Delete Admin User - Desktop Central (90022)
Hi Guys, We're trying to delete the Admin account. We've created two addition admin username (firstname.surname) and assigned than administrator rights. We then login as one of these users. When we attempt to delete the Admin user the software confirm it's been deleted (i.e. local\admin deleted message), however the Admin user remains in the list of users. We've tried removing the administrator rights to the admin user and trying to delete again, but this does not help. We have a two user licence
MAC Addresses
I have many computers that have multiple network adapters, which means there are multiple MAC addresses. Desktop Central is picking the wrong MAC address from my clients. Since it's doing this, Wake on LAN doesn't work until I manually enter the correct MAC address. Is there a way to support multiple MAC addresses? If so, can wake on LAN send packets to all MAC addresses to wake the computer up? Thanks TOm
Is Build 90001 the same as Desktop Central 9?
I just upgraded build version 90001. Is that the same thing as Desktop Central 9? The software still says Desktop Central 8. If it is not the same thing, then having a version number 90001 at the same time as version 9 is very confusing. If 90001 is version 9, the graphic in the left hand corner should change to say Desktop Central 9. The login screen says 9. The main question is will Java updates now work?
Verify MSSQL migration
I ran the Desktop Central DB migration to MSSQL and had no errors or problems. My question is, using version 9 of Desktop Central, how can I verify that I am using the MSSQL as the primary and only DB? Thanks
Need VBS script to rename PC via DC
Romanus in 2009, posted a how to on renaming a PC but I do not understand how to implement it. https://blogs.manageengine.com/product-blog/desktopcentral/2009/04/13/rename-remote-computer-using-desktop-central.html I do know how to implement a VBS script that has an argument to change the Workgroup. Romanus provided that to me last year. None of the PCs are AD joined. The PC workgroup name varies between PCs. Is it possible to get a VBS script that I can use to change the Computer name. Below
After upgrade to 9, No info is showed in Inventory / Computers
helo, After updating the desktop Central 8 too built No 90001. We don't get information showed in the TAB Inventory / Computers? The listing of computers managed is blank. How can we fix this problem? Regards, Eric.

Yesterday , I installed via the service pack install to 90001 version .....Big Mistake I created a back up of the server, ran the update. It apparently updated all the DC Clients overnight but I cannot gain access to it via http://<servername>:8020/configurations.do it will not allow me to login, admin/admin are the default login but the web browser blinks, and briefly reloads, then no response. it will not go past the login screen. Lenovo seem to have implemented CAPTCHA and have broken the warranty lookup
I started to get warranty lookup errors on Lenovo PC's. I went the manual warranty check site (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-service/warranty-status/default.page) and they have added a CAPTCHA at the bottom. I'm guessing this is what is hosing the Desktop Central lookup?
Where is the Version 8 to 9 upgrade?
I am just wondering if I am missing something. I see version 9 on the site, and see people mention it here, but don't see any download to update from version 8. Just the full install.

Custom Groups - Dynamic Groups
Hello, I would like to setup a dynamic group in Desktop Central that automatically adds computers to the group based on the first 2 characters of the computer name. We have various departments and name the computers as such, for example: IT dept - IT04xxxx Hospital Services - HS06xxxx Client Services - CS06xxxx Can I make a dynamic group that will automatically add any computer name starting with "HS"? Is this possible?
Possibility to set global date/time format used everywhere in Desktop Central
In "ServiceDesk" you can choose your own date format (out of 5 options) and time format (out of 13 options) Why is this not possible in Desktop Central, too? I hope this is planned for future versions... Best regards, peter

Hi Team, not sure if this the right sub forum but i´m brave and just write it down. If i install the Desktop Central Agent on workstations with german operating system, the umlauts are not displaying correctly. In this example (attechment "zoho") "unzul'\u00e4'ssige" instead of "unzulässige". The other thing, we do not have configure prohibited software, but the Agent at the workstation shows this picture (attechment "zoho1"). Hi @ll, I just finished the testing time and decide for the free version. Now I just have only my AD-useraccount left in the user-administration. I want to add the domain administrator also as admin for desktopcentral. That's impossible, because after clicking "add user" an error appear: "Licensed user limit reached. Renaming local admin account?
Hello, I have an interesting issue. I have installed DesktopCentral 8 using the free license of 25 computers. However, I didn't realize there was a one admin limit. The interesting part is that the built in admin account stayed put when I added my own account via the AD integration. I deleted the built in admin account and now, cannot add another account besides the AD admin account. What I would like to do is, remove the AD account and revert back to the built in admin account if possible. Any

Should be simple...how to I push a file to the desktop for a group of users?
I have a shortcut I want to deploy to a group of people who all use the same software. I would like to place the file right on their desktop. That's all that has to happen. The program doesn't change at all, it's just the shortcut that needs to be deployed. I tried "shortcut" under configurations, but that wants me to select a program for it to create a shortcut for. Creating custom groups from inventory reports
Hi I would like to request a more advanced Custom Group feature, it would be nice if I could generate a report, for example a software report for all computers that have a Adobe Reader 9 installed, And then just mark all computers and create a group. Atm I have to export all computers to a csv file, then import in excel, then edit the document so it only contains computernames, add a coma to each and then copy it back into DC to make the group. Steps to Migrate anyway from SMS & WSUS to Desktop Central 8
I need to know all the different steps I need to take to migrate away from using SMS & WSUS and start using just Desktop Central. We have both XP & Windows 7 in our environment. Logs folder on Agent
More of a general question. On the agent installed on workstations, how often is the logs folder cleared out? Looking at the one on my system and it contains over 331MB worth of log files.. Is there a routine or a configuration to run to clear this folder or does the server take care of this when it wants to :) Gil

Clients with multiple IP's
Hi, I am having an issue with certain client machines that may have Multiple IP addresses it appears that clients that have multiple IP 's will not be managed by Desktop central server correctly scans fail, configurations do not apply disabling these additional NIC's with different subnetted IP's is not an acceptable solution as they are required for example for cluster services can you advise how i set one fo these IP addresses for the client as the primary means of comms to the server Thanks

I have DC8 set up to mail about hardware changes made to machines, A very useful feature. DC8 Builds 80340 & 80339 send many mails about new monitors. Most of these machines are virtual but with some laptops and a desktop too. I've had 8 reports about new monitors just for my main laptop which hasn't got any external monitors attached.
