Migrating from one SQL server to another
I couldn't find information on how to migrate from one MSSQL server to another. I was tasked with moving the server along with the MESD server to a new host and MSSQL server. Service Won't Start after 80279 Update
I updated our Desktop Central installation to 80279 and now the service won't start. The event viewer shows an error that says: The ManageEngine Desktop Central service terminated with service-specific error %%-1 I'm also seeing MySQL startup events and shutdown events that correspond with the service start and stop.
Remote office DS License not compatable error
Hi team We are having an issue where the SOM Remote Office shows there is an "Incompatible License for Distribution Server ". We are seeing various inconsitancies in the application at our remote sites, including, remote hosts not installing client when pushed (but will if admin logs into host and deploys), software not deploying to remote site. DTC Agent
Hello All, I am new to Desktop Central and have taken over administrating it from a former employee. I have updated DTC to 80269 but I have noticed that the agent has not updated on the clients. Does the client automatically update or do I need to deploy the newer version to each client? I noticed that the previous admin had downloaded the agent for each site and put it in a common share. Then he created a GPO for each site to deploy the agent. Should I update the MSI for each site? Thanks, Liam
Can Desktop Central agent send inventory at login?
We are just getting our system set up, and I can't seem to find a way to get the agent to send an inventory when the user logs in. I can schedule an inventory, but all of our other tools, including Asset Explorer, send an inventory each time the user logs in if there is a change in the data. I cannot find any way to accomplish this with the Desktop Central client. Thanks! Dave

Password Protect desktop central Agent uninstall
Hi, Is there an option for the desktop central agent to protect uninstall by providing password even if running the vbs script that uninstalls the agent, sometimes some local administrators are using the uninstall script to uninstall the agent and this is an unacceptable way.
windows 8 crashing
We have a windows 8 machine which frequently crashes beyond repair. Only a fresh install is possible. Once the system is rebuilt and put on the network, the DTcentral client gets installed via GPO. It crashes again. There is a error at event viewer as Unable to rotate the log files in Desktop Central Secure USB Collection. Anyone come across this ?

Better alerting.
I would like to better monitor my network with Desktop Central. I have searched today and I am unable to find how I can get desktop central to send me an alert if a computer has been off-line more than a specified time. I did see the Power Management stuff but cannot get it to report what I am needing. Also I noticed that I am getting alerts such as when the Distribution has stopped but it will not send an alert to me or I can not customize it the way I need. If I am overlooking any of this please

Can't see version #'s of grouped software in Inventory
I need to group my Nitro Pro software into a group so that I can manage the license reporting feature. However, when I search for Nitro Pro installations in Inventory, it just returns 'Nitro Pro Group' and says 14 installation. When I drill down, it lists what 14 machines have it, but not the version number on each machine. 'Version' is not avail in the column selector either. I need to determine which users are not on the latest version. Seems like an oversight to me.
Inventory Process never finishes
Since patch level 80251 and after 80260 patch for Desktop Central, I am not able to get the inventory summary to finish. the only way to stop this is to restart the Desktop Central Service on the server. I've stopped all scheduled Inventory Scans and it is still doing the same thing. Is anyone else having this issue and is there a fix?

Is there a way to check a desktop compliance?
We currently use Altiris and we have built a baseline for our machines. For example, all machines need to have a shortcut on the desktop to an internal web server. The agent runs a compliance check every hour and it checks that the icon is there. I see how to install the icon with Desktop Central, but if I delete the icon, it never comes back. It looks like the configuration tasks are a one time only thing and cannot do routine compliance checks. Am I missing something?

Agent - Lots of black boxes flashing on screen

How to fully extend text in Desktop Central?
In the text columns that show programs in list form, is there any way to fully extend the text to show the entire program name in the column? I know you can scroll over it and it will bring up a bubble with the full name, but I was curious if you could extend it further than 20 letters or whatever it decides to stop at. Much appreciated.
Every inventory scan fails since Build No:80251
Hi DesktopCentral-Team, this weekend we implemented the 80251 hotfix. Everything seems ok, the agents have updated correctly. But since then, 900 of 950 inventory scans are failing at various clients: xp, win7, 2003, 2008 etc. We tried to uninstall and re-install the client, what worked perfectly. But with no impovement at inventory scanning. Patch scanning works well, so does software deployment. What additional information can be helpful? Or are there already any ideas? Thank you very much! Huge Log FIles - usbconfig_user.log
I am completely new to Desktop Central and have run into an issue. 3 of my workstations have almost run out of space on their hard disks due to an extremely huge logfile (usbconfig_user.log, 118GB, 283GB and 107GB). The rest of the desktops have very small log files. What has caused these three to have such huge logs and how do I delete/fix them?

Restrict AD scan to 1 OU
Will there be an update to Desktop Central that allows you to restrict the data collected for AD, to a specific OU? We have multiple companies on different OUs and when I run the AD scan, it collects 7000 AD accounts instead of our 500. This is something that I have been looking for in the last few years.
Agent Uninstall
Hi, I configured agent in desktopcentral server to not allow uninstall, if you go to add/programs you cannot uninstall but if you use a program uninstaller like ccleaner it could be uninstalled easily, even if you use msconfig you can also disable the service from starting up. Could this be solved ? Thanks
Desktop Central agent in startup folder
This may have already been asked, but I cant find anything about it. I noticed when the Desktop Central agent is installed on the client desktops, the agent shortcut is in the AllUsers startup folder. This will not work in my environment as there are a lot of users who have the ability to delete this from the folder. I also noticed that there is an agent service as well. What does this do if the agent is also a shortcut in the startup folder?
Deploy agent via GPO

Clean up Distribution Servers
Is there a task or method to automatically clean up distribution servers deployment repository? We have multiple distribution servers setup (one for each branch), and for some odd reason a few of them have their repositories at like 16GB+ in size. There should be some sort of automated cleanup when a task is removed from a server, or if a patch update is no longer required. Right now I'm not sure how I'm going to clean this up. Dear Support, Which build of DTC do I need to install as a clean new build on a new server to be able to use MSSQL as the back end? Desktop Central on Windows Server 2012
On Windows 2012, since there is no start menu, there is no way to access the start menu shortcuts to the batch files (like Start/Stop Desktop Central) if I've hidden the notification tray icon. I just found this out when attempting to install an update. I know I could stop it in services, but since there are multiple services and dependencies, it's not the best solution.
