Assign printer based in ip-address or login-server?
Hi.... Is it possible to assign printer(s) to users based on the ip-scope og logon-server? Our users are located in different countries, where the networks' ip-scope differentiates on third octet (Denmark = 172.21.4.x, Sweden = 172.21.8.x, Norway = 172.21.12.x etc.) I'm looking for a way to assign one or more local printer(s) to users no matter where he/she is logging in. Example: If a Swedish user is visiting the Danish office he/she should have a Danish printer assigned, but when in the Swedish

How to migrate DC to a new server?
Is it possible and if so, what steps need to take place for moving the DC installation to a new server. I have sent multiple emails to DesktopCentral Support and have not heard back from them. We want to move Desktop Central off an old server to a new VM server that has been setup. It will be much easier to maintain. I need to make sure that the agents that currently have DC installed will now point to the new server. Please help! Rob

Asset sync DC7 and SDP wrong Domain name
We have both Service Desk Plus and Desktop Central with DC7 sending the asset information to Service Desk. However, when the asset information is passed to Service Desk, it sends the AD domain information and not the domain information that DC7 uses. Domain - company_domain AD Domain =company.local This casues an issue when trying to iniciate a software load from SDP to DC7. AD Reports for OU in Domain
Is there a way to have Desktop Central scan a specific OU in the domain for the AD reports? I was very surprised when seeing that our entire parent domain was scanned into the reports, and am now concerned for my job. I have this feature now turned off, but really do need it for our OU in the domain. Also, is there a way to purge all of that information out of Desktop Central? I have seen this question asked in 2009, but wanted to ask again.
Configuration Problem
Hey, I am working on creating a configuration to lock down computers for public use. In the configuration we have set several options. When we deploy the configuration, all settings seem to be taking effect except for the "network" settings. Any idea why this would be happening?
Yet to Apply
I have a working install of ManageEngine build 70140 and agents version 7.1.35 on 6 machines. Patch scans are working fine and patch deployments are also working fine. The problem is with software deployments. I deployed a package to all 6 machines. It deployed fine to 4 of them, but is stuck at "Yet to Apply" on 2 of them. I have restarted these 2 machines multiple times and the package still does not deploy. How do I troubleshoot this? Thanks!
Update delay
Please see 2 attached screen shots, both from 02.15.2011. The built-in Windows Update shows 4 important updates available, but the ManageEngine scan does not show these updates in the database, even though they are 7 days old! What accounts for this delay? I would assume and expect that all vendor updates are released into the VulDB within 24 hours of release by the vendor. Is this not true?

remote uninstall
I am looking for a way to uninstall a piece of software without using a configuration requiring the installer/msi for the original package. For many applicaitons, we don't have this information. I just want to remotely uninstall from a given machien based on the inventory information. Similar to what you can do in Lansweeper or some other products.
No "Mark as" Button in latest Patches
I can approve patches everywhere but not in "lates Patches"....that's not good... When i check the new patches i want to directly approve them or not...when you go to Latest Patches you can't do that....you have to go to Applicable Patches ...there you have "Mark as" ....makes no sense. Please add the "Mark as" button to Latest Patches in the next releases. Thx! Martin
Remote Control - WAN Connections slow
Hi, Our company has a lot of satellite sites connected to us through vpn tunnels over standard DSL connections. We have a problem, when using remote control, there is a bit of lag because the colours are quite heavy. Is it possible, as with VNC, to down scale the amount of colours so the connection is a little snappier? ie 64 colours Thanks

Desktop Central Agent Hangs during patch process.
I have noticed that on several occasions, and on different machines, the agent notification hangs during patch upload. It will sometimes get one or two patches installed and then just sit there until the system is rebooted. It doesn't give the user any further information, only that the patch update is underway and to wait. Waiting is of no use as It never finishes and closes the window on it's own. I am deploying Desktop Central at my compagnie and I have the following problem. We have several desktop administrators that have the pc's of a department in their care and have full access to those pc's. If I let them use Desktop Central they will have access to all pc's. Is there a way to limit a user in Desktop Central to a group of pc's?

Hi I am currently trying to update from build 70126 as I have found it really buggy. The latest hotfix available on the manage engine does not seem to work. I keep getting an error saying the "ppm file that you have specified is not compatible with this product." Has anyone else had this issue or is there a resolution for this issue. Thanks

I am probably missing something very simple here but how do a perform a network based scan. I have a bunch of remote subnets with clients that are not on a domain so I would like to give desktop central an IP range to scan. Agent Installation Issue
I am trying to install the agent on my computer (Intel i5 with 12Gb ram running Windows 7 Pro 64bit) through the Admin > Scope of Management window. After selecting my computer I clicked on install agent however after 35 minutes it still says "Agent installation has started in 1 computer" with an Agent Status of Yet to Install against my computer name. I suspect something has gone wrong as 35 mins to install on a local network seems to high, can anyone point me to some logs please ? Thanks,
