Google Chrome silent uninstall
Dear community, Google Chrome is defined as prohibited software in our environment. For the last couple of days i've tried to get a working uninstall command to get Chrome version 24.0.1312.57 auto-uninstalled without success. Neither the Pre-fill uninstall command nor a self specified uninstall command is working. Can someone please provide me with a setting to get this working? Thanks in advance, Dirk

Desktop Central Remote Control not Launching Window while using ActiveX Option
I'm experiencing an issue after the last update with Remote Control where I can connect to a client using the ActiveX option however my screen never changes to view the remote clients screen. My screen never "turns blue" and then I can see the clients screen. If I use Java it works. Anyone else experiencing this? I have tried in both IE8 and Firefox. I have also set all the security options in both browsers to the appropriate settings. Thanks

How to create a valid digital signature on the Desktop Central .msi agent install file?
When downloading the Desktop Central .msi agent installation file, windows prompts because it has an invalid digital signature. Is there a way to sign this file so it's valid and can be downloaded/installed without having to "convince" Windows or bypass windows security? I want to make it as easy as possible for a user to click a url and initiate a "silent" agent installation.
Trying to start MySQL server failed
Hi, I'm trying to get Desktop Central Service to start. After a couple of minutes I get a popup from the tray icon telling me "Desktop Central has stopped". In the "serverout0" log I can see the "Trying to start MySQL server failed". What steps will I need to do to fix this issue? Thanks

Admin Account
Is there a way for me to do one of the following? 1. Rename the admin account to something besides the default? 2. Disable the admin account and add a Active Directory user as the primary admin (we only have purchased 1 user license) 3. Remove the credentials from auto-populating into the web interface when it is loaded. We have some security concerns since our web console will need to be Internet facing, and would prefer that we are not publishing the default admin user account to the world.
Ability to save configurations / packages into sub containers / folders in DC
We have over 150 approved applications. These are further divided into winXP, Win7, 32bit and 64bit classifications. It would be great if we could create subfolders / containers so we can group similair packages and configurations, rather then having to search the entire list of applications. Is this possible for future releases?

I have created several software groups for software such as a Desktop Central Agent group containing several versions of the agent software. When viewing the group on Inventory -> Software view though a software version is still displayed although several versions of the software are included in that group. Managing Mobile Computers
What is the best practice for managing laptops of Road Warriors, or those people that are occasionally in the LAN, but more frequently are traveling to various client sites and connected only via internet. We have a server that is setup in the DMZ, but should I only install a remote agent, or does DC attempt to connect internally first, and then if that fails, connect to the public facing server? Desktop Central single sign on
Is there an effort to integrate Single Sign-On into Desktop Central? I purchased licenses for my team to use this tool for desktop management. Having to log in manually to a tool that is used regularly is inefficient, especially when other ManageEngine products have this capability. Iam moving DC from a W7 32bit too a WS2008 Standard and i have big problem to get the proxy to work. I put everything in the same way as i had before host: ... port 8080 username.... password... The answare is:Proxy Authentication Failed,Specify a valid username and password Then i change to the FTP port on server port 21 The answare is: HTTP Proxy Settings Updated Successfully! Sofware Inventory - SQL2005
Back in August I logged a call (ref 13084604) about the software inventory function misreporting. Desktop Engine wasnt able to differentiate between the free SQL2005 Desktop Edition and the full SQL2005 product. I was told it would be able to within a couple of months but heard nothing back and just that its still misreporting. Has there been any progress on this issue? Thanks

Active Directory Settings
Hi there, I am trying to find the settings where Desktop Central comunicates with Active Directory in order to pull up lists for users and groups. I went to make a custom group of users, and noticed that the list of users that it shows from Active Directory versus what we actually have currently, is way out of date - meaning somewhere along the line a setting has become invalidated (I'm thinking password expired), but I have no idea where to make these adjustments. Tray icon issue
I have noticed that on Windows XP and Server 2003 the screen will occasionally flash. This goes away when the icon is removed I believe this is also causing a performance issue on multiple devices. Is there something I should know?
Disconnected Network
We have a segregated lan that is not allowed to connect to the internet. LAN #1 is connected to the internet LAN #2 is disconnected from the internet. Is there a way for Desktop Central to work on a disconnected network? Would there be a way perhaps to use an external harddrive to copy the patch database and windows updates from LAN #1 to LAN #2 or some similar process? Thank you.

Schedule agent upgrade
We have a subset of computers that are protected by DeepFreeze. We have worked out a monthly schedule with the I.T. manager to automatically thaw these machines so that Desktop Central has an opportunity to scan and deploy updates. This works very well. However, the problem we have is that whenever we upgrade Desktop Central itself, it then requires the remote agents to also be upgraded. Hello, I am attempting to install hotfix 8_0_SP-1_14.ppm onto a build:8039. My Desktop Central Server is running on a Win 2008 server. I have done about five if these HotFix installations and they are easy to install. Shutdown Desktop Central service > Run UpdateManager.bat > Select the .ppm file and the install wizard completes the job. DC isn't syncing with SD+
Using DC feature to search Warranty Expire date at manufacturer (HP) site, work well. The problem I'm having is, DC isn't syncing that information with SD+. DC recognized SD+ integration and viceversa!! (checked already) SD+: 8.1.0 Build 8114 DC: 8.0.0 Build 80101 Is Expire date a valid synching information?
Problem with swedish special characters åäö
Hi, We are running SDplus for about 6months now. We are now trying Desktopcentral. But when we syncronize all customers to desktopcentral from sdplus all the swedish characters are strange characters. is this normal? must i rename them all in sdplus first? i have also tried to rename them manually in desktopcentral but when i save the characters revert to looking strange. Custom Script in DC as User, but By Machine
So we have a VBS script we want to run on our computers and it needs to run under the users context. Normally we would do a Custom Script under the User config, however, I don't want the determination to be the USER that instigates the run, but the computer. The script suceeds when I run under User config cust script, but fails when done as a Computer config, my guess is that it runs there as the system account. Unfortunately there's no way under User custom script to select by Computer.
Your Request could not be sent.
We have some clients that are able to send a request to DC from the system tray icon by right-clicking the icon and selecting Send Request to Help Desk. On other clients when this procedure is attempted the EU receives a pop-up box that says Your Request could not be sent. What is the problem?

We were experiencing this issue on many, but curiously not all, of our Windows systems both Windows 7 and XP. Additional indications: When CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed in an attempt to bring up the Task Manager so Resource Monitor could be started, following a lenghty delay, an error message would pop up stating "Failure to display security and shut down options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."
