OpManager vs AppManager
What's the differences beetwen those 2 products. My feelings are that AppManager is the subset of OpManager, am I right?
Memory Utilization showing 100% on W2K
On certain W2K servers, I'm gettting a memory utilization of 100%. The sum of all the hrSWRunPerfMem entries is 1905148 KBytes and the hrMemorySize is 3898896 KBytes which should give a memory utilization of ~49%, not 100%. Other W2K servers are calculating correctly. All are the same build level (2195).
X-Window DISPLAY variable
FYI, if you have the X-window DISPLAY variable set to a remote machine when you start OpManager, and that remote machine is/becomes unavailable, it throws an error in OpManager when attempting to login. The StartOpManagerServer.sh script only checks that the DISPLAY variable is set, not whether it's set to the local machine where OpManager is running. The default behavior should be to run headless if either the DISPLAY variable is not set, or is set to something other than the local machine.

One of the suggestions which came from them, was fields of information which they currently are used to seeing, with another management software. Related to outtage notifications which they are used to getting from the other software, they see: -Facility Name (location of device) -Street Address -Contact information (the user they can call to confirm status, contact address, contact phone number) - Other fields

I just built a second Opmanager system fresh 5510 version to double check as my initial install was linked to a remote Mysql server which isnt a default installation configuration to confirm that this hotlink does not function. Basically there is no URI for the hotlink. Can anyone else confirm this same issue? I did add additional mibs to be loaded and additional devices to the device tables but other than that this is a fresh install.

Is there any way to embed an HTTP link in any of the Device Details fields? (such as the Sys Desc. field). We have an external system that contains information on each server such as procedures, asset info, etc. and it would be nice to have a clickable link to that system from within OpManager.
Today's Packet Loss
H all, After upgrading to SP 1, I don't see the "Today's Packet Loss" display on my Opmanager which is running on Linux. Is this due to me running OpManager on Linux or is this because I still have to configure something?
Linux monitoring
Hello I have OPmanager and it is up and running. All seems OK, however I am having problems monitoring our Linux servers. no detection of linksys wap54g wireless
When I use wifimanager I see my cisco-linksys wireless Accespoint. But when I use opmanager It doesn't detect it. I can't even add it ass a device. please help.
Adding a APC UPS
How can i add a APC UPS which is managed from one of our servers? The UPS doenst have an own IP number .... ? I tried adding vendor specific monitor for an APC UPS to the server, but that doesnt work.
Linux installation issues
I am currently running Linux 9.3, Enterprise edition (eval). I have experienced a lot of issues when installing OpManager. Unknown OS
I ran a discovery on my Datacenter subnet and all of my servers (400 windows 2000,2003) came up as unknow OS. We ar e currently only using WMI becuase SNMP was never installed on the servers. Is there a way to change the OS type on all of the servers at on time or do i have to click through 400 servers to change it.

No detection of OS etc
My SNMP to my 2003 servers works great. But it won't detect the OS version and other thing. While WIFImanager detects this out of the box. How can this be?
slow performance of opmanager post sp1 install
Hi I upgrade to sp1 build 5510 yesterday, and the new functionality is appreciated. However I am finding that the web client has slowed down to an absolute crawl when using it compared to build 5504. Previously, navigating screens would take 1-3 seconds each, now it takes > 10 seconds to go into the snapshot for a device. Opmanager is running on windows 2000 server on a p4-2ghz with 512mb ram. OptUtil Cisco CLI change

How can I monitor the status of certain active processes? Looks like you can since there is a summary list of active processes shown in the device info list. I want to build alarms based on certain essential services going down. ie. Problems with OpManager 5.5 SP1
Hi there, Since upgrading to SP1 I seem to be getting authentication failures on all my devices? Also if I update a device name e.g a switch it doesn't seem to retain the name, it reverts back to IP address again. :(
Time out of Op Manager GUI
Hi, After the upgrade of Op Manager to SP 1 (5510), I found that even after I selected "Automatic Refresh" at 1 minute, I am still timedout after 10 minutes, and I need to re-login again. Any ideas? Paul
MySql Issues

Fortigate 800 MIBs
Hi, I've been having problems with detecting my Fortigate 800s correctly. All interfaces detected are wrong, and I can't get CPU and Memory utilization. Support has replied back this morning that testing was done on their Fortigate 400s, and is working fine on their Fortigate 400s. I believe the 400s and 800s are vastly different, and are probably running on different instruction sets. I have attached the MIBs for the Fortigate 800. Is anyone able to advice on how I can get the MIB compiled and loaded
snmp on different port problems monitoring environmentals
Hi I'm new to Ops Manager. Just set it up, verified net-snmp install on my target device as per the instructions in the user manual. I set the community and port strings accordingly we use a non standard port for snmp (e.g. 6969) however op manager does not appear to be able to communicate. my community string has a period in it. could that also pose a problem? ssh monitoring is ok.

HI, I have been testing OpManager to monitor our fleet of ATM (cash disperser) machines. Having looked at 11 other products, OpManager comes closest to shat I need. ATM's have a number of sub-system components (Card reader, cash dispenser, Receipt Printer) all of which need monitoring. I particularly like the Server view exposed by OpManager where services appear a little indicators on the main server Icon. I have three questions; 1. Can I create a new device category that mimics the Server view?
New device type/category
When adding a new device type, there should be a pulldown with the category of the new device type (router, firewall, etc.) so you don't have to manually edit the opmanager_categoryInfo.xml file to add in the new device type names that get matched on discovery.

I am testing OpManager to monitor our fleet of ATM (cash dispenser) machines and OpManager is the closest fit I have seen for our needs (I've tested 11 different products!). OpManager on Windows 2003 sp1
has anyone installed OpManager on 2k3 with sp1? if so is there any secret to it. i have tried several times and the service will not start and when i start it manually is just shuts off after a few minutes. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Product/Documentation feedback
The documentation is difficult at best to find anything. Downloaded the .zip, the .pdf hangs about 2/3 through so I cannot get it downloaded. Really unimpressed at this point. Unless I can get this thing figured out and running and working the way "it is supposed to" in the next few days, my recommendation on this product will be don't buy.
