Server in Inventory and SOM as failed install of agent
I am showing multiple servers that have successfully installed the DC Agent, and are showing in the inventory and seem to be working properly, but at the same time, they show under the scope of management under the Installation Failed. If I remove them from the Installation Failed list, they are removed from the Inventory and I have not been able to add them back in (even after reinstallation of the DC Agent). Personal Wallpapers and Computer Name Change
Hi, I applied a configuration under the Display option to change the my computer name to the computer name. This applied but it also wiped out the personal wallpapers on each client. I didn't set a wallpaper and want to allow them to keep their personal wallpaper yet change the my computer name. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

Inventory not updated correctly
Greetings, Not sure if this is a known issue, or if a ticket should be opened but here's the issue: For many software items, the DCentral inventory is not 'updated' correctly for many software packages that are patched or upgraded. These packages do not have duplicate entries in add/remove programs, or in the registry hive section where it seems DCentral pulls much of its software inventory info from: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall Software such as Adobe
Forgot Admin Account Password
Hello, It was password reset day a couple days ago so I changed all the admin passwords and forgot the local admin account password for DC. Is there a way I can reset it or change it? Schedule Shutdown with failed status
Dear Forum, I'm having problem with Schedule Shutdown, i have been monitoring this situation since upgrading from version 7.2.34 to version 7.2.39 (21/09/2011). Is there a way to block software from being installed? I realize that the Prohibited software removes unwanted software, but I would like to stop users from installing certain programs in the first place. Is this something can currently be accomplished or will it need to be an added feature in a later build update?

We are using the Desktop Central that came with the upgrade from MSP center lite to MSP Center Plus. The Desktop central agent no longer has the ability to send a help desk request. Is there a way to get this back?
Building a Custom Report.
When I try building a custom report it does not let me include more than one computer. I want to make a custom report that shows how much hard drive space is avalible for a couple of computers. It works fine when I add one computer but shows no data when I add more than one to the filter. Please help. I need to make a report that shows about 5 of my servers not my whole network.
Desktop Central 7 with non windows domain controller
We are considering getting rid of our windows SBS and replacing it with a Linux-based OpenLDAP/Samba server as a domain controller and for authentication. I'd really love to see the Copy File/Folder option fleshed out so that it can be done based on file date. Basically you'd select copy file, select the copy from location, select the copy to location and would have the criteria set to when newer. Automatically applying settings/applications to new computers
Hi I do not know if this is already a feature or not but is there a way to set a configuration that is mandatory for all computers even if desktop central does not know about the computer yet? E.G if we add a new machine to active directory, Desktop Central would automatically push a configuration down to it, or if a piece of mandatory software was removed, Desktop Central would re install it during the next refresh interval?
HP Product Number
Hello! I am trying to update my warranty information for my workstations. Specifically, HP workstations. I know that you need to add the information in the custom feed area. My issue is that when I go to put in the product number (i.e. VS844UT#ABA) in, I get the following error "Warranty Details cannot be fetched because the given details are wrong". This also makes DC think that the computer is out of warranty when in fact, it is not. Thanks Charles

Inventory doesn´t show true information
Hi, A client has a problem that some PC with Solid Edge X version and Service Pack B, and the inventory shows the same PC with Solid Edge X version and Service Pack A and Service Pack B. After uninstall agent, remove PC from the Desktop Central panel and install the agent, now inventory shows the correct information. How could I reset, remove or force to update the inventory for a PC and not to spend much time uninstalling, removing,.... ? Thanks!
Java 1.6.0.29 Patch Problem
DC Team, I am having a strange issue trying to utilize patch management to update my workstations from Java 1.6.0.26 to 1.6.0.29. No matter how I configure the upgrade, the end result is Desktop Central reporting the patch was applied successfully. However, the machines still still have only 1.6.0.26. I've tried with and without reboots. With and without the Zoho signed Java Helper. At start up. At refresh. With or without user intervention, etc, etc... Tried calling support, 2135 EDT,

Adding targets to configuration
I`m managing a company with 150 workgroups over 150 subnets. I have created a configuration i want to deploy to these workgroups. Next step is to add targets to the configuration. My problem is: since i have 150 workgroups. I have to add them one at a time. And since it`s not possible to make groups of computers across workgroups. I`m for the moment better of running psexec. Why the lack of a Desktop Central Knowledge Base?
After working with the product, having several support calls, and many visits to these forms, I am still suprised that the Desktop Central Product does not have its own entry in the ManageEngine Knowledge Base. Can this be resolved (and all the juicy fixes, workarounds and articles be added to it?

Hi, When we try to install an application, for example Adobe Reader 9, if there is installed Adobe Reader X oin the destination computer, Desktop central warns that it's retrying the operation all the time and it doesn't install the requested program. I mean that if you try to install a program that is lower version than the other installed, the message is that is retrying and it warns an error with 12010 number code. I hope you can help us! Hi, I'm currently evaluating Desktop Central 7 and mostly its working perfectly. However as all the installations run silent by default, I was trying to add either a vbs script which provides a popup at the start and the end of the installation or by changing the installation method by altering the arguments passed to the msi file.
