, I have just installed and am setting up Service Desk 5. I want technicians to see the URL of the case when notified. That works but the URL does not appear as a link in the mail, just as text. I'm running Office 2003 with Exchange 2000. I can't see anywhere in the Admin of Service Desk that specifies to send as an HTML (if that's the issue). Could really do with some help as without the URL, viewing cases is a real pain. technician able to close requests
I have just licensed and installed SD+5 and am only beginning to configure it and fully test it. (just did a very brief peek at the trial version and liked it!!) starting with just one 'request' I was attempting to see the process my technicians would use to complete the jobs... first, is there a way for all open requests to be seen by all technicians and allow them to "self assign" to the request... in other words, all technicians do all types of calls, so auto channeling network problems to technician

Service Desk on system with multiple IP Addresses

Active directory users not allowed on Self Service Portal.
Hi, I have imported domain/ active directory users in my Servicedesk. But these users are not allowed to login on Self Service Portal. When I switch to Sevicedesk authentication and assign a password, the requestor is allowed to login. As soon as I change the authentication to active directory the user is not allowed to login on self service portal. Any idea why...? Thanks.

Dear Support I am currently evaluating your excellent product. As a Technician is it possible to view in one place all the items (requests, assets, etc) for a particular Requestor (similar to if I logged in as that Requestor)? On the same theme, when logging in as a Requestor, I cannot see all the assets assigned to me the Requestor. Is this possible? Requester Issue
I have been running SDP through a bunch of scenarios and have discovered what I believe is a couple of bugs. 1. If I delete a requester ID then recreate it with the same info SDP will fail to create the requester ID. (I haven't found a fix for this) 2. I pasted some HTML code in the "acknowledge requester reply template" and found that SDP was not able to format the email as expected. Further more the "fix" was to remove and reinstall SDP. Permissions issue...can't send e-mail
I set up a new role for our Techs, called it SDTech...only gave them full control on Requests. They can do everything they need to with the requests/tickets except send email...they get send mail failed error. However, if I give them the SDAdmin role(default role) it works fine. Which permission needs to be enabled to send mail? Is this a bug? Thanks,
Export SD+4 Info for Fresh SD+5 Install?
Our self-imposed time-limit has come (December 9) for backing out of our recent purchase and install of SD+4. Anybody know of a way to export SD+4 data so that we can import it into SD+5? We would like to do this right away so we can start taking advantage of SD+5 features (We only have about 3 weeks stored data and will re-create the rest). new install problems
I get this in my event logs when i go to fire up the servicedesk application on a Windows 2003 Server. "Can't open and lock time zone table: Table 'mysql.time_zone_leap_second' doesn't exist trying to live without them" any suggestions?
Unable to delete Requesters
When I imported from AD I got some users that are no longer at the organization. When I go to delete them I get the following message: type Status report message Invalid path /http://localhost:8080/SearchRequester was requested description The request sent by the client was syntactically incorrect (Invalid path /http://localhost:8080/SearchRequester was requested). Unable to get SD+ to pull email from Exchange 5.5
The username/password in mail server settings succeed. Even though there are several email in the exhchange mailbox, no requests ever get generated by them? What am I doing wrong?

Remove My Tasks / My Details tab
Couple questions: 1) Is there a way to remove the My Tasks section and the My Details tab from the Requester view? 2) Is there a way to have an automatic resolution of the requester's username when they enter a quick request? So, they type in their first and last name and ServiceDesk auto resolves it from the list of requesters when they hit Save. Love the product so far. Thanks. -John

As an existing reg user of SD4 (and others from your range) , it goes without saying this is a great product and SD5 should be even better. However the endless lack of clarity and communication from Adventnet is beginning to wear very thin. As several commentators have postulated , release date slippage is nothing new in this business. Significantly , there is NO meaningful communication about the future of the product . 1) No Upgrade Pack for the product , When , How , Limitations etc 2) Bug Fix

Can't change admin password

Setting up Service Desk on a server to be remote accessible
Ok, I may seem stupid when I say that I'm new to web servers, but I've been assigned to find out how to set up Service Desk Plus on a server in our network and make it remote accessible to groups we service without having to enter the box through remote desktop connection. Mail Server Settings not Pulling emails
I just downloaded SD5 for evaluation. I've setup a mailbox on Exchange 5.5 and configured the Mail Server Settings in SD5. I get a successful test and start fetching. I never get any email into the Requests queue even though I can see email coming into the mailbox on Exchange. I've tried POP and IMAP to no avail. any suggestions? Thanks
