How to handle masses of patches?
Hi @ all, we are currently performing maintenance for our Windows systems and there is a problem we ran into: At the beginning of every quarter of the year we check our clients and servers for "missing patches", which we have already deploxed (status approved). Now, when I look for these patches I get a result of over 300 patches, some are missing on only one client, some are missing at more than 20. Remote Control confirmation specific Users
Here's what I'm looking to do. 1. PC Techs will have ability to remote control any machine without confirmation as they always have. 2. UserA will only have the ability to remote any machine WITH confirmation. Question on how patches are rolled out
I noticed that a single Windows update will list a system multiple times. For instance, MS15-116 will be listed for a system for Access, Publisher, and Word. Each instance has a different patch ID number. So, I have two questions; Does the client get queried multiple times for the same Bulletin? Does the get the same Bulletin pushed to it multiple times? We are having issues with the updates taking too long and this could be part of the problem. Thanks, Beck

By default the url name after the installation is http://localhost:8020 . i want to change the url name to desktopcentral. Where can i change this. In DSP you can easy change this in the general settings.
Software License Question
Good day, I setup Manage License to track how many Microsoft Office 2013 Pro Plus installation we had (these were incorrectly installed by a contractor) so we could begin the process of uninstalling them and install O365 Pro Plus. This worked well and picked up all the computers with the incorrect version installed. It showed me that there were 113 under licensed computers out there. Migrating to SQL Server error on login
I want to migrate the PostgreSQL database to SQL Server 2008 R2 on another machine. I cannot use the sa account to do so. I need to use a Windows account, and I want to use an account dedicated to Desktop Central. I need to know the minimum rights the account needs to accomplish the database migration. Windows Patch Updates using all available disk space
I have been applying Windows Updates to my fleet of Win7 computers for about 6 months now. The computers all have 128GB hard drives and are now becoming full of old updates that are never cleared out. What is the best way to use Desktop Central to recover disk space again? Cheers, Steve.

We never installed this software before. But some how today we see that not only was it updating on pc's but that it somehow got installed on multiple computer in our network. Is there a reason why this would happen?

Migrate DC build 91085 from 32-bit to 64-bit
Have a business need to migrate our DC instance from an old 32-bit server (Win 2k3) to 64-bit server (Win 2k8 R2 or higher). The documentation I found (https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/desktop-central-server-migration-how-to.html?dci) says to NOT migrate from 32 to 64. Is this still the case? Isn't there anything I can do to migrate the data over/restore the database on a new server? Thank you, Spence Lome
Latest released patches notification (Think Mitre CVE)
Is there an easy way in patch management to see what the latest released patches are? I know I can go into the patches and sort by date but having something similar to the Mitre CVE website or Adobe's critical update notification would be helpful to keep it all in one place. Is there a report that can be run perhaps to let you know of the latest patches that were added to the database? Thanks.

Last boot time (Where does it get this from)
Hey all, Long time listener, first time caller (poster). I have a client that runs this software, that I have full access to and they repeatedly ask me questions that I cannot answer. Haha! The client is reporting incorrect boot times and dates in ManageEngine Desktop, I can confirm they are the incorrect dates, so I was wondering where this information is pulled from? Is it pulled from the machines system time? If so, this might explain why it is incorrect. Any insight would be very much appreciated.
patch scan discrepancy
Hello, I have few systems which I tried to scan with DC and it comes with very few (5) MS Office updates, and NO OS updates, but when I ran Windows update, it came up with 37 OS updates. Its been happening with other systems as well. I already uploaded the logs!! Please advise! thanks, Zahid
Patch Mgmt - Mozy Unable to Reach the Domain
I've been getting a warning on my Patch Mgmt tab indicating "Desktop Central server does not have access to reach some domains to download patch related files in the following formats: .7z, .zip, .exe, .msi etc ". Checking the details shows 3 URL's for Mozy backup (not used) that are failing. Is everyone else having the same issue?
Uninstall Microsoft Project & Visio Silently?
So this would assume to be super simple.. Silently Uninstall Visio Pro/Premium & Project Professional 2010. Until i try to do it from Desktop Central. The standard Uninstall button doesn't work. Copying scripts below and deploying them doesn't work. Script that everyone on the internet says works.. Which works Manually ran but not from Desktop Central via .bat. Basic Script to begin Uninstall: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE14\Office Setup Controller\setup.exe" /uninstall
agent not auto updating
I have a few servers in a remote office that will would not update the agent. Is there a way to reinstall the latest agent form the machine? I can not manage the servers from the web console because it show as if the computers are offline, so i can not remotely uninstall the agent. When I try to push the new agent it tells me that it first needs to be uninstalled which I can find how to do. I have tried running the install script but it does not work.
Silent Agent Deploy via Script
I'm look for some help creating a script to install the desktop central agent. The script will run as part of the Windows Deployment Toolkit task sequence once after the reference image has been applied so it will not be generalized. Would I be able to use msiexec to run the windows installer and mst? Thanks in advance.
Best way to upgrade and patch multiple versions of Adobe Falsh
My company just started using Desktop Central (this month) and I'm wondering what would be the best way to upgrade multiple different versions of Adobe Flash? It appears they now have an update to prevent Ransomeware and we'd like to get everyone upgraded. If I push down the latest patch will that automatically upgrade older versions or do I need to setup and upgrade path for all the older versions first? We've never been able to upgrades like this in the past so we have a wide range of versions
Can I alert on Diskspace?
I recognize that opmanager can monitor and alert on diskspace usage. But as desktops all have the DTC agent, and DTC does have disk usage recorded, is there a way I can alert based on disk usage in Desktop Central? If so how? I have not spent much time on the reporting in DTC, and think I'll spend my next focus on that. Thank you
Wake On LAN Report
Is there a way to run a report to identify those computers we have on our network that are not WOL enabled? From my understandining in order to push a patch to those computers turned off we can do the WOL option, but only on computers that have this enabled. I was hoping I could identify those that are enabled or those that are not enabled. We could then go and turn the WOL on the computers needed from a list instead of touching every computer in our network. Thanks, Rita

I recognize that I can "sort" computers by domain, but I would like the ability to add technicians to Desktop Central but only allow them to manage computers: > By Domain and as a subset of that top level distinction > By Operating System (ie, servers -vs- desktop) We have 10 Desktop support persons that have separate responsibilities by location. Why does this happens. Please explain.... service.exe executes dcconfig.exe executes cmd.exe executes reg.exe reg.exe then creates a binary file in c:\program files\desktopcentral_agent\logs called "dcagent.reg" It appears you are pulling down the registry values for your agent as a backup or as documentation for support (if needed). Please confirm. Also, is there any way to stop this? We are trying to tighten down reg.exe.

Custom Scheduled Patch Report
Need to simply create a report showing the following columns and scheduled to run daily. Im in change of a set of computers and want a report tailored to my computers, showing the following columns, computer name being filtered to a handful of computers, not all. computer name | last boot time | disk free | number of missing patches Cant find a built in report or query that can give me these results. disable windows update locally
I saw it and ill be darned if i can find it again. However i saw where i can block users from using windows update locally on their computers using security settings in DTC but i cant find that setting in DTC. Mind pointing me in the correct direction? I thought it was under configurations > security policy > user> but i cant find it.. I am pretty sure i am just looking past it. Thanks!!!
How to disable "New software is Available" notification?
I need to sometimes use "Allow User to interact with the installation/uninstallation Windows setting" when deploying software to computers. Desktop Central Remote Office Syncronization kills WAN
I see in scope of management I can reduce the default synchronization speed for each individual remote site. That's nice. but why does it try to sync all at the same time to all the remote sites. it kills my WAN, there has got to be a way to fix this m isn't there ?
Restrict users from removing ME MDM App iPhones
