The installation directory is /opt/AdventNet/ME/OpManager While running ./StartManagerServer.sh It started running all the process and when it tried to check the webserver, it was throwing error message as follows. I am monitoring serveral URLs using server based URL monitors, a notification profile is connected to alert when they are down and also when they are up again. When the URL goes down I get one email message... fine, but when the URL comes up again I receive 5 "The URL is up" messages. I have repeated the test by using different servers and creating a new notification profile, but have the same results each time.
Opmanager doesn't start....
Hi, I installed OPManager 5.6 on Windows 2003 Standard Server. After installation finishes, OPManager starts and work properly. But; if I shut down Opmanager or reboot the machine, it never starts again.... I tried to run Opmanager from the command line (with loglevel=INFO parameter in wrapper.conf file) and saw that there was a problem about mysql. But mysql_nt process was working and I could connect to mysql server and made some database operations. How can i correct this? Please help me.... Ozguc.
Quick config wizard question
Here's the situation and question. I have three servers and I want to monitor the RX traffic on all three, for example. I can create the monitor and add it to the servers group but nowhere during the process does it "bind" to the NIC or ask which NIC I want to use in a multi-homed box. So, the test monitor function fails. It also doesn't give me the chance to change the monitoring frequency during the wizard so I'm stuck with the default. What if I don't want that default value? So if I had 300 servers,
Device Template
One of my complaints about your product is that its a lot of work to setup a new device. I'd like to see a new device template. For instance, when I add a windows server, I need to the do the following: 1. Add Device. 2. Set the windows password. 3. Add Notification Profiles to the device. 4. Add the Event Log service monitor. 5. Add Event Log Rules to this device. 6. Add Vendor specific monitors. It would be nice to have a template that I could select that adds this stuff for me. Adding in a New Device
Hi, Just wondering. Just installed OpManager and added in 4 services using the Admin-Device options. 1 server ended up in the server view, 3 services ended up in the workstation view. I seemt to be missing something here. What determines the view that the device ends up in? and once added into the incorrect view I could find nothing on moving the device, or deleting it and adding it in again. Hello, Very imprest with the product, one problem on current installation though. I'm currently evaluating OpManager 5.6 (Build: 5604) on a workstation (running as a service) monitoring around 10 servers (mix between unix, linux and windows) and some other network devices. Several times during a day I'll receive "Service Down" on almost all my servers and services. I'm using the standard (SNMP?) "Service Monitors" and it works most of the time. Creating Event Log Rules...
What does "Category" mean when you create an Event Log Rule? Is that the same as "Type" in the Alarm report? If you don't fill out a user then does it just filter for all users? David.
Ability to Search Event Log Rules.
It would be great if there was a way to search the Event Log Rules we have created. For example, what if I see that MyServer01 is throwing an EventID 5 regularly, but I want to ignore it. I could create a new rule, but I might be duplicating a rule that I already created but forgot about (b/c at the time only MyServer02 was having this problem). David.

Hi all, I have trouble to use some SSH based (resources) monitors, it works perfectly with telnet, but not with ssh with the same config. Since I remember had a message in opmanager (linux version) about installing by hand ssh factory, I wondering If i need to do that too in Windows version. Thanks
New OpManager MSP (EE) Edition
Have anyone tested the new upcoming (beta) version of OpManager? Now its including a Central Server and Probe installation. I know its not a final release and it contains some problems and bugs, but hopefully reporting will prevent bugs from the next release. Is it possible to assign or attach a profile to a particular threshold notification? I have created different drives on our SAN and want to send "Free disk space" threshold violations to specific people for each drive.

Alarm Escalations Stopped Working!
I tried to set up two Alarm Escalaction rules to send mesages to two email addresses for "Critical" and "Any" events, and only one worked. So, then I tried to put two addresses in the To field "user1@domain.com;user2@domain.com". That didn't work. So, then I tried the two separate rules again with 1 Minute escalation for testing, and none work now. I have tried using the Web UI and the Client, and deleting the rules and recreating them. None of my escalations work. Please help! Thanks! Brian
Question on notifications
I have two systems, A and B, that run a service, SERVICE, that is identical. The way the configuration is set up SERVICE can only run on one system. i.e. if A is running SERVICE, B cannot run it and vice versa. Throughout the day the development moves the from one server to the other. As long as the service is up we are operational. But if the service is not up on any system, we are down. Is there a way to set up a notification that will poll both systems and send out an alert whenever SERVICE is
Opmanage instability
Hi Over the past few months, Opmanager has been getting a bit unstable. Things like * HTTP 500 errors when trying to log in * Login screen presented but cannot log in, browser hangs * Viewing some interfaces or adding new devices hangs browser * Alarms not clearing, resulting in phantom 100% downtime OpManager is managing about 150-200 devices, on a P4-2.4ghz with 512mb ram. Can you please advise on ways to stalblise the product? Thanks David

Is it possible to disable the alarms generated when a desktop is shutdown yet still poll it to get statistics on hardware/software changes? I see the option in monitoring intervals to uncheck the desktop. If I uncheck this, will OpManager continue to monitor the stations for hardware/software changes? Thanks

it seems that OpManager doesnt feel MSSQLAGENT named instances because it doesnt looks like SQLSERVERAGENT but SQLAgent$instancename... ...or... may be I dont understand something ? :(
7 Day graphs showing straight lines on all devices.
Hello, for the past 2 days we have had OpManager reporting the 7 day graphs as straight lines for all monitored devices on OpManager. The 30 Day values and current graphs work fine - just the 7 day ones appear to have got confused. Could somebody shed some light on this please? The lines are either flat or at an angle with no relation to the values obtained during the last 2 days. I have restarted the management server, but no joy. Thanks - Adrian.

Alarm Escalation email address bug
I know this was reported, but the reply said it was just a display problem. When you edit an Alarm Escalation rule, the "To Email Address" field gets populated with the default email address, regardless of what value you previously had it set to. The problem is, if you click Edit and change some other value and then click Save without realizing it, the escalations are going to the wrong address now. Feature Request - Monitor Dependancies -- or condition sets
Problem: When one of our mainframes is IPL'd, it triggers over a dozen monitor alert notifications. Several URL monitors (7 web servers directly impacted), etc The true problem is that the DB2 application is unavailable on the mainframe, while it is being IPL'd. I would like somehow to suspend a collection of notifications IF, the DB2 application is unavailable on the mainframe. Is there a method you have in mind for achieving this? Hello, we have problems to see data under device details for several Cisco Routers. The Routers are recognize correctly, but under device details you can't see informations about cpu utilization, mem utilization, interface statistics ...., We can see the Interfaces but only with n/a. Organize Business View
Is there any way to organize the business view links? For example, if I create the following views: office 1 office 2 office 3 etc... then I create the overall view: US Offices By default, the US Offices link gets create after all of the other views. I want the US Offices to be at the top of the listing when I click on the Maps tab. Can this be done? Thanks.
Problem with custom monitor and OID
Hi, using the MIB-Browser I found this OID: .1.3.6.1.2.1.43.10.2.1.4.1.1 which shows me how many pages my printer printed so far. When I set up a custom monitor to have a graph, OPManager automatically adds a .0 to my OID. So the printer does not respond to this monitor any more. Furthermore, when I use the PrinterMarkerLifeCount, which is shipped with OPManager, it uses the OID .1.3.6.1.2.1.43.10.2.1.4 and an instance of .1.1 which shoul return the right value. Hi, I am new to this product and would appreciate if someone could shed me some light. A question that I have :- Can this product track illegal software activites running on users' PC in my company? For example, I do not want users to play counterstrike and use up the bandwith. Or I do not want users to infect her PC with an email virus after she quietly install a pop3 email on her PC. Monitoring Solaris 5.8 processes
Is anyone monitoring processes on Solaris 5.8? I'm unable to find where to have OpManager check a process by name. There are certain processes running on our solaris boxes that I have to monitor and get alerts if the process has died. Thanks!
Old hostname used in drill-down details
I found that the hostname that OpManager originally finds or names a device is used for detail pages even after you rename the device. This happens on all devices regardless of how many times I rediscover or delete/add them. Take for example a Printer I added that has a hostname of Lxwwekmks2 stored in the printer (random hostname from the factory - Lexmark). I rename the printer to it's proper name, but when I click on an alarm, history, or any detail screen, the device is named Lxwwekmks2 instead
Scalable maps
Hello! I am trying to plan out a network map layout that will allow drill downs to that would be easy to read when displayed on our NOC wall. We have WAN links all over the country and many will be in the same state so the icons are way to big. I have started making 10x10 pixel dot icons to place on the USA map to represent locations in different states but this may also get crowded. My problem is that I need to display the entire map but also be able to drill down to the state level and even city

Notification
Looking at the Notification options in OPM5.6 I cannot see a way to create a profile which sends to more than one user? For instance - we have two child domains in an ad forest with engineers on both sides. I would like to send email notifications to engineers in both these domains. I guess it is possible to duplicate the notification profile and set it up with another email address, but dont think this is a particular sensible way of doing it.
