Free Disk Space Alerts - False Positives

I'm getting a lot of 'FreeDiskSpacein GB' alerts - I set the threshold at 10GB and all the servers I'm receiving the alerts from have more than 50GB free on all drives.
These servers are SAN attached via StorNext clients. The SAN drives are presented to the server as local drives by the StorNext client. I found a forum message that said these issues can arise when using mapped network drives/shares - will this be a similar issue?
The SAN attached drives all have more than 17TB free if it makes any difference? (maybe the monitors only support a finite amount of free space?)
If so, how do I get around it? Can the resource monitor be set to look at specific drives only (ie C: and E:)?
