70132 Patch - Issue
Hi, I installed the new patch, and was eager to try out the new feature "Automate Software Deployment using Pre-Defined Templates." However, when it downloaded the files, it did not place them in my selected Network Share (see attached image). My share is configured using the option "Create a Network Share."
DS Status - Yet to Install - Even After Installing the Distribution Server in Remote Office
DS Status in Remote office is listed as "Yet to Install" I have installed the agent for Remote Office Distribution Server without any errors. WAN Agents on Remote location was installed successfully as well. Any clues on why this would happen?
Problem using DistributionServer

Prohibited Software User Notification
Build No : 70127 I add [sampleApp] to the prohibited software list. (*note- [sampleApp] is not set up in the Software Package Repository.) [sampleApp] is .exe based. Managing both On-Domain and Off-Domain PCs with DC?
Our office uses mostly On-Domain PCs, but has a handful of Off-Domain "Guest" PCs that we would like to manage using DC as well. The agent is installed, and they do report back in, but it is difficult to initiate actions with them proactively (such as scanning, rebooting, etc.) because the credentials used for the On-Domain PCs do not work with the Off-Domain ones. Is there a way to manage the credentials for the Off-Domain PCs separately, so that they can be fully functional with DC? Thank you!
Running an .exe-based installer on the logged in users desktop
Hi. I am now deploying an exe-based driverpack to a computer managed by desktop central. It seems to work allright. However, as the driverpack installation is interactive (it shows a progress bar), the following pops up: After clicking "vis meldingen" ("show message") , a new seperate desktop with only that progress bar (no other windows) etc shows up. Hi, i'm trying the Desktop Central software in a test enviroment. I've deployed remotly the agent on a Windows7 and on a WinXp machines, after i created an "install patches" jobs, no patches were deployed in the clients, after inspecting the logs i discovered that the agent was trying to download the patches in a "patches" directory, under the agent installation tree, that was not present. Can not delete custom report
I created a custom report in Desktop Central but now when I go to delete it via the red x it will not work and displays "error on page" . Does anyone have any suggestions on how to delete the reports? I am using IE 8 in compatibility view. Thanks!
Managing 40 different sites / 3500 users
So In our company, we have about 40 geographically separate locations, with a total of about 3500 users and about as many computers. Setting up a distribution server for each of those locations would be quite tiresome and not possible on many of those locations. Instructions for setting up a remote database?
We have purchased ServiceDesk+ and DestopCentral Enterprise edition. Is there a way these two can use the same database? Or would there have to be two separate databases? Are there instructions on either of these set ups? We are waiting to get these installed but want to plan it out the best possible way. Thanks.
"Redeploy" in Software Deployment
It would be nice to have a "redeploy" option for a configuration -- specifically for redeploying to the computers that failed the first time. There may be an easier way to do it -- but right now, I filter by "Failed" status, cut & paste the results to Excel, and delete everything but the computer names. Desktop Central error after update 70127
After I did the last update for the build #70127, all graphs and counters are messed up. For instance: inside any configurations previously (or even a new one) saved, the graph summary indicates 1 Success, but the list below shows me a lot "succeded" in Status. I think this is related to a bug during the updating, as if the DB wasn´t closed properly. How could I solve this ASAP? Any report I generate is wrong, for old or new configurations. Manage Licenses
Does anyone know why SnagIT version 10 does not show up on the product list when I try to add the license information for this software to Desktop Central? When I go into the software inventory, I can find the installed software without issue, so why is it not listed on the product list? All the other versions of SnagIT we have installed are listed. I added an attachment so you can see what I see when trying to add it to the licenses. Thanks.
Controlling a users desktop that have several monitors
I have now tested the remote desktop central functionality in icluded in desktop central. I now tested against a computer that have several monitors. I can only see one monitor though. How can I toggle viewing the other?
Desktop Central upgrade error
Hi Team we upgraded DesktopCentral to latest Hotfix 70127, but after upgrade, the message on the Login says you need to upgrade to 70127, but upgrade manager gives 70127 hotfix as applied. Keeping the Desktop Central folder a manageable size
Hello, we are running Desktop Central on a VM. We have not allocated much disk space to the install. I've noticed that DTC saves info in the DesktopCentral_Server folder that takes up a large amount of disk space. Particularly the 'PatchBackup' folder. The 'Patch' folder is also several hundred megabytes and appears to just contain folders holding data for that particular patch. Can this info be safely deleted? I know I could back it up to another server or drive, but it takes a while to copy
Difference between Desktop Central And MSP Edition
I am testing the software for one of our small customers. I am trying to determine the differences between the 2 versions. I have a working installation of Desktop Central 7 trial currently but was hesitant to install the MSP edition because it seems to list the exact same feature set.
USB security with Desktop Central 7
We run Windows XP SP3 and use desktop central to restrict the use of flash drives on client pcs. On one client pc we have been getting events logged to USB/PORT Security Events. One is EventId: 4112, Source: EmbargoSvc; Event type: Error; Description: The USB/Port Security Service was unable to allocate memory for a required operation. Discrepency between Patch Management and Microsoft Update
I am having trouble understanding why Patch Management says that some of my machines need a patch, but that patch is not detected by Microsoft Update. For example, Patch Management is reporting that 7 of my servers need kb983582, however if I go to Microsoft update, it it not showing there. How come?
Customized Patch Report
Hi There "vulnerable patch scan" I need a customized report that show total number of missing patches for a given group of servers. It should not show all missing "MS Patches" but all missing "Windows Server 2003, Enterprise SP2" patches in a List. So that I see Server1 missing 2 Server2 missing 12... Why the 'The network is not present or not started' message isn't appropriate in a specific situation?
Hi, I tried to copy a folder in a domain environment to several PCs' C:\Program Files folder, but received the above error message in Desktop Central about Win7 machines (on XPs was all fine). I tried everything about network and firewall without success. Checked the Workstation service status as well as it was suggested by Help. It was all OK, but the copying still not working. I thought it could be some kind of permission related issue. The domain user I used to log in was member of domain admins

Prior Version Download
I need to download the last version, prior to the latest hotfix. I think the build was 70108. I had my server die on me and all of my backups of data are from this version. I cannot find my executable for the prior version and anything I download now, tells me that my DB version is not compatible when I try to restore my DB. Is there somewhere I can download prior versions so I can restore my DB then update to the latest after a restore? Thanks, Kevin
