Cannot modify Remote Office
I am trying to modify my Remote Offices in version 70117. When I change the IP address in Desktop Central Server Details, then click the Modify button, it says Successfully Modified Branch Office. However, when I then open the edit window again for the Branch Office, it has reverted back to the original IP. Please help.
Remote Office problem
I have created a Remote Office and downloaded the agent installer for that specific Remote Office in version 70117. When I manually install the agent on a computer it checks in with the server, but it gets added to the Local Office rather than the correct Remote Office. I made sure that I have downloaded the installer for the Remote Office and not for the Local Office, and I have tested several times with the same result. Please help.
Problems opening pdf files after uploading them as invoice files or license files.
When I use software licenses and upload pdf file, when I try to open it, it opens not the original file, but file with the name report.pdf and I get an error - something about the file being corrupt or invalid format. I tested it in 2 different installation of latest Desktop Central, using different pdf readers (adobe, PDFXechange, Sumatra), different browsers (Firefox, IE). I also tried to download file first, but it downloads as Report.pdf (not the name I gave it originally) and it fails to open
Add Workgroup VPN Client
Hi I am using Desktop central-7 in our Domain Environment .I need to add our VPN client to the Desktop Central. My VPN client is in Workgroup. I am trying to add the VPN client Using the Remote office option.I am able to take the assert Details. Clarification about Deploying MSIs
OK. One thing I'm not clear on is the switches for deploying a MSI package. If i want to use switches like /qn does it need to be a msiexec type of package? I've been looking at the help document and it seems for an MSI you can do arguments but not switches. If it needs to be a msiexec/exe type of deployment how do i reference msiexec.exe ? I just want to pass the arguments /qn and /norestart to an msi that I'm trying to deploy. If I try to put that in as an argument for an msi it fails. Is that
Desktop Central Command line options?
Hi Is there a way to trigger an install from the commandline from the client? What I want to achieve is when I deploy an OS with OS deployer, I have the option to run a command/action as final phase. This could be a script that triggers a deployement to the new client. Is this possible or is there another (better) way to do this? Thanks Jan

Workstataion Scanning over VPN
Hello All, We have come across an issue while desktop central scan's a worstation which is connected to corporate network over VPN. Issue what we are facing is, while scanning, instead of the getting the VPN range IP address as the workstation IP, desktop central takes the physical nic ip address (which is in most of the case a public ip or a wireless modem IP). Due to this; the remote connection functionality doesnt work while a user is on VPN. Do we have fix for this? Or i am i missing something

First Sun in Month Auto Patch Deploy Patches installs on random day of week?
Hi I was wondering why when I choose to Auto deploy my patches on 'The First Sun' in the month on all months does the schedule say it will next run on a Thursday? For example, I have a schedule to deploy patches to PCs and laptops on the 'First Sun' at 04:00 on every month of the year. When i take a look at the 'Next Run Time' of schedule it says 30th July 2010 which is a Fri? Has anyone seen this before and how do I get around this because I really would like to only install patches on a Sun
Patch is Already Installed Errors...
This was my first weekend attempting to deploy patches with desktop central, and while previous one machine patch deployments have gone well this has not. We have a total of about 58 machines, and here's the process I went through (manual deployment). 1. Run patch scan 2. Go to "Missing Patches" 3. Select All Patches 4. Click the "Install Patches" button. 5. Leave configuration defaults and click deploy. To speed up the deployment after the configuration shows ready I use system tools to reboot

View User Log-on History day to day
Is it possible to view a users logon/logoff history on a day-to-day basis? In other words, I'd liked to generate a report that shows when each users logs on and logs off every day during the week. We want to track time. Saving the data as a CSV so it can be analyzed in Excel would be a good thing, too.
Problem deploying msi or exe
I keep getting the same error: Could not copy the installables to the client computers : The system cannot find the path specified. I'm not sure what this means which path can't be found ? The share which has the msi or the destination? I added a package and the msi is on a file share. I can install patches just fine but software deployment fails with this error every time.
Level of Admin Rights
Hello Support Team, I would like to user Desktop Central to know who the currently logged on user is for a machine on the domain. The Active Directory Team is hesitant in providing me Domain Admin Rights. Is there any lower level of administrative access using which I can check currently logged on user through Desktop Central. You need to download and decompress 'bootwiz.sys, kernel.dat and ramdisk.dat' files from the following archives (ZIP files) to update OSD Bootable media and PXE Server. Desktop Central manage software licenses
Hi, a customer recently bought the Desktop Central software. He needs to manage software licenses but he has two problems: 1- the Microsoft office licenses are 1 for each PC and this is easy. The problem arise with Citrix users. Each user should have is own license. How they can count them? 2- they have several licenses for Lotus Clients no matter the version, unfortunately the DC counts each client version as a separate software. How they count the whole Lotus Clients installed instead? Thanks.
OU Based installation
Hi I'm not sure if this is a feature request or a bug report. I deploy clients based on Organisational Units in Active directory. Depending on the OU, a different set of Software is installed on the client. This currently works fine, if a client already existed in this OU (e.g. if the client is reinstalled). But if i put a new client into the OU, it won't be added to the configuration group and no software is deployed until I edit the configuration and hit the deploy button. But this causes, that
DesktopCentral patch management question
We are trying to use DC to roll out SPs/patches in our domain(s). However, every time we create a new config to roll out to a specific pod/floor it RE downloads SP3 for XP. We have a good WSUS installation, can we point our DC installation to that server for updates so they don't have to be downloaded over and over again from the internet?
List of printers per workstation
Is there a way to get a list of each printer installed per workstation? It would be nice to see which printers are installed on each workstation/per workstation. Hi, Is there a way to reinstall wan agents from the server? When i go to remote site i find there are some agents uninstalled i proceed to select the pcs and reinstall the agent, but it then move the pc from the remote location to the local Office. Please advise. Thanks,

Patch management for an air-gapped network
Hey all, A friend recommended Desktop Central to me for managing OS patches in a lab I work at. We have about 5 workstations all with XP 64-bit that are on a network air-gapped from the outside world (can't hook them up to an Internet connection). However I have one administrative machine in the lab that is connected to an Internet connection. Now I can move that machine between the two networks (have to make a NIC change and cable swap), so what I wanted to do is set up DC to download the patches
Custom Groups
What is the main purpose of Custom Groups ? I have made Custom Groups from our domain, using Users Group Type and I can see the list contain of our user domain. When I want to use Filter by in Asset Scan, pick Custom Group only Inactive_Users_domainname appear and the Custom Groups I've made are not appear. Is it like that or is there any way to make the Custom Group I've made to be appear ? Is there any way to make Custom Reports and generate using Custom Groups ?

Deploying MS Office to Windows 7
I'm tring to deploy MS office 2007 and 2010 Beta to Windows 7 but unfortunatly I'm not able to finish the process. I tried the same package to deploy it to Windows XP and it was installed successfully. Can someone Advice what is the problem. Regards.
DesktopCentralAgent installation in silent mode
hello, sorry for my bad English, I want to install the agent in silent mode: with the command "...\directsetup\DesktopCentralAgent.msi /qn" it works for the first part but then I have the window "connection setting for server communication" with DCServername, DCServerport and DCServerip and after the window: "Proxy setting". Desktop Central Server Space
What can I delete out of the Desktop Central Server directory that will allow for me to install the latest patch. I only have 3GB of space left on the drive and the newest patch says it requires like 5GB of space. My patch folder has doubled since we are now able to keep other applications up to date. Moving from one server to another
I have had DC installed on a server for quite some time. I now need to move it to a new physical server. I was planning to backup the database, then restore it to the new server. However, when I tried to restore it, I got an error that says "This backup file {100521-1027.zip] and the current version of the product are not compatible. Distribution Server
I have 3 Distribution Servers and they are all working properly. However, when I view my SoM > Remote Offices it says: The Distribution Server is not installed in the following remote office(s) for all 3 DS servers. I installed them by following the instructions. How do I correct this? Thank you!
Static and Dynamic IP and monitoring system
Hi, We are currently developing a Photo Kiosk system which means we have these kiosks where people can print directly their photo's by uploading via Bluetooth, USB, SD etc. There will be around 750 kiosks around with their own wireless internet modem. The server has a static IP but all 750 kiosks will have dynamic IP's. Can we still use Desktop Central for this? Is it possible to monitor and build in alerts whenever a kiosk is not working properly anymore into the server? Which means malfunction
