Not receiving snmp traps - weirdness going on

Hi

In addition to my other post regarding FreeDiskSpace issues, I have another one to throw out to the floor as opManager doesn't seem to be generating alarms from traps received:

- I have configured all servers to send traps to the IP address of my opManager server

- I have imported traps from all the HP MIBS available

- I pull out a redundant PSU from a server and Wireshark sees the SNMP trap coming from that server about a second after the PSU is removed

- I have verified that opManager is listening on port 162 using tcpview.exe and it says that: E:\Program Files\AdventNet\ME\OpManager\jre\bin\java.exe is listening on 'snmptrap'

The weird part(s):

- There have been 10,000 unsolicited traps received from my approx 120 servers within 8 hours - OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.2 which appears to be an Authentication Failure not too worried about these right now but it does show that something is being received.. (Ive disabled the trap processor for these so they dont appear as alarms)

- The trap generated by pulling out the PSU doesnt end up in alarms, and doesnt end up in Unsolicited Traps

- If I change the snmp port under 'SNMP Parameters' to say, 55555, I'd expect tcpview.exe to report the same executable as above to be listening on this - but it doesn't change from 'snmptrap' - I restarted the service and also the server itself to make sure - which makes me think something is rather wrong!

Anyone have any ideas?

Much appreciated, James
