How would I use this program to monitor possible network issues like loops and bad switches? Can it be set to not notify if a port is not being used on a switch? Thanks for the help and response
OpManager MSP SSL
I recently installed MSP onto a public facing server and the install appeared to go very well. I assigned the default port (443) to be used for SSL on the central server. When I attempt to install a probe at a clients I cannot use port 443 as they use SBS 2003 based machines an port 443 is already in use by OWA, RWW, etc. So I need to assign another port. I did this on the probe machine but the probe will not register back at the central server. I assume that the ports need to be identical at both

How do you change the display name of a switch port?
I have a switch that is reporting all its ports as "Ethernet Interface" this becomes cumbersome when attempting to identify specific ports when mapping. Is there a way to change the display name of an individual switch port?
opmanager and servicedesk error
Hi, I registered ServiceDesk in Opmanager as addon succesfully, I then added an asset in servicedesk with name "test1" and a server in opmanager with name "test1", but when in Opmanager I try to use servicedesk tab to see fields of "test1" I get: " Unable to fetch Asset Details from ServiceDeskPlus. Check whether the device is added in ServiceDeskPlus Check whether the ServiceDeskPlus Server is running " But ServiceDesk is running. What is the correct way to associate items between both applications?
Error on installing update (from 6002 to 6010)

Custom Monitor Error
Great Product - love it! I was setting up Custom Monitors and in the process of adding and removing ones I messed up on I started getting an "Error!" message in the main window whenever I click on "Custom Monitors" What can I do to fix this issue and be able to use custom monitors? Thanks Dan
Active Directory monitor incomplete?
According to AD monitor, I don't have an Infrastructure Master, RID Master, Domain Naming Master, a Schema Master or any LDAP activity at all. there is also a lot of other information showing N/A. This has been running about 8 hours so far....if you fix the functionality i'll probably purchase the add-on, it looks very useful.
Changes in SysDescription in Device snapshot
Hi all, I've the following situation here. The firmware version of several devices appear in the Device Snapshot in the Sys Desc: field. I recently performed an upgrade of firmware versions of 16 devices. Though becoming a little essential for our maintenance the change of the firmware version isn't displayed anywhere. I'm reluctant to delete/re-add the device since the last time I did something like that I lost the history for that device. I'm also a little afraid to do a Rediscovery of the device
Monitor Internet availability?
We run OpManager MSP edition and we have a client who is having issues with internet/VPN connections dropping. It isn't enough to result in a probe down error, but they lose enough packets that their remote access and site-to-site VPN connections drop. Hi Has anyone ever changed the IP address of the: -central server -the probes in OpManager MSP. I know everthing specifiedy by FQDN but I have to move the central OpManager MSP server onto another subnet and was wondering if this would break anything. I am trying to use the MIB browser to vew an OID Example: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.8.1.101.1 I get the error..... "Request failed or timed out. No error" When I try to use a different tool to get this it returns the information correctly. What am I doing wrong? - Chris

Hi All, I'm able to get Memory and Disk utilization out of our AS400 on a 270, but cannot get CPU utilization. Also get RX and TX kbps, but not RX and TX % utilization. Has anyone had any success with this? Or does anyone know the applicable OIDs to setup custom monitors? Thanks for your help. -Alex

WMI Problems - Access Denied

Regardless of any steps followed I cannot get any WMI Resource Monitors to work. I still get the "Access Denied" error. Report Possibility Question
My company is currently in the market for a NMS system and OpUtils seems extremely versatile and useful. The one thing we are looking for is to be able to generate a report that would give an uptime percentage for a specific switch/router interface over a given period of time w/ exclusions such as: Router Gi1/1 99.9% uptime over 90 Days, downtime occurred at X:XX am on X/X/X. So far none of the packages we have looked at can come with this data, I cannot find something which makes me think OpUtils

Business View alert
In business view it is showing a site as in the red crictical, but nothing in the view is critical they are all clear, and also nothing in the infastructure view is crictical either. Wondered if there was fix for this or that i was doing something wrong. Any help would be appreciated Tom
Unable to insert primary mail server record....
After restore from backup e-mail server settings are lost. When I'm trying to add em again, I receive the following error: "Unable to insert primary mail server record.... " Tried to remove record from MailServer table, but it didn't help. I'm using MS SQL 2000 as DB Server
System requirements for msp?
I've looked at the system requirements for Opmanager MSP ( here), and installed a demo. However my real world experience with the demo does not at all match the system requirements... I'm testing it out on a network with over 600 nodes. 40 servers, 200 printers, 250 network devices, etc... According to the system requirements, I need (4) 3 Ghz CPU and 4 GB memory for my probe. My current probe is running on a desktop pc with a 3 Ghz CPU and 512 MB memory, utilizing 450 MB memory and about 20% CPU
Email notification and McAfee
What application name is sending the email notifications ? Is it called apache or opmanager. Reason I ask, is our Enterprise Mcafee is blocking the application, until I allow it in the excluded file. I cannot find the name of the file, even when I use tcpview. Thanks
Migrate to SQL breaks All Servers Disk Usage Repo
Hi, I migrated from mysql to sql and ran the All Servers Disk Usage report. Now the devices are not in any order, e.g. server a, then b then a then c....Ethernet cards and wirless adaptors also started showing up in the partitions. Is this a known problem when moving to SQL from MySQL? ta, Lerwick

Hi, When I add a device by device name it gets added to opmanager but the ip address shows up as 0.0.0.0. Not sure why this happens, but I can still ping the device from the actions menu. thanks, Lerwick
error disk utilization
I am having a problem with OpManager: it shows me that one of the monitored servers has 100% disk utilization but that's not true. I tried to restart SNMP service and also restart server... Can anywone help me with a solution? 10x
CiscoSwitchMemoryUtilization for Catalyst 3750 switch
For whatever reason, OpManager is unable to properly identify my cat3750 switches. When I add the device, the app adds the device with type=unknown. I manually change this, but because the initial discovery was incorrect it doesn't create one graph that I would like associated with this device: CiscoSwitchMemoryUtilization. Changing Switch interface display name OID association
I found another post on this subject, but it's old and obviously not being monitored. Figured I'd submit one of my own. The interface display name for my catalyst switches is associated with ifDescription which yields results like this: Index Description Speed (Mbps) Status Display Name 10101 GigabitEthernet1/0/1 1000 GigabitEtherne... 10102 GigabitEthernet1/0/2 1000 GigabitEtherne... In my switches, I've taken the time to add an interface description that identifies the device attached to the interface.
Customer login views and access

I understand the following two points have been resolved in the upcoming release, but can someone confirm this for me please? 1: When customers log in to the central server as the customer name, they should see only their servers, views and probes. CNMP CPU Utilization Bug in OpManager
I read in your forums that the CPU Utilization, when reported via SNMP and HOSTRESOURCE-MIB, is supposed to be the average utilization of all CPUs/cores in the system. I'm running OpManager v 6013 on a Windows Server 2003 SP1 x86 host. When monitoring CPU Utilization on a remote Windows Server 2003 SP1 x86 host with two (2) Intel quad-core processors I can confirm that what is being reported via OpManager is NOT the average. MSP, mibs and other things
Why are mibs that are in for example the wifimanager (ap 1100) not availeble in the MSP edtion? Please add more mibs for diferent products. Why is at some points the functionalitie of opmanager better then the MSP. Is is possible to add a mibb database to your site? When will there be more option in MSP, intergration of wifimanager, active desktop etc. That would make it even more better.

This is just information for other users who have OpManager MSP edition. Don't know if anyone had already realized it was as simple as this, but just thought I'd share with others what I'd found incase it helps anyone. Unfortunately you still can't push out resource monitors to multiple servers from the central server like you can from the probe, but you can change settings globally. At present you need to log into the customers probe to set default settings for resource monitors and thresholds etc.

Wrong interface name`s cisco cat4500
