Which Dell temp is OpManager monitoring with default probe?
I apologize for this lengthy question, but this is extremely important:
What device temperature is the built in OpManager dell temp probe monitoring? My assumption is whatever Dell's OpenManage is reading. For example:
1) On PowerEdge Server A I look at OpenManage and it is reading the actual CPU temp with a max threshold of 80c.
2) On PowerEdge Server B (different model) I look at Dell OpenManage and it is reporting on the ambient temp of the system board, with a max threshold of 42c. Server B isn't reporting directly on the CPU at all.
So obviously if I set a threshold alarm in OpManager of 42c for server A, this would always go off since it is normal for the CPU to reach that temp. And likewise, if my threshold for server B was set to 80c the server would be melted before I realized what happened.
