Monitoring the server OpManager is installed on
There are probably some view about where this product should or should not be installed. I have installed on two domain controllers. All works find except the domain controller that OpManager is installed on does not respond to WMI requests so all the dials are zero. It is the same on both DC's. The DC the OpManager is installed on cannot be monitoring but the other DC can be monitored. I.e. DC A cannot monitor DC A but can monitor DC B. DC B cannot monitor DC B but can monitor DC A. Is there anyway
SNMP Trap Receiving Issue
I had OpMgr working just fine for weeks. I installed OpUtils and OpMgr MSP central on the same PC to review these products for a while. I then removed OpUtils and MSP from the PC now OpMgr is not receiving any snmp traps from my network devices. I see the traps on the network with my sniffer software so I know they are getting to the OpMgr PC...they do not even show up in the Unsolicited alarms etc. Is there a configuration issue. I even reinstalled Opmgr and still the same issue
Question Regarding MSSQL Monitor Add-on
To do the SQL monitoring, does the account have to be a SQL Server admin account? Or does it just have to be an admin on the box that the SQL Server resides on (local admin privileges sufficient?)? Thank you!
MSP Various problems
Hi There. We constantly have an issue with one of our routers, as you can see by the attached screen shot the routers internal IP address in the example is 192.168.254.254 but OpManager has incorrectly changed its IP to 208.69.32.130 all on its own. If I manually click on edit and put the correct IP in again, it is ok for a while, but then if it doesn't respond a few times sometimes it will just change IP back to the 208. address, which is a opendns IP. Any idea why this is happening? and how do
MSP - java.exe and cpu usage
I have 1 probe that is giving us a fit. Java.exe jumps up and stays at about 99% cpu usage after a few hours of being active. I either have to end task or restart the computer. This is the only probe that I have seen this occur. Anyone have ideas/suggestions? Thanks

Custom Monitors in Opmanager 7 How to?
Hi all, I would like to know how exactly to create custom monitors within Opmanager 7. The only way I could figure out was through the device template and then adding a monitor to that template. This doesn't give me much flexibility I think. Example, Our devices are discovered and automatically recognized as a windows 2003 system, so the device will be added by using the windows 2003 template. We have 25 servers that are attached to this template, some are running on physical hardware and some are
OpManager 7 - Unable to Scan Networks
Recently upgraded to OpManager 7. Installed on new server, could not import old data - no issue there as this is a small installation. Found that server would not scan networks in either CIDR or network scan modes. CIDR returns an error and hangs, Network Scan just hangs. Have followed instructions to update conf file to no avail. Any ideas, similar experiences?
No Availability Monitoring
Following a dB restore undertaken under the supervision of AdventNet support staff our OpManager 7 has returned to functionaility beautifully, except, we now notice that the availability graphs are missing on all screens. For example on the Home screen the top right graph shows as a red cross and the underlying picture property states - http://<server>/servlet/OpManagerDisplayChart?filename=NODATA This happens on all screens and reports relating to availability, and the Today's Availability pie chart
Active Directory Monitor
I am an independent consultant that uses and recommends OpManager to my clients. I am currently using the free version to monitor and manage my home network. 2 AD boxes, 1 NT, firewall, router, and switch. I demonstrate OPManager via VPN to my clients. I recently installed V7 and set one of my servers up to be managed using the Active Directory monitors. The 30 day period expired and now I can't get that server to be managed in the "Servers" group. why I recieve wrong OID when I define a custom monitor
help: I define a custom monitor, the snmpOid is .1.3.6.1.4.1.188.0.0.3 but I find openmanager send oid .1.3.6.1.4.1.188.0.0.3.0 to my application. not the oid .1.3.6.1.4.1.188.0.0.3 I am confused, thanks!

Is there still an add-on for OpManager to do MSSQL monitoring? I can't find it on the website but it is mentioned on the OpManager page. If it is available can I get a trial version to try?
OpManager 7 - Problems Adding Servers
I recently installed OpManager 7 (we were using version 6) and I'm having problems adding servers. All servers were setup under OpManager 6 using SNMP, but now only about half of them were added to version 7 successfully. I checked the SNMP settings dozens of times, but they are all correct (as I said they were working on version 6). I can't use Windows authentication either, that doesn't appear to do a thing. Screen layout size of graphs
I am a serial poster today. I installed OpManager on two servers. The size of the graphs is different is different on each. One looks better as the graphs fill the screen. In the other the graphs look small and I would like them all to be larger. Not sure how this is controlled.

OpManager 7.0 and HP-UX B.11.23 U ia64
Hi, we are in an evaluating phase of OpManager 7 and want to monitor our 5 HP-UX Servers. With the standard snmp service from HP-UX it is only possible to monitor the network interfaces. When I use the CLI monitors the OpManager always has a time out. The username and password is correct. It is not possible to install or compile the snmp service from scratch! Log File Monitoring
Hello, We are evaluating your product and does it have the ability to monitor a plain text log file for a string pattern? For example, we have an application that writes its output to a text file (not the NT event log). There is no way to get it to write to the event log, it only writes to its own logs directory. We would want to be notified if for example a message appeared in the log file that said: 07/30 11:13:43.12 HSTMCCCE sqlagt:upinde 3032 ERROR Is your opmanager capable of this monitoring?
Opmanager 7, delete custom monitor
How can I delete a custom created monitor. Currently I'm trying to create a custom template for Bluecoat appliances, but when I load the mibs from Bluecoat, and I want to select the SNMP OID to query for example CPU usage, I can not manually type the sub value I want to get. CPU Utilization Report
Hi, I run the top 10 server by CPU utilization report in Opmanager 6 and it shows me 4 CPU from the same server. The server have 2 processors and i believe each processor has dual core cpu. But how to show the server CPU utilization report by only 1 CPU? Same as the CPU usage in Windows XP? Thanks.
Device Template - Apply does not work
Hi, I'm running OpManager 7 on windows 2003 r2 sp2. the first time I've modified the device template for windows 2003 and then applied it to my servers group, it worked. Now I've made some changes removing snmp monitors and leaving just the wmi but even if the applying procedure show "successfull" no servers are modified. Every server still have the snmp monitors listed. How can I troubleshoot this? thank you,
Some OpManager 7 problems
Hi all, Just tried to run OpManager 7 and had some problems: When I try and get OpManager to scan our router subnets, it defaults to a 255.255.255.0 netmask, ignoring the 255.255.0.0 netmask I have selected. CIDR failed totally. The 1800 Series Cisco routers weren't listed in the device tables, so I got the OID from Cisco and added it. It still doesn't detect them though. Also, after I want to change the devices from the default desktop type to the router type, it hangs very frequently and refuses
Two Questions: Templates & Devices
I have two questions. I have looked everywhere, and it's probably a very simple answer to both, but I'm just not seeing it. 1. How do you remove a template from a device so that you have just a blank slate to start monitoring the device? 2. How do you remove a device in general? Hi In addition to my other post regarding FreeDiskSpace issues, I have another one to throw out to the floor as opManager doesn't seem to be generating alarms from traps received: - I have configured all servers to send traps to the IP address of my opManager server - I have imported traps from all the HP MIBS available - I pull out a redundant PSU from a server and Wireshark sees the SNMP trap coming from that server about a second after the PSU is removed - I have verified that opManager is listening

Cisco Interfaces - Trial version
Hello, I am using the trial version of OpUtils. Under the Cisco Tools options I am viewing the Interfaces option. While viewing the descriptions of the ports only the port descriptions for the SUP module display data on the percentage meters (Input Utilization & Output Utilization). All of the other ports (GE & TENG) do not show any performance on the percentage meters. Is there a setting I am missing? Thanks! Mike

Multihomed server - can OpManager monitor both cards?
Hey - I've got a couple Windows servers that have two NICs (each with static IPs obviously) and I'm wondering how OpManager handles that? Added the server in with an IP address on card one. Then went to device discovery and chose the IP address bound to the 2nd NIC on the server. OpManager says the device was added successfully, but then that second IP doesn't show up anywhere. Does SNMP report back to OpManager summarizing both cards? Thanks!
Free Disk Space Alerts - False Positives
Hi I'm getting a lot of 'FreeDiskSpacein GB' alerts - I set the threshold at 10GB and all the servers I'm receiving the alerts from have more than 50GB free on all drives. These servers are SAN attached via StorNext clients. The SAN drives are presented to the server as local drives by the StorNext client. I found a forum message that said these issues can arise when using mapped network drives/shares - will this be a similar issue? The SAN attached drives all have more than 17TB free if it makes

SNMP Table: Getting instance
Hi! I have a problem with getting an instance of a snmp-table. I�m using the NT Performance MIB for getting the free disk space in % (.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.5.1.3). But I only want to get the last row-value of this column (total-value). It has on all my NT machines the same OID (.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.5.1.3.13.95.84.111.116.97.108.58.95.84.111.116.97.108). When I add a monitor with this special ID I get no datas and when I add the OID of the column I get all datas, including this. Is there
total transfer
In OpManager 7 I'm looking for a way to know the total traffic transferred per month. I only see the graphic per month/week/day with peaks and megas transfered per hour, but not a report with the total of GB transfered per month(or any period of time) of the device. Is there a way to do it? Omar

Ability to Customize Report Graphs.
When generating a disk space report graph it shows the amount of disk space as a bar filled with a certain amount and either green, yellow, or red, depending on the percentage of the disk full. It would be nice if it was customizable at what point these disks individually turned green, yellow, red. For example, it might be fine to fill a 10 TB disk up 95%, but not a 10 GB disc. Also, perhaps the disc is 90% full (say a 20 GB disc with only 2 GB remaining) but its a static disc - no changes are made
