Hi there, have been having some issues with db restores, migration etc for the last week so have reinstalled on a new 2008 R2 machine but now i've got some further issues.
The original desktopcentral server "died", as in the service was unable to start up after a database move to MSSQL Express. Due to this, i wasn't able to uninstall the agents off all the clients. Not much of a problem, except on one PC i'd set up a test alert message to pop up on logon.
As we didn't have a hell of a lot of configurations, it didn't matter i'd have to build up a new server from scratch, so did that. After starting up the new desktopcentral server it connected with the existing agents fine, but i uninstalled all and put out new agents anyway. Unfortunately, the configuration from the original server for the test alert message is still popping up on the PC. The new server obviously shows no existing configurations as it's a new db, so i can't remove the configuration that way.
I do have a backup of the original MySQL database from the old server before it died, so if the configurations are retrievable from the zip file, that might be possible? However, i'm at a loss as to how to do that.
I've tried running the restoredb.bat file but it doesn't work. The file does nothing when it's run on it's own but if i drag it into a CMD prompt and run it, i get a message about ".\setCommonEnv.bat not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file" I also had similar messages regarding migrating to a MSSQL instance from MySQL on the old "dead" machine.
So to summarise:
How do i get rid of the existing test message from the old configuration, and how do i perform a restore of the db for future reference?
I'd actually like to get the new server's db on to MSSQL once fixed, and i expect i'll have further questions with regards to that when it comes to it.
Regards,
Ash.
