Remote Connection
Hello, guys. At much time we use your system – ServiceDesk Plus, version – 8.0.0. And all of it components work as well as we need. But a few time ago we have seen a problem with remote desktop connection in your program. When we want connect to any desktop in our office, we have been a message:common error with next operation. We wait while agent will install and then this error to be displayed. We try install agent from .exe file, but this method doesn't bring good results. Please help)
Event ID 1015 MsiInstaller Error
Although patches seem to be installing to clients I'm getting an Event Id 1015 MsiInstaller error in the event logs with the description "Failed to connect to server. Error: 0x800401F0" Any ideas why?

Hello, we need some improvements in Desktop Central: 1. When I use "Custon Groups". The managed computers don't display in which group they are. I can only enter each group and find the server/s. 2. I need a report which deploymenttask are active on a managed computer. 3. On "Tools\Remote Shutdown" "Schedule Shutdown" the "Task name" is not complete visible. I only see the first 10 words. 4. When I use "Custom groups" to deploy patches (Auto patch management) and restart servers. Both system works
How to deploy Adobe AIR file?
My company uses an application for our vendors that is installed as an Adobe AIR file. We also install it on some in-house users for support purposes. Is there a way to package an AIR file so it can be deployed via Desktop Central, rather than manually installing it one at a time?
DC agent error
Hello Folk, I'm DC beginer.. I've started testing DC and deployed the agent on several winxp machines for a week.. We noticed on more and more workstations when IT admins logged in them with local amdin rights they receive error messages in popup window about dcagentservice.exe application error.. wrong memory address etc.. Although the DC agents are working fine on the affected machines.. it wouldn't be a big problem if only the admin users can see this message but from today 2 normal users have
Differences between reports and inventory
Clicking Inventory-> Software-> and look for office 2003 enterprise does not appear, but if you go to report -> report-user> software -> office 2003 enterprise looking if it appears. Its a bug ???
Assets not passing to Servicedesk
I have just set up servicedesk plus pro (30 day demo) and am slightly confused. I have configured the integration with desktop central but none of the assets I have already scanned are being passed across to servicedesk, Due to the fact I am probably being stupid, can someone put me out of my misery ?

Hello. I`ve just reinstalled desktop central on my server 2003 SBS, because it crashed. After I did it on remote computers (with reinstalled DCAgent) error appears only two times after user log on and after user log off. Event log 1004 application error dcconfig.exe, version 0.0.0.0 dcconfig.exe, version 0.0.0.0, error address 0x000019ff. Thanks.

Complete Port List
Hello, I'm looking for a complete list of TCP ports I need to have open on the CLIENT (not server) firewall when the agent is installed on the Local Network (not remote). The initial install goes though, but no communication is functioning afterwards. ie. An inventory scan generated from the Server Console times out. Configuration changes (patch installation) are never picked up. Separately, I am also looking for a complete TCP port list for my REMOTE CLIENT's (not server) firewall as well.

Install SP 1 of office 2010
Hello, I test “Desktop centra”l in my office to deploy patch on ours system. I can install patch without problem. I can also install service pack of windows without problem. But, I can't install SP1 of office 2010. Every time I try to deploy it, I received a message that the patch is not valid for my computer. Could you help me to deploy it? Does anyone know of a report in DC7 where I can see what system received what patches on what date? Specifically I would like to see patches that were pushed out in the last day and to what systems they were installed. I poured through the logs to no avail and servers were patched when they should not have been, I need to have those boxes tested to verify proper operation..
Desktop Security Configuration not applying
Hello, I have two machines that auto login with their own user account. I created a security configuration in DC that is suppose to prohibit the users from altering, adding, deleting or editing items on the desktop. However, after having the agent apply the configuration manually and waiting for the 90 minute interval to refresh it seems the configuration has not applied. I set the config. to apply to those machines and those two users. I've added the DC agent as a security risk exception in Symantec
Desktop Central Hangs during Software Deployment Set up
Occaisonally during set up of a new or changing an existing deployment configuration, the Desktop Central site hangs, usually when either adding a package to the config, or when adding targets. Am running latest service pack and patches. Any assistance is appreciated.
Application deploy fails
Hi, When we try to install an application, for example Adobe Reader 9, if there is installed Adobe Reader X oin the destination computer, Desktop central warns that it's retrying the operation all the time and it doesn't install the requested program. I mean that if you try to install a program that is lower version than the other installed, the message is that is retrying and it warns an error with 12010 code. I hope you can help us! Regards!
Do Distribution Servers copy Network Share package for distribution at remote sites?
I am curious if the distribution servers would copy something like MS Office to itself for distribution to the remote clients? I would not want the remote cielnts trying to install the software from Main DC Server. If not... Only solution I see is setting up a Sofftware Library at each remote site and creating seperate packages for the same install, but with thier network paths for each remote site using the remote software library. WmiPrvSE high CPU usage after agent install
I've rolled out the Manageengine Desktop Agent (v7.2.30) to several clients now, and each one of them is experiencing high CPU usage for the process WmiPrvSE.exe after the first restart. They are all Windows 7 Pro clients, and the 32-bit versions are getting CPU usage in the range 50%+, while my 64-bit client is experiencing constant 5%+ usage. Neither machine showed this sort of behaviour before rolling the agent out. Does anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this (I've tried leaving the machines
Patch status 'Not Approved'
Why are some MS patches marked 'Not Approved' - this happens automatically, Is it becuase the application or need is not seen on the target client? What should I do with these 'Not Approved' patches ?

dcconfig.exe application error
Hello I am running desktop central on approx 450 machines and have a dcconfig.exe application error randomly appear on 3-4 machines. Doesn't seem to effect perfomance, but it appears 2-3 times a day. I am using agent version 7.2.29 and have tried removing an re-installing the agent on the affected machines - does nay one have any suggestions on what is causing this and how to fix it
Suggestions for automatic patch management
Firstly, thanks to the DC team for the effort they have put into adding features into the product this year. Really good job! I have a suggestion that relates to the automatic patch process. I use DC to manage a number of laptops that are always on the move. This means that they are often never connected to the network when the auto-patch task is scheduled to run which means that the laptops take forever to be patched. What I think would be great is functionally that allows for auto-patch tasks
DC Log file format
Is it possible to create log files in a format that can be viewed with f.ex trace32 instead of i plain txt-format? I find the standard txt-file logs to be quite hard to view in notepad/wordpad as opposed to f.ex SCCM-log files that is easily viewed in trace32. Adding additional domain controllers to credentials
Can we please have the option to add additional domain controllers when using "Edit Credentials" to modify a domain. The reason for this is I am testing upgrading the software to the latest version by cloning the live server into a test VMWare environment. The server is a domain controller, however is not the one specified in the "Edit Credentials". Because the network is disabled on this test machine I discovered you cannot login as the machine cannot contact the named DC to authenticate the user.
Software Metering rules
I have created asoftware metering rule and enabled it. When I go to the reports, inventory reports, Application metering rules summary report it does not show anything and says there are no rules added. I have asked a colleague to try and they have the same issue. Question: How do I get my rules to show up? thanks in advance

I'm using DC v70234 on Server 2008. Using agent v7.2.33 on Windows 7 SP1 x86 with Aero enabled. When I create a helpdesk ticket and select the option to include a screenshot, the screenshot is black. I've attached the screenshot.
Software in the Inventory tab is missing!
After scanning several PC's, I had a list of 200 apps/software/drivers that were unidentified. I began by selecting the first 25, and moving their licence type from unidentifed to commercial. This than moved the software into the new category. But as soon as this was completed, I lost access to all the other software. DC not sending workstation warranty info to SDP
We using DC build 70234 and SDP build 8015. I followed the instructions to integrate the two products together. In DC, I have linked to our SDP server, the API key was validated, and I checked the following features to integrate: IT Asset Data, Software Deployment, and Log Help Desk requests as alerts and tickets. There must be a way to give different username and password while using Drive Mapping option, for accessing the network drive that has selected users allowed.
Attach screenshot to ticket
I noticed that when attaching a screenshot to a ticket to be sent to SDP, the format is BMP and the size is large. Is it possible to change it to PNG instead? Thanks!
Must be an option to enforce configuration happening instantly
I feel it's much better to force the configuration happening instantly,without waiting for refresh interval or system restart , because it is not a good practice in some configurations like creating a new user on workgroup computer,since i can't be wasting time by restarting the policy affected computer just to create a new User and we all know that creating a user is that simple in WindowsXP and does not need even a minute.
Limit AD reports to specific OUs?
We are part of a larger company and only control a subset of all the OUs in AD. Is there a way to limit reports to just the OUs we control? We don't need to see users/computers for the entire organization--just our specific one. Thanks!
Distribution server and agent type
We have 20 branch offices connected to our central office via VPN. When deploying agents, do we need to deploy the WAN agents or the LAN agents? We would like to use the software distribution functionality of DC so we can push software to the distribution servers to save considerable bandwidth. Firefox 6 Software Deployment
I'm trying to use Desktop Central to deploy Firefox 6 to a test machine. If I can get it to work I'll be using it to deploy to 100+ machines. However, I'm having a lot of difficulties getting it to install properly. 1.) Ability to scan Lenovo/IBM hardware warranty 2.) Ability to clone configurations with only "Successful" computers included. Right now we only have the option for none, failed, or all. 3.) Ability to make software prohibited but hidden from the user prompt when it is discovered. I like to add software to prohibited so I can easily track it when it gets uninstalled but I don't want the user to be prompted/notified. Thank you!
