Linux Push Script
Quick question. I was poking around and unable to find anything very easily. I was curious if anyone has previously looked into writing a script that would push information from a linux host much like the ae_script pushes information from a Windows based box. Anyone write one? or is there possibly one in the works?
Backup sticks at 50%
Trying to run a manual DB backup using "backupdata.bat" - Job starts then stops at 50%, java.exe then goes through the roof at 99% CPU.
Old hyperlink showing up in notifications
I changed the path to the SDP portal, and then went into all of the notification templates and changed the hyperlinks to make sure they point to the correct place. However, it is still sometimes putting the old link in there (which goes nowhere now; causing the user to contact me about the link). What's up with that?
How to Change the default domain

Active Directory Sync-Version 7.5.0-Build 7509
Since moving to version 7.5 (~4-6 months ago) the active directory synchronization process has not been working...pass-thru authentication appears to be fine, but neither new users nor changes to existing users are showing up. I have verified that the domain controller is accessible and have tried the process against multiple DC's. I had hoped that 7509 would resolve the issue, but it doesn't appear that it has. All of a sudden, e-mail notifications are no longer working in SDP. I check the log and it just says... System Log Message : Exception while trying to send notification for the request. Forwarding calls from Service Desk

Double Group Email
Hello All, I have a weird problem. In notification rules i have ticked the "Alert Group members by email, when a request is assigned to the group" and have set up the template. Also in the particular group options i have ticked the "Send notification to group techs when a new request is added to this group", selected all members of the group and have filled in the Group Email address. Blank page when accessing site
Hello, We recently upgraded to 5.5 build 9 from 5.5, and I cannot access our site if I use just the servername, i.e. http://servicedesk1 if I use the FQDN it seems to work for me, but not for other technicians. This is if IE 7 or 8 is used. In Firefox, if i access just the server name, it prompts for a login, then sends you to a blank page at: http://servicedesk1/j_security_check is there a problem with some sort of authentication? 7022 to 7500 Issue
Is there a common fix for the error "no primary or candidate keys in the referenced table'... when migrating from 7022 to 7500? All of the Adventnet KB's suggest calling Adventnet directly to correct the problem. Because of the amount of downtime involved, in our case that’s not ideal. The upgrade can only be performed at very unsociable hours. Please advise

Stop non-requesters from submitting tickets via Email
How do I stop ServiceDesk Plus from creating a ticket that is sent via email from someone who is not in the requesters list? I have both Dynamic User Addition and User Login Addition set to No but that makes no difference.
email requests arrive with no subject nor requester
ServiceDesk version 7.0.0, build 7017 Just now set up inbound email fetching. POP server is an AIX box. Send an email to the helpdesk email account on that box. Upon fetch, a request is created, and the body of the email is loaded as the body of the request, but instead of the email's subject as request subject, we get "Not Provided" as a request subject. problems upgrading 7022 to 7.5
Hello, We are experiencing some difficulties upgrading from 7022 to 7.5. We wanted to upgrade from 6.0 to 7.5. Everything went fine till the upgrade from 7022 to 7.5. We tested 7022 and that version was ok. But with the update procedure to 7.5 we got an error saing the data could not be backed up. We then used the backupdata.bat and mssql to backup our data.The next thing we did was an reinstall of sd+. - stop sdp service - uninstall servicedesk - delete database from mssql - delete the local installation
Solutions - the editor is just going crazy
After the new layout for Solutions the Editor is hopless. The Bulleted lists, line spaces, some fonts etc. looks fine in editing mode, but is disappearing when saving. We are now working with the Configuration Management and this is very, very, very confusing. We can't go on with this any longer, I was sure it would be fixed in 7509. Waiting...
AD import - exceptions for specific accounts/groups?
Hi is it possible to restrict or add an exception list to the user list that is imported from AD On our AD configuration we have Exchange mailboxes listed as user accounts and at the moment these accounts are being imported into Service Desk is there any way that I can control what AD data is imported? SD Server has multiple ip addresses. Server is registering to wrong ip.
Is there anyway to lock SD plus to a certain ip address on the server? It seems the server is attaching to all ip addresses on the server. Thanks. -nick
No notification sent by SLA
Hi, I looked through the posts but none of them could help me. I'm currently running the demo version of ServiceDeskPlus. Now I'm testing the SLA functionality and so I created my own SLA (see picture below). As you can see the time limits are very short for testing purposes. The resolution time is set according to the sla. All technicians are associated with the right site. But I don't get any sla notifications. Other notifications (for example "request resolved") are working, so it's not the server.
New users with SD+ have some question

Cannot delete items from Assets list
Hi, I imported our printers in a csv format but for some reason it has imported them into "product type". When i try to delete them from product type it says it is being used by a module hence cannot delete it. It was meant in import into the asset printers not into assets itself. I have attached a word document with a screenshot of where the printers are listed in Assets and the error i get when i try to delete them. Thanks.
No option for attachments in Resolution
Hi SD Plus tech, Problem: Attachments in Solutions will not filter to Resolution description area. I have serveral solution documents (.pdf) that have screen shoots. While building the the Knowledge Base, I used the Attachment feature for documentation. While in Resolutions, I click Search Solutions, find the solution, click Copy to Resolution, however the attachment with the instructions for the problem does not appear. We import requester details from Active Directory. For some reason on Friday evening this reverted from the users full name i.e. Joe Bloggs to the users login name i.e. jbloggs. Is there anywhere within the admin module that manages the fields and the mapping to active directory? Cheers.
Tech is unable to login
Hi There I have a SD tech who is unable to login. Error msg says incorrect username and password. I have tried to reset the password, and the SD application says that the password has been reset sucessfully. block requesters from selecting technician
I sit possible to block requesters from selecting a technician when opening a new request, and just letting the rules select it automatically? Our users have a habit of selecting the wrong technician for the wrong category.
API - Request Template Problem
When applying the template via the API, none of the text that is already in the description field is added to the request. In the request template, I have added preformatted text in the description field, and need that text to be added to the request. Thoughts?
Windows Domain Scan Problem 7.5
Ever since upgrading to 7.5 we cannot do a Windows Domain Scan. We are using the exact same information as in Domain, User\Pass and Domain Controller as we were using in 7022. We get the following error when we try to run the scan: Exception occured while enumerating Oraganizational Units Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Loris
Outgoing mail does not get sent when tickets are assigned, updated, or closed.
We are running the current version of ServiceDesk plus (version 7509). Although the settings are in place, no email gets sent when a ticket is assigned to a technician or when the ticket is updated or closed. We are running Exchange 2007. It worked fine in the past. Incoming email works fine, so I don't think it is a authentication error. Any ideas?
Request Templates missing from latest release
Hi, I'm not sure how many revisions ago this happened - if indeed it's deliberate. But the Request Template facility is missing from 7509. Notably the "Request" image on the main page is missing the drop-down option (see attached). Is this restrictred to my particular installation?
How to send and recieve notifications with a 2007 exchange server
Hi all, I have setup the latest version of Service Desk Plus and have tried to configure our mail server settings to send and recieve mail relating to Service Desk plus. We use a managed service provider for our high level infrastructure so I dont have control or a strong understanding of our backend. Do I need to do anything to enable the ServiceDesk API?
I am trying to use the API, and have followed the guide, but when I use the URL specified I just get an Apache 404 error. Changing requesters views does not work.
We set our department heads and directors with the ability to view all requests for their department but it seems that after a few hours (approximately 24) it keeps reverting to show only their own requests. Please advise if there is a fix for this or will there be one as it is quite annoying.
Changing the URL for the approval link
Hi, I am planning to publish SD over the internet. I notice that the approval link sent to the approvers has the NetBIOS name of the server where SD is resolved. Can that be changed to an URL like helpdesk.mycompany.com so that it can be accessible over the internet ? Thanks in advance for any suggestions on a solution. Cheers
