OpManager MSP 6003 Bugs and Future Enhancements ideas
Before getting into the bugs, I want to say, the enhancements to the "Custom Reports" found on the "Reports" tab (i.e. ability to report on custom monitors) are greatly appreciated and will be very useful for our organization. The ability to save/recall/schedule these report definitions would be cool too That said, I have found the following bugs in MSP 6003... 1) On the Alarms tab, I cannot get to the second page of a customer alarms. Problem with OPManager-MSP on VMWare Server
Hi, We are evaluating the OPManager-MSP platform and installed it on a w2k3 as a quest on VMware Server. The OPManager-MPS collects data from remote probes via https. During our evaluation we do not get a stable connection between the probes and the central OPManager MSP server. The OPM-MSP server sends a regular stream of email messages that probes are up and down. UP / Down messages from both probes have the same timestamp. So we assume that it has something to do with the server. We are testing
disk monitoring
Helo, I am trying to monitor SAN disk drives attached to my 2003 server. The only drives I can see to monitor is C or A drives. How can I monitor this drives using opmanager? I tried different things but I just can't see this drive letters to monitor the disk usage. I need your help. mdereje
Devices Behind a Firewall
Hello, I have just downloaded and installed OpManager and started adding devices to be monitored by it. I however have run into a problem, I can not seam to add individual devices behind a firewall/router. When I add the device it sees it just fine, but instead of making a separate device for it, it just adds the interfaces to the router. I am access the devices through port forwarding since the only piece of equipment on the network that has a public IP is the router/firewall. Is there a way around

Can't monitor URL
http://<;ip address>/callcenter/start.swe?SWECmd=Start This is an internal email that is used for one application we have. However, when i tried testing the url in OPMANAGER it says host unavailable. Is there a way to support this? and what may be the possible reason it can't support the URL? Thanks
Newbie question - Problem loading traps from MIB
I try to load traps from several MIBS who refer to another MIB (NCR-CORESST-MIB) I get this error message: IMPORTS failed: Could not open file C:/Program Files/AdventNet/ME/OpManager/./mibs/NCR-CORESST-MIB When I tried to browse MIBS earlier, I got a similar message when loading the MIBS, but after I loaded the file referred to, I could browse the MIBS, but it does not seem to apply for loading traps. Anyone who has any ideas on how I can solve this problem?
i detect the device but i dont see values
hi, i have installed Opmaneger on my computer and i connected the computer to a SNMP capable device. on the browser, i can see that that 2 devices are actived but i dont see any values (Menory utilisation, Disk space .............) nothing. i use the free version of the software and i dont have a license. please help me i don�t know what to do
Itegno 3000 and SMS
Just a quick one - I'm looking at the list of GSM supported modems - specifically the Itegno 3000. According to Itegno's web-page this modem connects via USB.... however Opmanager insists that GSM modems be connected up via serial port. I would actually like to hook up a GSM modem via USB so can the Itegno 3000 be used via USB or not? Anyone with any experience of this? Cheers JtBS

Hi. First time poster. I just downloaded and installed OP, the freebie 20 version one. I'm at a store that is the size of Home Depot. It has a T1, a Dlink router supplying DHCP, 2 switches, 15 PCs, one IBM POS server, some printers, and me, connected through a Linksys router set to AP and a laptop with the OP software on it. I launched it and ran the Discovery process and selected ALL. But, nothing shows up at all. And, if I go to the Admin section to Add a network, it says I can't do it with the
Clearing Unsolicited Traps
Is there a way to delete old unsolicited traps? like in email that if it is still there for 5 days delete it automatically? Also is it possible to suppress same traps receive? Thanks

Problem integrating Service Desk
Hi ! I have a problem with the service desk integration. Service desk is full licensed, OpManager is the free trail version for testing. I can connect to the service desk (Successfully tested and added the ServiceDesk Plus server details) but the details from Service Desk where not importet or can not be accessed. SNMP Problems with Windows 200/2003 Servers
Hi all, I got a problem with snmp on some of our servers. The problem is that ressource monitors doesn�t monitor e.g. CPU Utilization, Disk and Memmory Utilization etc. SNMP is enabled and configured on that servers and the destination host is always the same (server where opmanager is running) and the community name is also equal. Hi, My company is using OpManager for a few moths, and we are loving it! Process for purchasing professional edition has begun. :P We are having a problem with dependencys, imagine this scenario: - 3 devices : device A, device B and device C - device C depends of B and B depends of A If device B fails we receive the notification of device B fail and no notification for device C - this is correct! SQL Database Support for OPManager MSP Version

(Typically this appends because some "very faraway" devices have some time out's) But some times (happily rare cases) i receive the clear first and then the critical and other times i receive the critical notification and the clear never appears! IIS Reset on target machine.
I am trying to perform an IISreset when a URL monitor goes down on one of our intranet sites. I have tried every method possible and cannot get this to work. It seems that if I create a batch file to do something locally (such as IISreset) it works just fine, but if I create one with IISreset [computername] nothing seems to happen. When I manually run the batch file it reset IIS on the target machine. Why does this not work as a notification profile? Am I using the wrong profile type or syntax? Thanks
OpManager tftp server???
Is there a tftp server built into Opmanager? I attempted to install and run a tftp server app on the server that is running OpManager and the tftp app threw an error that there was already a tftp server running on port 69. Long story made much shorter: when I shut the OpManager server down, the tftp server app fires right up and works flawlessly. Start the OpManager server back up, tftp takes a dump. I really don't want to have to shut OpManager down just to back up my Pix devices, so how would I

Hello, I'm trying to determine if I am doing something wrong with OPManager. I've tried OM several times over the years. The UI, reports, posibilities and cost keep bringing me back, but every time I do come back I get frustrated. Frustrated because I have trouble getting it to work. For example a simple test I perform is the 3 basic Resource Monitors CPU, Disk and Memory using WMI. I am using the product to check domain servers using the domain credentials. One serverA I will get results for CPU
How to temporarily disable a Notification Profile
Is there a way to temporarily disable a Notification Profile? In other products we've used, you could go into the notification profile and enable or disable it. If a person goes on vacation we'd like to be able to disable their pages without having to remove the profile from all the devices they manage, and then have to reconfigure them all again when they get back. It does not look like OpMan allows you to disable a Notification Profile, or create a Downtime Schedule for a Notification Profile.

Removing the notification profiles in OpManager MSP Edition
Most often, any workstation issues during the day could be allowed to crop up from the respective user call or complaint, while if it were off, it would just mean that the user has just left for the day. In these cases, you might wish to remove a notification profile. New installation of Opmanager with (external) MS-SQL databas
After my new installation of Opmanager with a (external) MS-SQL database i have the following error in my webinterface. Oops looks like a few tables got corrupted. Don't worry.. Run RepairDB.bat from bin directory and restart the server. Couple of Questions
I just recently installed OPManager but I'm having trouble getting it to launch. I'm getting the error "Failed to establish connection with web server. Gracefully shutting down OpManager." I did some digging around on the support site and found an article saying to chmod the httpd file and modify the httpd.conf file, but after doing that I'm still coming up empty. I'm running Fedora Core 5. I already have an apache & mysql server running on that box, could this be the problem? If so how would I go
Problems Accessing after 24 hours
This is a strange issue... after about 24 hours (sometimes more or less) we can't access the web interface. On the local machine (RHEL4) I can telnet to the local interface and reach port 80 no problem.... and this is by connecting remotely across the same ethernet port via SSH.... I'm trying to find out if this is a server issue or if there are logs in OpManager that I can check to see if it's possibly software related? Also, I know how to start OpManager but what's the command line to shut it down?

Cannot view 'Objects' all of a sudden
Hi all, We've been trialing OpManager for about a month now and are looking forward to purchasing it, however we've just rang into a problem and I'm not sure how to clear it; From the Home page all looks normal, however when you go into Infrastructure View and then click on a item such as a Server, Router, etc - a error appears stating "Unable to find the object: server1.domain" (obviously changed the server name). This is now happening for all items. Any ideas or suggestions?

Can someone explain please what do the following monitored services require as far as permission needed for WMI? Exchange 2003? Active Directory Just typical WMI items such as CPU speed/Memory/Disk Space? thanks in advance.
Integrated Security for SQL Server backend
Is Integrated Security possible for SQL Server back ends? If not, I would like to request support for it in a future release. We find it to be much easier to administer. The JDBC driver from Microsoft supports it, but I'm not sure if we leave the user and password fields blank in the database configuration if it will still work. Thanks, Colin
XHTML compliant interface
As a web development shop we have several tools on our browser at all times to instrument it to detect XHTML non-complaint pages. It appears OpManager and the web site is throwing a lot of alarms off. A quick scan through to make it more compliant in the next release would be appreciated! Cheers, Colin
