Genral Failure on every PC scan ...was able to scan before
A few days ago everything was working fine and there has been no changes, but now everytime I do a manual scan of a workstation, I get a "General failure while performing the operation" message. I get this message with every workstation I scan. This started happening yesterday. Has anyone had this happen to them and is there a solution?
Upgrade to 6014 - observations
I upgraded our production server from build 6010 to 6014 (using MySQL) a couple mights ago, and it appears to have completed successfully with no major hiccups, other than a couple techs experiencing some errors that disappeared after clearing their browser cache. Just wanted to offer a note of appreciation and to show others here that not all upgrades end in catastrophe. Requester as approver
Hi, everyone. Is it possible to assign SDApprovePO to requester ? Or is it possible to create such role for technician to recieve such interface like Self Service Portal plus POs? For example I whant business manager (not part of IT) to be possible to approve PO directly from Self Service portal. I have no Account managers logged as technician possible to request approval from business. Right now I have to print this PO and than take a signature from manager and after that approve request manually
Signature on outgoing emails
Is it possible or would it be possible to include in a future release the ability to add a technician signature email to replys to job requests? As a technician if i email a client from outlook i include a signature with my contact details on it. but i have not found a way to include this information in Servicedesk when i am emailing a client about a job. The only way i can see this happening at the moment is if i copy and paste one from a text file or something. it would be much better if i could
Previously could do domain scan, now cannot, running samba
Hi All, I installed SD 7 on a windows 2000 server and could never successfully run a Domain Scan I called tech support, they said it was because I'm using Samba with an ldap backend. I installed it on a Windows XP machine and it scanned the domain without problem. Now I called support again to ask them to get it working on my windows 2000 server (where it will be installed if we buy it), and I went to show them how it worked on the windows xp machine, and it is giving an error as well, it tries enumerating
Relation asset-user from AD in SDP
Hi, We have a customer who is working with SDP 6 (6013), he had assigned the assets (Pc�s) with the users, but he recently he migrated these PC�s from Windows XP to Vista and lost this relation between users-assets. He tell us that has established this relation in AD, this is, he link between the user with their desktop, but in ServiceDesk doesn�t appear this relation. What they can do or what we can recomend to do?
Email - RFC Compliance
The mail client you used to send messages is not RFC compliant. It does not add the current date in the message headers and all messages that lacks of the current date in the headers are being automatically rejected by our servers as spam. Is there someway to address this?

Reporting on Time Created
Is there a way to create custom reports based on Time Created and not just Date created? We want to see what time calls are coming in and more importantly how many calls are coming in after 5pm and before 8am. Thanks. :D

Moving Servicedesk
We are trying to move the application side of Servicedesk plus 7 Enterprise to another server. The problem we are having is that service desk is trying to recreate the Database. Is there a way we simply connect to the same database without having to backup and restore to a new one?
mail notification and exchange server
Quick Question- I have servicedesk plus in an environment where I have exchange set up, but do not have the ports open for pop3. Server crash
Hello all, I'm in a bit of a pickle. We had a server crash and had some data corruption. Long story short I do not have a backup of SD+ other than our standard backup of the installation folder. Is there any way that I can reinstall the application and then migrate the data to it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Chris
servicedesk enterprise trial on 2003 server
Hello, we are running ServiceDeskPlus enterprise newest Trial, also OPManager, OPManager tools and ADManager. The mysql is selected as DB�s in all cases, we are running it on win2003 server, all none of them are stable, they keep crashing, mostly the OPManager and OPManager utilise but also the ServiceDeskPlus and ADManager are crashing, they all run on their own ports and all run as individual service. We hope also that the poor performance will UP once we hit the DB�s on our mssql cluster. No errors
Cant rename state to other language SD+ 7005
Hi I have found a bug (I think). We use SD+ Build 7005 swedish language. Some futures are not enabled to change. Go to: Admin tab, helpdesk adjustments, status. All functions/features are disabled (grey marked). Is there anyone who can solve this? Regards / Robert Andersson Sweden
Resend approval notice
Maybe I am missing something, but there doesn't appear to be any way to resend an approval notice in the event that the user deletes the email by accident. We can, of course, send another approval notice, but then that shows two identical approvals on the request, only one of which will be answered. Is there an option I am missing somewhere to resend the approval notice for an approval already in the system, or will I need to make this a feature request? I am running build 6014 btw.
Need to disable PassThrough Authentication
Passthrough Authentication isn't working for us, so I want to disable it. Unfortunately, the login box never pops up, so I am also unable to login with the local admin account. Is there a way to disable this so I can get in and re-scan AD?
configure SD Plus to run on port 80 rather than 8080
right now I get to SDplus by typing in http://servername:8080 I'm being told I need to configure SDplus on port 80 before I can do a CNAME addition so all my employees need to do is type in http://servicedesk and it will go to http://servicedesk.x.com Can someone help me. Thank you in advance! Dean

Server crash
Hello, I am in a bit of a pickle. Our server crashed and we had some semi-serious data corruption. Long story short I don't have a SD backup of Servicedesk. User don't stay logged in
I've made a fresh install of the SDP7 and I`m gettin the follow: When I log from a machine in the network and try to access any link, I get redirected to the login page, so I log in again and the destination opens... It occours in all parts of the program... I tried to clean the IE cache, etc... But still the same... When I use it directly from the machine it is installed this issue doesn`t occours... I`m trying the SDP7 and this issue is getting me crazy.... :lol: Thanks in advance,
AD login issues for Helpdesk
We are having an issue with our Helpdesk install, the AD server it was pointing to has blown up (It was a non critical machine and was there as a backup to our site AD server). None of our users and our admins can login, how can I repoint the AD links without being able to login, is there a script or db entry we can amend? Kind Regards Chris Smith

I am considering replacing my Track-It! software with something like ServiceDesk, LANDesk or Altiris. From the number of support issues it seems that SD has a great deal of bugs. What is the current user verdict?
What happened to the Request Types?
I am running SD+ v7.0.0 build 7005 and within the Admin area there are Request Types defined. However, when I create a request there is no field on the form for me to specify the request type. I have double checked all of the obvious places, but can't see one anywhere or any setting to enable/disable it. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks Jonathan
Request template information into tasks
I'm testing version 7 of SD+ and trying to create request templates. I have modified the standard new joinee template that is on there by default. I populate the description with the new user details, when the tasks are created, none of this information is populated in the task, ie create AD entry is the blank standard task template from the new joinee template. am I missing something ? I would assume that the call created with the information in the description would auto populate into the task

Business Rules actions should override any Request Defaults
It is my opinion Business Rules actions should override any Request Defaults rather than the other way around. Setting a default field value in build 7002 completely cancels out the ability to define exceptions for that field based on business rules. Not only would it provide much better Rules flexibility, but it makes more sense given the general definition of what "default" means. Thanks for considering.
backup script does not start service after backup
I have a scheduled task that runs the following script on my ServiceDesk server every day at 1 a.m.: cd c:\adventnet\me\servicedesk\bin call sd_service.bat -p server\default\conf\wrapper.conf call backupdata.bat call sd_service.bat -t server\default\conf\wrapper.conf I know that the last line of the script is supposed to restart the service, but it does not work. Monitors
I have created an IT asset called monitor and imported a load of monitor assets in to it. The only way I can see to attach them to a computer or user is with add relationship. Is this correct? I have a monitor now that has died and want to remove its relationship but can't see any way to do that! Thanks Richard
Accidently load lots of Software Licenses
I somehow incorrectly entered a software license that had a quantity of 54426 records. The software License portion of Service Desk becam unresponsive. I went into the database directly and delte the records in the SoftwareLicenses table. The Software license portion is still really slow. What did I miss?
Language issue
Hello again.. I have a 2003/sql2005/7005 ML Enterprise config.. In this configuration ML seems to work excellent. There are some small issues with the language translation to Norwegian though.. AD can not full import
during import AD, if user under 5 levels groups, they can not import for example, a user name tony, the group sturc is ABC Co,-->China Sub Co.-->Shen Zhen Unit-->Sales Dep-->Sales Team A-->Tony he can not import, it seems the program don't scan the group under 4 level. please help.

Hello, Could anyone assist me to set up efficiently getting tasks assigned to non technicians? I am setting up a template for a New Joinee and want to assign the task of setting up a desk and furniture to a non-licensed technician. By creating a technician from an "Office Manager" requester and removing the log-in, I can get a task assigned to an Office Manager and an email notification sent to him. The licensed technician who has been assigned the request can cut and paste the new joinee information
