Agent Tray Icon Selective Install

The admin wants DC to be as transparent to the user community as possible, but would like to take advantage of the help desk/ticket capability offered via the tray icon on a few select machines.
Is this showing/hiding of the Agent Tray Icon all or nothing?
Am I missing where this capability exists in DC?
I am thinking perhaps manually changing a setting in one of the XML files on the client in <install directory>\DesktopCentral_agent\data\, adding a task to system startup, making a change to a registry key, or similar will be required, but haven't come across anything that stands out as yet.
