Wake on LAN tool in desktop central
It won't save more than 10 computers/targets when configuring a scheduled task for wake on lan. I can add more than 10, but once I submit the task, only 10 are saved. If I edit the task and add computers again, when selecting, I can select all again and it lists fine, but once submitted, only 10 are saved.
7.000sp2.246 minor annoyance
Today I decided to add an extra IP so my users laptops can connect to a public IP when out of the office. I thought it moist logical to do this in the DC server migration settings and simply put the original name and IP in the Server IP box and my public (firewall mapped) IP in the secondary IP box and push it out to all clients. Effectively migrating to and from the same server but advising clients that a second IP is available for when they cannot see the primary IP. It will not let me do this,
Prohibited software report update - shows old data
Once prohibited software has been removed from the computer, it still shows that software as being installed on the user's computer. For example; John-PC installs uTorrent.exe which is banned. We remove the software from John-PC, but when we load up the Systems with Prohibited Software tab within the Configure Prohibited Software option it still shows John-PC as having uTorren.exe installed. 3rd Party SSL Woes
Build 70234 of DC. I'm able to enable HTTPS with the selfsigned certs and connect to via port 8383. Generated csr, submitted and received official cert (used 2048 in command line as we cannot get 1024 certs from InCommon setup). However, after copying the .key and cer, renaming cer to crt and re-starting server, I get no response from server at the previous 8383 port. Software Deployments and Global view
I would like to make a feature request. We have just installed the patch and have DesktopCentral integrated into ServiceDesk. It works well. I was showing the technicians how to use the software deployment and where they could see all the old jobs that had run (by selecting the Global radio button). When we went into one of the configurations, I realized that anyone can run that job using my elevated AD account that is in the job configuration. Distribution server file locations.
Hi, I have been using desktop central 7 for almost a year acronn our LAN and am looking to expand to update machines across our WAN. Our remote sites have only 1 DC at each site! - therefore - I have added a remote site and downloaded the agent zip file. Then I have installed the remote distribution server on the DC. This appears to install directly to the C: drive without any options. My problem being there will not be enough space on the c: drive to sync all the updates!! - Could you please
Schedule restart "Reflect Custom Group Changes" don't work
Hello, we use "Custom groups" to deploy and restart our servers. When I add new computers to a "Cutom group" the system don't reflect this change to a schedule restart task. The option "Reflect Custom Group Changes" is on. When I manuell at the custom group again to the restart task all new system are visible. Same problem when we remove computers from a "custom group". No problem with a deploymenttask over "Automatic Patch Deployment". We use the latest public build: 70246 Hope you can fix this

Desktop Central - migration from MSP Center Lite
Ok, we had the MSP Center Lite solution since before. We upgraded to version 9 - that means MSP Center Plus. By this we lost patch management and more. With this in mind we now have Desktop Central as well. But my question is - how can i migrate the customer settings from MSP Center to Desktop Central. As of what I've heard they should be able to run over the same agent, but how do I do the migration of customer data?

Hi Desktop Central agent installed on desktop which is in the workgroup, when we right click on taskbar icon and say send request to helpdesk, its not showing the from email address. the desktop is configured with pop email but agent not picking up the from email address. how we can get that in place so that we can avoid typing from address everytime. Agent Auto Deletion
Some products have a facility that will auto delete agents from the central server after X amount of days in order to keep the DB clean from stale entries (example: Symantec Endpoint Protection). USB hard disk in inventory list
I recentky attached a 2 TB USB hard disk to one of the PC under Desktop central management. I cannot find it's information under the inventory, computer, Hardware list. U run scan process on that PC, and I cannot find it update in the hardware list. Any suggestion? Raphael
Feed Custom Data for Computer in Desktop Central
Hi there, I have successfully imported a csv file with custom information for our computers into desktop central. However the only issue I'm having is that there are fields I want to change that I don't seem to be able to do. For example - the Primary Owner field. I want to set this to which branch, department, or job-site the computer is associated to. How would I go about doing that? Also - I primarily started looking into this only because Desktop Central can't seem truncate the product number
Can we see the disk space information in inventory tab with attached USB hard disk
Recently I attached a 2TB USB hard disk to one of the PC, and it will be always ON. After I run scan on that PC. I cannot find the attacched USB disk information under the PC's inverntory on Hardware tab. I wonder, is the current build 70246 support to display attached USB hard disk?
[ERROR] InstallEXEFile : Failed to set the CurrentDirectory
Hello, I am getting an error when trying to deploy software from a network share. The share has the "Everyone" permission, so the agents can Read, Execute and list files in the directory/share. I have also verified (using Start->Run) that the command line arguments I entered in to the Configuration can be successfully executed from a machine running the desktop central agent. What have I missed? The error occurs when the agent attempts to ChangeDirectory, this error causes the installation to fail.
Server in Inventory and SOM as failed install of agent
I am showing multiple servers that have successfully installed the DC Agent, and are showing in the inventory and seem to be working properly, but at the same time, they show under the scope of management under the Installation Failed. If I remove them from the Installation Failed list, they are removed from the Inventory and I have not been able to add them back in (even after reinstallation of the DC Agent). Personal Wallpapers and Computer Name Change
Hi, I applied a configuration under the Display option to change the my computer name to the computer name. This applied but it also wiped out the personal wallpapers on each client. I didn't set a wallpaper and want to allow them to keep their personal wallpaper yet change the my computer name. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

Inventory not updated correctly
Greetings, Not sure if this is a known issue, or if a ticket should be opened but here's the issue: For many software items, the DCentral inventory is not 'updated' correctly for many software packages that are patched or upgraded. These packages do not have duplicate entries in add/remove programs, or in the registry hive section where it seems DCentral pulls much of its software inventory info from: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall Software such as Adobe
Forgot Admin Account Password
Hello, It was password reset day a couple days ago so I changed all the admin passwords and forgot the local admin account password for DC. Is there a way I can reset it or change it? Schedule Shutdown with failed status
Dear Forum, I'm having problem with Schedule Shutdown, i have been monitoring this situation since upgrading from version 7.2.34 to version 7.2.39 (21/09/2011). Is there a way to block software from being installed? I realize that the Prohibited software removes unwanted software, but I would like to stop users from installing certain programs in the first place. Is this something can currently be accomplished or will it need to be an added feature in a later build update?

We are using the Desktop Central that came with the upgrade from MSP center lite to MSP Center Plus. The Desktop central agent no longer has the ability to send a help desk request. Is there a way to get this back?
Building a Custom Report.
When I try building a custom report it does not let me include more than one computer. I want to make a custom report that shows how much hard drive space is avalible for a couple of computers. It works fine when I add one computer but shows no data when I add more than one to the filter. Please help. I need to make a report that shows about 5 of my servers not my whole network.
Desktop Central 7 with non windows domain controller
We are considering getting rid of our windows SBS and replacing it with a Linux-based OpenLDAP/Samba server as a domain controller and for authentication. Does anyone know if Desktop Central will still work properly with this setup? I'm not sure if it uses the current Windows domain controller for pushing software/configurations/updates/etc. Thanks.

I'd really love to see the Copy File/Folder option fleshed out so that it can be done based on file date. Basically you'd select copy file, select the copy from location, select the copy to location and would have the criteria set to when newer. Automatically applying settings/applications to new computers
Hi I do not know if this is already a feature or not but is there a way to set a configuration that is mandatory for all computers even if desktop central does not know about the computer yet? E.G if we add a new machine to active directory, Desktop Central would automatically push a configuration down to it, or if a piece of mandatory software was removed, Desktop Central would re install it during the next refresh interval?
HP Product Number
Hello! I am trying to update my warranty information for my workstations. Specifically, HP workstations. I know that you need to add the information in the custom feed area. My issue is that when I go to put in the product number (i.e. VS844UT#ABA) in, I get the following error "Warranty Details cannot be fetched because the given details are wrong". This also makes DC think that the computer is out of warranty when in fact, it is not. Thanks Charles
