Is this possible: disable desktop alarms

Is it possible to disable the alarms generated when a desktop is shutdown yet still poll it to get statistics on hardware/software changes?

I see the option in monitoring intervals to uncheck the desktop. If I uncheck this, will OpManager continue to monitor the stations for hardware/software changes?
