Monitor Netflow through Switch/Hub
Hi ! How can i monitor Netflow through Switch/Hub ? for a Cisco 1700 or other routers which dont support Netflow packets ?? Please tell me a solution fast as i want to implement it. I have already implemented it on the Cisco 2600 router and the results are fantastic. This Netflow product is indeed a superb product.
Upgrading to SP2
Just downloaded SP2 for this great product but on runnning updatemanager.bat I came across this error: "Please set the JAVA_HOME parameter in" updatemanager.bat So i opened this file and checked the location it's looking for: C:\j2sdk1.4.2.03 but I have no folder there under this name. I did install this product on the E drive of my server so thought I'd check there. Nothing there either. So I looked into the actual installation directory of ServiceDesk and came across this one: E:\AdventNet\ME\ServiceDesk\jre\bin

In Demo-Version I'm using the scan function for Windows Domain Scan. Every time I get the following error message: //ARBEITSGRUPPE/SRVDEMO : No response received from workstation. Probably the workstation might be switched off or does not exist.
SLA
Please can anyone help me to solve my confusion between "Priority based SLA" and "User based SLA" If i define to different SLA which overcomes whom like if a user is placed in the rule of Normal priority and resolution is set to 1 hr and if the same user is placed in high priority with 15 min resolution time, what will happen? If the question is not to your understanding then please make me understand in simpler terms. Please!!!
DNS Resolution
For some reason the Ops Manager interface will not resolve hostnames when I select that option. DNS is setup and running and I can resolve these hosts on any other external DNS, and the DNS server is also running on the same machine...any ideas?
Workstation association
I manage a network in a school and the the workstations are used by many pupils. For example all the pupils use the PCs in the IT lab, there is at leaset 2 PCs in each class used by the whole class. What this means is that no one PC is accociated to any 1 pupil. How can a pupil or teacher report a problem and choose a workstation ID as it seems that a PC needs to be associated to a user before it can be chose from the pull down menu on the request form.

Inventory, Assets and Workstations
As mentionend in my other posts, I am currently evaluating ServiceDesk as a tool for our organization. In working through the inventory, workstations and assets, I have several questions/concerns. 1) Compared to many of the other tools I have looked at, Servicedesk is one of the few that handles non-workstation assets. Hi, I have been experimenting with the XML files a bit yesterday and now i discover that the dashboard section on the home-page is empty. Only the header (Text dashboard on a blue background) is shown. Which file could i have corrupted that will cause this?
Problem loading traps from MIBS
Hi We are having trouble in loading trap processors fra MIBS. On a test installation (Build 5510) on a Windows 2003 SP1 server this works fine - allthough you only can do this, when you are logged in as Admin - with any other user the option "load traps processors from MIB" is not displayed. On our main Opmanager server (Windows 2000 Server with SP4), you can see the list with MIBS, but when you select one to see the traps in the MIB, nothing happens. The MIB, we are trying to use, is IBM-SERVERAID.
Data table questions
I am running some ad hoc queries through an ODBC connection to the OpManagerDB but am having difficulty understanding the data that is being captured in a few of the tables. The Performance Database Schema developer guide I found on your site does not address these questions. 1) Is there a lookup table for the Val captured in the statsdata% table? Looking at one device for today, the Val during the poll time changes from 8 to 126 to 207 to 152, etc. Which value indicates the device is up vs. down?

Unable to delete Resource Monitors
Attempts to delete a resource monitor after assigning to a server report "graph deleted successfully" but the item still shows up in the resource monitor section.
Database in another machine

Importing from a database possible?
'Lo all. I hope I can explain this properly. I was wondering if it's possible to populate OpManager from a database instead of the discovery feature (or in addition to). We have all of the devices we want to monitor in a local database on one of our servers with all the information we need, IP address, serial#, location, etc etc. Is there a way to get that information (from an MSAccess table) into OpManager ? When working with a requestor, it is helpful to be able to see all of the requests or issues the requestor has reported in the past.

I have a question with regards the Contracts section of ServiceDesk. I've created a number of contracts and a couple of them are due up within the next 30 days. The system has alerted me to this (as it should) but I was wondering as I am going to extend the contract, do I need to create a new one or simply extend the current one and update it's details? Not sure how the section should actually work. Thanx for any advice.
Active Directory duplication

This is what I'm trying to do: 1) Get the Requesters into the system using the "Import from Active Directory". 2) It works! Now, a few days later, I want to "Import from Active Directory" again - this is to retrieve new users since the first time. Different Values (Total and detailde reports)
Thats the case: In the "Top Application IN Report" we got total traffic for each application. For example 340MB for Http. If we double-click "http", we got a http top conversation tab with many collumns. One of these columns is "traffic" wich i supose to be the total traffic for http, 340MB, but its not. In this case traffic is showed as 54MB. Can you explain, what "54MB" traffic means? Tks, Robert
Soldier in Iraq needs help setting up a network
I am a soldier in Iraq with some networking knowledge. We have just installed a new internet satellite. We have a slight problem with keeping everyone connected, some will be able to get one while others are not. We have a 24 port unmanaged switch by Trendnet, satellite bandwidth that is supposed to support up to 29 people. We only have 19 people on at a given time. We suspect spyware on some computers eating up all the bandwidth and not allowing others to be able to connect. We are semi newbies

unable to start opmanager server after upgrading to sp1
hi, for your information, i just apply the sp1 patch on win xp with promising specs. it works well before and just recently, it fails to start the opmanager server properly. the popup applet shows that the configuration complete yet it just seems hanged. there was no web browser login screen come out as well.. i tried to stop and restart the opmanager service for several time but the same probem still occur. help me, thanks in advance for your prompt respond. regards, Husain DBC

Network Rediscovery how does it work?
Hi All, I'm just looking at the OpManager 5.5 product and am quite impressed so far. I have downloaded the 10 device free version, added a server, a router, 2 different brand switches and like what I have seen so far. One setting that concerns me is the rediscovery option. It seems that the maximum the rediscovery can be set for is 15 days. We have two websites which OpManager is frequently seeing as "host unavailable", however try as we might, when we check the website, as soon as opmanager sees it as down, we find: a) the website is available b) OpManager is sending us a clear notification Increasing the threshold setting has not seemed to alleviate the notifications. I think we are at the point, that I need OpManager to check "twice" before determining the site is down. We have a failover device which checks the website every 3 seconds
Opmanager will not start - error on web page
After a plain 'vanilla' restart of the server, Opmanager will not run either the client or the web client - service seems to be running. The web client reports the following error - ''Error in downloading client files from BE'' - any suggestions ?? The ordinary client behaves as though the server is not running - both when running locally on the server and as a remote client.
Unable to create trap processor for Netscreen MIB
Hello all, I've downloaded the netscreen MIB posted somewhere in this forum and was able to load it using the MIB Browser. I've loaded the NS-SMI followed by the NS-TRAPS and all were ok up to this point. When I create a new SNMP trap processor and select Load from MIB, I get this error. IMPORTS failed: Could not open file C:/Program Files/AdventNet/ME/OpManager/./mibs/NETSCREEN-SMI The required MIB is already loaded, but I see a /./ separator between OpManager/./mibs Why is it there? OpManager doesn't allow monitoring router ports
We use a Cisco 3550 24 FX with 2 VLAN's defined as a router, OpManager discovers it as a router (correct) and shows only the VLANS. Now I want to monitor the 24 individual (switched) ports which belong to VLAN2, but I can't add the device to the switch category because it already exists (as a router). How to solve this?
