Re-installing Desktop Central on server
I need to re-install DC to repair some problems. Are there any particular steps I need to take other than just uninstall and reinstall? My main concern is that the re-installed copy will be able to locate all the desktops with agents, so I will not need to push out agent installs again.

Just updated SDP to 8.2 Build 8203, and now its broken the connection between SDP and DC... Desktop Central version 80237 and above is required. Can you use a DFS root for copying files? For example in the settings can you put \\dfsroot\files?

I'm evaluating this product and have hit a bit of a roadblock. First I'll start by saying I do have a support ticket open for this issue but have yet to get a fix/resolution. I have Windows firewall disabled globally on my domain. I am able to successfully push the agent to client computers. When I initiate scan from the DC server I can view the agent on the client machine and the scan begins as expected. Build 80237/80238 ?
I recently updated Service Desk Plus to build 8203 and the integrated chat function indicates in the read me that it requires Desktop Central Build 80238 for this functionality. The chat icon still appears in the tickets, but gives the error that it requires build 80237 to function. In either case, the latest version of Desktop Central that i can find is build 80234 (http://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/service-packs.html) Where can i get the latest build?

New theme (build 80234) is awful
Good day I know it's probably pointless to say this but the new theme which was released with build 80234 is just awful. It looks very bulky and cheap in my opinion. On a more professional note: it does not seem to display properly in Firefox even though the local cache etc. was cleared. Remotely rename computers
ZENworks Configuration Management has the ability to remotely rename computers. This should be a standard feature of any desktop/server management software. With Desktop Central we have to touch every computer that we want to correct the name on which is very inefficient.
keep PC for updates
So except for telling the PC to never sleep by pushing out a GPO is there a way in Desktop Central to wake a PC if it is not awake to be scanned and install updates? I would think this would be great then as soon as it is done it puts the PC back to sleep.

Hello, I was working a few years with ZENworks and are exploring DC right now. What I haven’t found yet is how I would trigger updates from the installed agent on our client computers. I guess my question would be where I can find the documentation for such command line arguments. Especially while testing I am missing things like updatenow / refresh, but getting a full document would be helpful to keep in mind what all is possible. After installing fix 80234 in IE in DC login page there is still message New Hotfix Available
I install new hotfix ver 80234. After installation i restart server with DC. Server is up with DC and work fine. When i log in DC i see that i am in version 80234. But pain in my eye is that message in IE when i try to log in from workstations New hot fix is Available. I clean IE cach and temp files but message is still here. Any idea? DesktopCentral and MySQL integration
Hello, I downloaded the trial version of DesktopCentral 8 in order to try it as a management & support solution in our company. I found it very good, but there is one problem that I can not solve - use MySQL database instead of the default Postgres. My plan is to install the database at the same machine as the DC server. I installed MySQL on the test machine and opened a new database named 'desktopcentral'. I used the batch script named ChangeDbServer to change the DB but when I press test it said

Hi, I'm actually cleaning DesktopCentral (deleting useless/temp files, we are running out of disk space). I found a ManageEngine post that explain which folders/files are delete-able here : http://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/removing-unwanted-files-from-dc-how-to.html It works perfectly but I found a "Patch" folder which appears to have something like backups of .ppm and uncompressed .ppm (look attached screenshot). Is this folder cleanable or we should keep it like it is?

Required firewall ports
Hello, I am attempting to bring into management a certain subnet in our office so that we can start scanning and re-mediating servers. This subnet is behind and internal firewall managed by our security team. I need to provide them a list of ports which need to be open, both ways, between the subnet the Desktop Central server is on and the subnet needing to be managed. Deploying Software automatically via Group
Hi there, Hoping for a bit of advice here; We're wanting to setup Desktop Central to Automatically push software (for example Office) to user's machines, as soon as the PC is added to the group. Does anyone have any idea how to do? Without needing to hit deploy everytime we add a machine (Thus trying to install over machines which may already have it!) Any assistance would be great. Dave
License Management configuration disappearing
I am working through the process of configuring the License Management section of DC8 (Inventory > Manage Licenses). I have successfully set up a number of software groups and then configured licences using those groups. My problem is that when I edit any of my software groups by adding a new software version and marking it as the 'major version', any licenses that were previously associated with that group disappear. The only fix seems to be creating a new license from scratch and re-configure everything.

We need to send remote users the link to install the Desktop Central agent. However we'd like to send them the installation file and have it install silently, without prompting them to click next. Is this possible with the agent?
Configure Alerts
I would like to modify the alerts DC8 sends when a computer has not been in contact for more than 60 days. When I go to Admin > Scope of Management > Configure, change the subject line and click 'save' I am presented with a window that says 'Alert: Successfully Updated'. However, when I then go back into that same Alert, the changes I have made to the subject line are no longer there. Is this a bug?

Hi Team, we recently had a vulnerability scan ran and they found that several of our servers had issues that mentioned Apache. Leftover Configuration and DB Restore Issues
Hi there, have been having some issues with db restores, migration etc for the last week so have reinstalled on a new 2008 R2 machine but now i've got some further issues. The original desktopcentral server "died", as in the service was unable to start up after a database move to MSSQL Express. Due to this, i wasn't able to uninstall the agents off all the clients.
