OpManager crashes when viewing unsolicited traps
Hi, Our OpManager instance crashes when viewing the unsolicitied traps from the Alarms - Active Alarms - Unsolicted traps. When attempting to view this page it hangs for a while then reports Error!. This takes down the entire OpManager application and requires a restart to get it working again. I have performed a DBRepair and a server restart but this issue continues. Can you please assist. MS SQL, No Databases Listed?
At the weekend we detached and re-attached a couple of databases on one database server. We also installed microsoft critical updates. After this I noticed one or two databases mounted on that server where not monitored in op-manager so I clicked "Select Databases to Monitor" and nothing was listed. I also checked a second database server and this is also now showing no databases in the "Select Databases to Monitor" list. Those that where previously added are still there but all database counters
Interface grouping
I imagine grouping of interfaces per the service they support is a very cool idea to be available in the system. Scenario 1. A network with multivendor WAN links would benefit from the monitoring and reporting of the interface availability (to mean the WAN link availability) This will help in the mangement of business SLA. Scenario 2. a LAN Switch can have specific ports configured for specific VLANs to mean a department, business function etc. it would be therefore usefult to manage and report

Trying OpManager WMI
I am experimenting with the OpManager Free Edition Build 8721. I was trying to add a WMI-based custom monitor as per User Guide pg. 64 and I am getting the error: Failed to get performance counters from the selected WMI class. for every machine and every WMI class I tried. I've checked and re-checked the credentials. I can access WMI on those machines with a third-party WMI browser, with the same credentials. Is this a limitation of the free edition? TIA Alex
SQL monitors attached to the wrong instance.
When I attach SQL monitors to one instance of SQL server, they also attach themselves to the default instance of SQL as well, even if the default instance is not shown when adding the monitors. It's making it very difficult to monitor the server, as the problems show up on both instances, even though they're only on one of them, and the thresholds can't be changed, as the other instance's monitor seems to overwrite the new threshold settings. SNMP Traps type CLEAR are not reaching OpManager
Hi, I am utilizing a propriety MIB. SNMP Traps are reaching the server properly based on WireShark, but OpManager displays only the TRIGGER traps. When CLEAR traps are being sent they are not being displayed anywhere. The CLEAR traps are not even added to the alert_audit log. Both traps were configured at the trap.parsers conf file. Any ideas? More Flexible Time Windows for Reports
We need to generate reports (for SLA purposes) for this kind of time windows: Monday to Friday and from 08:00 to 17:00 and also exclude holidays. File Monitor issue
Hi, I have found that the file monitor functionality is not working as expected. I have created a file monitor to check File Existence on a server. Due to the length of time it takes to copy the file to the server (it is a large file), I have set the Consecutive Times value to 2. This seems to be ignored however, and the alarm is raised immediately after the 1st polling period determines the file is missing. Additionally, tests show that this problem also affects the File Age check. Can you
opmanager doing snmp-get towards ip not managed by opmanager
well, they belonged to switches a long time ago before the ip's changed, but now these ip's are used by other servers, and they are complaining that they still get snmp-get from the opmanager. I do a search of these ip's in opmanager and they don't show up. Any ideas where I can stop opmanager from contacting these servers? Best Regards, Oscar

Calculating a percentage from two OIDS

import a list of devices
Hi i was looking for a way to discover a list of specific IPs ( from various subnets, from a CSV, Tab etc file) I have a few lists comprised of roughly 80 IPs each, and I want to add just them rather than adding all the subnets and then remove what i don't want - desktops and such - is there a way to do this? Checking if a file share \\server\share$ is available
On our file servers we are defining a lot of different shares. Sometimes some shares become inaccessible for various reasons. I need to periodically check their availability. The predefined OpManager monitors allow me to check files and folders, but only through mapped drives. I cannot map a drive to every share, so this is not a solution. What other solution would you recommend? TIA Alex
Business View Ideas
Please allow an option to hide the labels for devices added to business view or at the least change the orientation so instead of it being on the bottom it can be out to the right. this is an issues when i put the devices on a rack diagram as the names are unreadable and the diagram is already labeled. as you can see the racks are already labeled so having the labels on the devices is useless.
Problems with adding new servers.
Hello, I have added a new serve wiht the IP addresses. Added well. When I am searching on the IP address the system told me that the server with that specific IP address isn't added. Can you help me with the problem. Thanks.
OpManager Reports
I am wondering if there is a way to add a Reason colum to the Server Availibilty Report? When a server goes down an alert is sent, I then go into that alert and add a note with the reason for why it went down e.g. Power Failure. So what I'm wondering is, is there a way to get that note I added for why the server went down added to the Server Availibilty Report? Cheers,

Device already present in the System

JavaService.exe Showing High CPU and Memory
I was running OpManager on a Dell server with quad Xeon 700Mhz with 2 GB of memory. When running on this server, the JavaService.exe always showed up in task manager as using an average of 50% to 80% CPU and the memory constantlly climbed. There were other applications running on this server, but not using hardly any CPU or memory. So, today I installed a freshly downloaded copy of OpManager 5.5 with the latest memory leak hotfix. I copied the OpManagerDB and conf directories from the old server
Notification Profile
Hello, I've made a custom event that i want to monitor Then I enabled it on the server I've created a notification profile and want to add the custom event. I check the box in front of the Custom event and save the profile. When I reopen the box in front of the Custom event is unchecked. For normal events it keeps checked exept for Custom events it is not remembered. can anyone help please?
Downtime Schedules - Last Day issue
Hi, Today I am adjusting my Downtime Schedules and have noticed an error when specifying LAST DAY within the Day Wise section of the schedules. Note: I tested this on 19/10/2010. When specifying LAST MON within the schedule and saving, the Next Scheduled date reports as 29/11/2010 rather than 25/10/2010. When specifying LAST SAT within the schedule and saving, the Next Scheduled date reports 23/10/2010 rather then 30/10/2010. Is there a fix for this issue? Thank you
Changing the Host Resource XML file
Hi Team I am working on a few solaris systems and in the HOST Resource file, we saw the command we use for disk usage is /usr/bin/df -F ufs -k | awk '{x+=$2}{y+=$3}{z+=$4}END{print x,y,z}' curValue - line 2 & Token 1 used - line 2 & Token 2 But from the screenshot below, the output comes in like this So it comes in Line 1 - Token 1 and 2. Do we change the line to 1 and will it work ? Because, currently we are getting 0% as disk usage. Kindly advise. Thanks Isaac ME Tech
Notifications not working
Hello, I have setup a some notification profiles; the first one is just normal email notification and is all the time for everything to my own mail box. The second one is from 1600 -> 0900 every day for everything; this one is an email based sms notification profile. What I am confused by is that the email notification seems to be working well each and every time...whereas the email based sms notification profile seems to pick and choose when it sends the notifications. NetFlow Plug-in 8500 Issue
I have installed a demo of the NetFlow plugin for Opmanager. I recieved the following error after starting the OpManager service after install. NetFlow Plug-In has not started because NetFlow Plug-In is not changed to secure mode. The Opmanager server is configured for SSL. Does anyone know how to fix this error? Thanks, Joe
Duplicate information in email
If I edit an Email Profile and add a $ variable to the message, the variable also shows up in the Alarm Details of the email. When I remove the variable, it is automatically removed from the Alarm Details. The result is that every email has a Message and Alarm Details section both of which contain the exact same data. Is there a way to prevent this behavior?
Can't individually identify physical/logical disks inside VMs
Hello, I am running a bunch of Windows Server 2003 machines as virtuals in a VMWare ESX environment.... C, D, E drives etc are mounted using a fibre array within which there are predefined datastores....I'm able to see the % utilization based on the cumulative total of all hard disks on each server. This however doesn’t help me identify individual drives which may be close to full. I’m running the Premium version of OpManager Build 8721. Any help would be greatly appreciated…. Thank you!

I'm a little disappointed in not only this version of OpManager, but what appears to be the lack of support from your staff in getting all my issues addressed. AIX CLI partition monitoring
I discovered that the AIX CLI partitioning monitoring is reading the wrong field; it's looking at the %Iused field rather than the %Used field, see below. OpManager Disk Utilization Bug - No graph shown
This bug may be specific to CentOS/RHEL but never the less, there is no documentation I have found about it. Issue OpManager (8721 - or less) does not display the disk utilisation for CentOS/RHEL servers. CentOS/RHEL responds correctly as advised in http://support.opmanager.com/sd/AddSolution.sd?solID=35701 OpManager appears to make queries (in addition to the KB article) to the OID: .1.3.6.1.2.1.25.3.6.1.4 and attempt to obtain the disk capacity. This OID does not appear to be implemented in RHEL/CentOS
Provide functionality for dynamic device collections
Hi all, I have idea that I am sure many would find useful. How about providing the ability to create dynamic collections of devices based on some simple rules using boolean logic. E.g. I would find it useful to create a collection of devices that is of type Windows 2003 AND has "PRD" in its name AND is in the IP range 10.10.10.1 - 10.10.10.100 OR 10.10.11.1 - 10.10.11.100. The membership of this collection would be dynamic and devices would be automatically added and remove as they fell inside
