Why the lack of a Desktop Central Knowledge Base?
After working with the product, having several support calls, and many visits to these forms, I am still suprised that the Desktop Central Product does not have its own entry in the ManageEngine Knowledge Base. Can this be resolved (and all the juicy fixes, workarounds and articles be added to it?

Application deploy fails (Desktop Central MSP)
Hi, When we try to install an application, for example Adobe Reader 9, if there is installed Adobe Reader X oin the destination computer, Desktop central warns that it's retrying the operation all the time and it doesn't install the requested program. I mean that if you try to install a program that is lower version than the other installed, the message is that is retrying and it warns an error with 12010 number code. I hope you can help us! Unable to show a popup/progress bar during software deployment
Hi, I'm currently evaluating Desktop Central 7 and mostly its working perfectly. However as all the installations run silent by default, I was trying to add either a vbs script which provides a popup at the start and the end of the installation or by changing the installation method by altering the arguments passed to the msi file. When I do this, a popup does come through but it is somewhat broken. (see attached) I've tested this on multiple computers (different types) on windows xp sp3 neither

Distribution Server
We have today just reinstalled our Distribution Servers on our Remote Offices so that they are installed onto the D:\ however we're having the following issue now : Replication does not seem to be working on any of the servers so the repositories are not populating. The main server continues to download the patch/software package but this isn't being replicated out. Hi, Yesterday we created a new software deployment packet. After, we tried to deploy this software but we had a problem: The packet in question is the program LaboDis. As soon as it is deployed, when we execute this program in PC, it has to find a msi packet in this path (C:\Program Files\DesktopCentral_Agent\swrepository\1\swuploads) and we have seen that it's removed, so the program cannot execute. It seems that the deployment is well done but then it erase the packet wich is necesary to execute

Desktop Central Power Management Deploying But Not Working on local PC
Hello Forum, I seem to be having quite a hard time with the Power Management option in Desktop Central. I'm able to make a new configuration and load the correct settings that I wish to deploy to all our workstations but once the profile is deployed to the workstation it doesn’t work. I'm able to see the power profile under Windows 7 fine and edit the settings etc...... But it will not work. Am I doing something wrong here is there some Administrator setting I’m missing??? Any help on this
Trouble with modifying software licenses
We've recently begun to try to do a software inventory and get away from keeping track of licenses by using paper and binders. As we began to enter what we have on paper into the system so we could scan the computers and compare we quickly realized that we were unable to modify the licenses we'd already entered. Each time we click on "edit license" it shows the screen to enter an entirely new license. So far the only "fixes" we've been offered is to keep updating to the latest build....which is not

Is there any way to limit the size of the Agenttrayicon.log file? I have some PCs in my environment which have only 512MB of RAM and the log files have been growing to over 1G. This is only happening on computers that have Win2K and WinXP as the OS, I can't seem to find this log on our Windows 7 computers (as there is no longer a Local Settings\Temp folder location for this OS. Patch Error
Issues with PatchID 90000 - patch will fail and the Remarks state that there was a "Problem while downloading the patch from the server". If I manually download this patch from the Microsoft website (kb890830) and then re-scan the system, Desktop Central reports that the system is up to date.

Hi, Yesterday, I inserted custom data for computers with "Feed custom data for computers" tool, but today, I have saw that it didn't change in all the computers. Now, I have done the same and now it's all right. It is possible that the problem were the turned off computers. Shouldn't update this information when the computers are going to turned on? Hi I am fairly new to using Desktop Central and I am seeing something that is potentially a bit odd. Our Desktop Central is set to automatically scan, download and apply updates, however a few machines seem to need updates which are marked as having an approve status of 'Not Approved' - what causes these to appear as not approved and why do they need to be pushed manually.
Continuous Redeployment of Configurations
I would like to set up continuous redeployment of configurations, but it seems that once a configuration has been executed, you have to modify it, then redeploy it. My end result is, I would like to deploy a shortcut to a certain group of users' desktops. If one of them should delete it, I would like for the shortcut to automatically reappear again. The same with software installs, if I have to reimage a computer, I would like to have all previously executed configurations redeploy automatically

Hello, Seeing as Desktop Central runs using Apache, what would be the best way for me to update it to the newer release 2.2.20 or greater without breaking Desktop Central? The security team at my company wants me to bring the version of Apache up to version of 2.2.20 or later in order to address some security issues with older version of Apache.
