Hi, we are in an evaluating phase of OpManager 7 and want to monitor our 5 HP-UX Servers. With the standard snmp service from HP-UX it is only possible to monitor the network interfaces. When I use the CLI monitors the OpManager always has a time out. The username and password is correct. It is not possible to install or compile the snmp service from scratch! Is there a way to get the CPU, Memory and other CLI monitors to work? Best Regards Matthias Poweleit
Log File Monitoring
Hello, We are evaluating your product and does it have the ability to monitor a plain text log file for a string pattern? For example, we have an application that writes its output to a text file (not the NT event log). There is no way to get it to write to the event log, it only writes to its own logs directory. We would want to be notified if for example a message appeared in the log file that said: 07/30 11:13:43.12 HSTMCCCE sqlagt:upinde 3032 ERROR Is your opmanager capable of this monitoring?
Opmanager 7, delete custom monitor
How can I delete a custom created monitor. Currently I'm trying to create a custom template for Bluecoat appliances, but when I load the mibs from Bluecoat, and I want to select the SNMP OID to query for example CPU usage, I can not manually type the sub value I want to get. CPU Utilization Report
Hi, I run the top 10 server by CPU utilization report in Opmanager 6 and it shows me 4 CPU from the same server. The server have 2 processors and i believe each processor has dual core cpu. But how to show the server CPU utilization report by only 1 CPU? Same as the CPU usage in Windows XP? Thanks.
Device Template - Apply does not work
Hi, I'm running OpManager 7 on windows 2003 r2 sp2. the first time I've modified the device template for windows 2003 and then applied it to my servers group, it worked. Now I've made some changes removing snmp monitors and leaving just the wmi but even if the applying procedure show "successfull" no servers are modified. Every server still have the snmp monitors listed. How can I troubleshoot this? thank you,
Some OpManager 7 problems
Hi all, Just tried to run OpManager 7 and had some problems: When I try and get OpManager to scan our router subnets, it defaults to a 255.255.255.0 netmask, ignoring the 255.255.0.0 netmask I have selected. CIDR failed totally. The 1800 Series Cisco routers weren't listed in the device tables, so I got the OID from Cisco and added it. It still doesn't detect them though. Two Questions: Templates & Devices
I have two questions. I have looked everywhere, and it's probably a very simple answer to both, but I'm just not seeing it. 1. How do you remove a template from a device so that you have just a blank slate to start monitoring the device? 2. How do you remove a device in general? For whatever reason, OpManager 7 found a device by both IP address (during initial discovery) and then found it again and added it as a new device by hostname. Not receiving snmp traps - weirdness going on
Hi In addition to my other post regarding FreeDiskSpace issues, I have another one to throw out to the floor as opManager doesn't seem to be generating alarms from traps received: - I have configured all servers to send traps to the IP address of my opManager server - I have imported traps from all the HP MIBS available - I pull out a redundant PSU from a server and Wireshark sees the SNMP trap coming from that server about a second after the PSU is removed - I have verified that opManager is listening

Multihomed server - can OpManager monitor both cards?
Hey - I've got a couple Windows servers that have two NICs (each with static IPs obviously) and I'm wondering how OpManager handles that? Added the server in with an IP address on card one. Then went to device discovery and chose the IP address bound to the 2nd NIC on the server. OpManager says the device was added successfully, but then that second IP doesn't show up anywhere. Does SNMP report back to OpManager summarizing both cards? Thanks!
Free Disk Space Alerts - False Positives
Hi I'm getting a lot of 'FreeDiskSpacein GB' alerts - I set the threshold at 10GB and all the servers I'm receiving the alerts from have more than 50GB free on all drives. These servers are SAN attached via StorNext clients. The SAN drives are presented to the server as local drives by the StorNext client. I found a forum message that said these issues can arise when using mapped network drives/shares - will this be a similar issue? The SAN attached drives all have more than 17TB free if it makes

SNMP Table: Getting instance
Hi! I have a problem with getting an instance of a snmp-table. I�m using the NT Performance MIB for getting the free disk space in % (.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.5.1.3). But I only want to get the last row-value of this column (total-value). It has on all my NT machines the same OID (.1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.1.5.1.3.13.95.84.111.116.97.108.58.95.84.111.116.97.108). When I add a monitor with this special ID I get no datas and when I add the OID of the column I get all datas, including this. Is there
total transfer
In OpManager 7 I'm looking for a way to know the total traffic transferred per month. I only see the graphic per month/week/day with peaks and megas transfered per hour, but not a report with the total of GB transfered per month(or any period of time) of the device. Is there a way to do it? Omar

Ability to Customize Report Graphs.
When generating a disk space report graph it shows the amount of disk space as a bar filled with a certain amount and either green, yellow, or red, depending on the percentage of the disk full. It would be nice if it was customizable at what point these disks individually turned green, yellow, red. For example, it might be fine to fill a 10 TB disk up 95%, but not a 10 GB disc. Also, perhaps the disc is 90% full (say a 20 GB disc with only 2 GB remaining) but its a static disc - no changes are made
Back up and Restore didn't copy over threshold settings
Hi again, We just moved the software to a different system and all the devices migrated over just fine using the back up and restore process, but an automatic report we had, none of the past reports were brought over and neither were all of our threshold settings? Any ideas? Did I do something wrong? we would like to be able to recover from a failed server very quickly by re-installing the software on a new system and using the Backup .data file to restore.
Which Dell temp is OpManager monitoring with default probe?
I apologize for this lengthy question, but this is extremely important: What device temperature is the built in OpManager dell temp probe monitoring? My assumption is whatever Dell's OpenManage is reading. For example: 1) On PowerEdge Server A I look at OpenManage and it is reading the actual CPU temp with a max threshold of 80c. 2) On PowerEdge Server B (different model) I look at Dell OpenManage and it is reporting on the ambient temp of the system board, with a max threshold of 42c. I got an alarm generated in OpManager for one of my system. I have copied the message below. Kindly let me know why is it generated and what does it mean. Device Unreachable
Hi, I am currently using opManager 7 running under Windows 2003 SP2 Standard Edition. When attempting to add out Nokia Firewall to opManager I recieved the message "Device Unreachable". I have tried updating the discovery.filter "ping = true" but that did not resolve the issue. I ran an snmpwalk from the opmanager server to the nokia firewall and I was able to pull the snmp information but I still cannot add the device from Admin --> Add Device.
Not Recieving Notification on Probe Down
We found that the notification Profile "Probe Down" was full of fields which were grayed-out and could not be edited. Although the Email fields were not grayed-out, and could be edited and saved, once a probe would go down, the fields would revert back to their previous values, and the notification would go to the wrong place. We tried creating a duplicate Notification profile, with the same settings but which emailed a different address; when we did this we found that the notifications for the probe
MSP 6004 update

Hi OPmanager support team, I'm impressed with OPManager MSP Edition, with Probe technology. I can discover remote network using probe but drawing topology is my problem. I read Documents of OpManager MSP Edition but I didn't found any thing about draw Customer's Topology automatically. Drawing Customer's Network Topology manually (by map/business view or infrastructure view) is unrealistic, in some case Would you please show me how to do it? Windows 2003 work - Windows 2000 does not? (SNMP)
I've setup OpManager v7 and my 2003 servers are working beautifully. However the Windows 2000 servers are not. OpManager sees them as SNMP enabled devices (blue star), but the monitor tests fail, no stats are gathered, etc. Is there something in Windows 2000 server that has to be done that 2003 doesn't require? *Note: if I turn on WMI then I am able to get info from the 2000 servers. But I want to use only SNMP - should work right? Community names are good, etc. Thanks!
CentOS Linux Server Performance Monitors Wont Work
Hello, I am running OpManager 7, and I am trying to monitor the local server, i.e. the server that is running OpManager. I added the server device, and everything seems to be good except performance monitors wont update. I put in the SSH account information, username, password, prompts, and everything is right. It even grabs the system desc: Linux BELVEDERE 2.6.9-42.0.10.EL... Any ideas what is causing this? Attached is a screen shot.
Get no Data frome the Probe
I can download the Probe and the Registration Zip File on the customer subnet. So i have access to the Central Server over https. I can also install the Probe normally together with the zip file. But i get no Data from this Customer. I found the following Event on the Central Server....
