Dear All, I have running Exchange 2007 as my mail server, I need to know if ServiceDesk provides support for POP3 with Secure Password Authentication (SPA), so the authentication credentials are not passed in clear text. Thank you
Mail Server Setting
Hi there; From my system I can telnet to owa1.lasalle.edu.sg at port 25 and I even provided the authentication credentials as shown in the err1.jpg file. I am wondering why the error msg appears? I have tested it several times but to no avail. Any advice is appreciated. BTW I am on build 4030 recently installed for evaluation purpose in my work place. Thanks, YeeJH
Emails for Duplicated Requests
Allow system to send New Request emails when the "Duplicate" function is used. At present only the initial request is emailed.
possible false Error rate alarms on iterfaces
Hi, I'm getting some strange behaviour with error rate alarms. OpManager keeps reporting that some of our routers have an error rate of 100%, yet when I look into the stats of the interface, there is no errors of this magnitude. Any idea why it is reporting these, when it desn't seem to record anything matching in the DB? I have highlighted the Max error rate recorded of 0.14. See attached screen shots. Thanks, Tom

Hi, I'm testing the 6.0 version of NFA for windows.The problem is that NFA shows the name of the primary tunnels (Tunnel100034 lets say) and for the backup tunnel interfaces it shows only IfIndex122 and so on.I don't think it's a SNMP prob because the primary tunnels work - the problem is with the secondary( backup) interfaces? Creating a new device template with a new vendor
I've just created a new device template for an Ironport C100 appliance. All went well until after I submitted. I then realised that it did not save the new vendor I created (I did hit save after entering the vendor name) - it defaulted back to 3Com. I now can't delete the device template, nor can I edit the vendor. Help!

Earlier on today, I upgraded from Build No. 6003 to 7023 and in the 'About' screen it says that we have access to the MSSQL Monitoring till Wednesday 19th December 2007. We are interested in look at this but unable to find out how to get this feature within the new OpManager 7023 release. The Admin page doesn't indicate
OpManager - graphs
Where can I find documenation on how to customize the graphs showing on the snapshot page? I want to change the Disk Utilization to have a separate graph for each partition. Different servers will have different partitions.

General request ownership advice.

Are there any plans for opmanager to integrate with third-party PSA tools such as Connectwise or Autotask? Many other MSP platforms already integrate, and this would add the ability for MSPs to better manage their customers.

starting client
I have installed opManager on two machines. One is a xp x64 which there were absolutlely no problems. It load up and works perfect. The problem is that the xp pro i loaded it on has some real issues. First off the server shows started in the service panel, but the client won't start. Either it shows the page is unavailable (error 404) or it shows a certificate error then the 404 error. I can work around all this by physically going to the \bin file starting the server which shows up in the command
Cannot start OpManger on Sbs 2003
I've installed OpManager trial version on Windows Small Business Server 2003, using MySQL and running OpManager as a service but when I try to open the shortcut that is created on the desktop I get the following error: WebServer port xxx is occupied. Change the port by executing bin/ChangeWebServer script. I tried changing the port but I still get the same error. When I try to access OpManager with IE I get an Internal Server error 500. Any ideas on what I could of missed or need to do next? Thanks
Inventory records and Requestors
We need a feature included in SD Plus. When deleting a REQUESTOR, ServiceDesk does not first check to see if any WORKSTAIONS or ASSETS are associated with that REQUESTOR. This is causing problems with our Inventory system (as you can imagine) since a REQUESTOR is easilly deleted and any ASSETS or WORKSTATIONS assigned to that person are changed in the Inventory system as UNASSIGNED. We have written procedures in place to account for this, but we would like the software to support this "common sence"
Uprade from 6 to 7?
Hi i know this has been asked tons of times but when the heck will the upgrade package be available to go from 6 to 7 of servicedesk? Is there some sort of dev blog you have internally that we can read to see the status of the project. I've gotten so many emails from reps saying it should be available in 2 weeks...and that was 2 months ago. is it time to look else where? This is frustrating.

App Manager shuts down when log out of server
I'm using App Manager 8010 with Windows 2k3 sp2. The program stops running when I log out of the server. I noticed that the manage engine service is NOT listed under Services on this server as it is the others. For now I'm keeping a console session logged in, but the other servers don't have this problem. I get various errors as the session closes out including java.exe not responding. The log is too big to run the support information file & when I try to do it via the batch file in bin , it says
Running OpManager on Server with another Tomcat Installation
Hi All, I'm trying to install the 30 day trial version of OpManager on a server which also runs a development version of another application (Blackboard) which utilises its own custom Tomcat install. The problem I get is that only one of the two applications will work at the same time. Read-Only login for customers
Some customers would like to have read only logins for their staff. A read only login could see all requests of the account but not reply and not make new requests (no edit, no delete).
Setup monitoring of Dell PowerEdge disk array
I had to hunt for a while to get this monitor working as I'm a SNMP n00b. I thought I would share it with the rest of the n00bs out there. First thing you have to do is install Dell Server Administrator on the server you want to monitor. There should be a short-cut on the server desktop to install this, but if not you can get if off the resource disks that came with the system or off the Dell web site. Two questions: 1. Is there a way to setup a technician so they can only view requests submitted by a certain department(s)? 2. Is it possible to limit the viewable solutions to the ones in the self-service portal?

WebSphere Attribute Question
Hello, I've been able to successfully setup monitoring of both WAS 5.1.1.15 ND and WAS6 6.1.0.9 ND environments but I have a question concerning a couple of the metrics I've noticed. Specifically, "Committed Transactions", "Transactions Rolled Back" and "Transactions Optimized" are all being measured in ms (milliseconds?), which I don't believe is the correct method of measurement. Those are not measurements of time, they should be the actual transaction counts. What I'd like to do is create a rule
Problem with AD import
We�ve SD plus 7 (Build 7005) and it is integrated with Windows AD. We are also using the option �[ Allow to see all requests for the department ]� for all the requestors which were imported from AD. Now the problem here is, whenever AD import happens the above setting is not visible and we have to manually re-enable this to all the requestors. Since we have scheduled AD import and more than 5000 requestors it is not practical to enable this for each and every user after every AD import. Can you tell
Remove Domain Controller
Hi all, We have Opmanager version 7 without the AD option and Opmanager has created discovered the Domain Controller which is fine, however we have now changed on of our subnets and I'm unable to change the IP or delete the DC because we have not get the AD option installed. Removing Quick Create

MIBS
What MIBS are available for SD+ 7. When I do scans Dell and HP servers I get excellent results back. But when I do scans on Cisco routers and switches, and on Printers (Lanier and HP) the results are next to useless, in that all I seem to get back is IP address, and most cases, the result cannot determine the type of devices. I am using SMNP. Any help would be much appreciated.

Today, ee cannot see a ID column in list of tasks in a request as it is possible in a list of requests. It is very important to technician identify the requests and tasks that they are working.

Change Management
Would it be possible to add the Change Management module from your ServiceDesk Plus system to the SupportCentre Plus system? I say this becuase a customer may call through and need assistance with a problem that was being caused by a software bug or design flaw. The next logical step would be to request a Change to the system. When thinking about this, you should have the option of creating a change record based on the request you are logging, or totally independant. Thoughs? Daniel

unlike simple hostname fully qualified url invokes AD auth.
When I provide the host name as the URL to my ServiceDesk Plus, I am already authenticated to the server in our office net here as I am logged into our Act Dir, therefore I do not get an Act Dir authentication prompt. When I instead specify a fully qualified domain URL, I get an Act Dir auth prompt. Can you point me in a right direction to assure my users do NOT get an Act Dir auth prompt for fully qualified domain URLs?
SMS alerting
Is there a way to test SMS alerting from OpManager command line? We are using OpManager 7 build 7023. The installation is on a Linux server. I have created an SMS alert but want to be able to send a test alert. Thanks in advance.
