Deactivate Inventory scanner and delete agent log files (and some other questions)
Hello, sorry bad english. We have some problems with our new Desktop Central 7 system. At some servers the agent and the services need many memory. Up to 1 GB RAM for the inventory scanner. The inventory logs in the log folders are more then 100-200 MB big. Can I deactivate the inventory scanner? Or can I define areas on the local computer that the scanner don't scan? The system recieve many datas from other locations, transfer the data into a new format and send it to other system. All this transfers
Nested Software Deployment
We are looking at migrating from Novell's ZCM 11 to Desktop Central but there are some issues that are still nagging me. For example: 1. We have Application A that has requirements 1,2,3 and 4. How do we install 1,2,3, and 4 before Application A? 2. We have an Application that has had updates and a MSP file released for it. How do we install the MSI and then the MSP in one operation? Scheduled Reports return buggy/empty attachment
Hi there, I'm playing around with scheduled reports at the moment and have found that two of my reports don't work. The report "System Uptime Report" should email a report in PDF format, as an attachment. I received the email with the attachment, but the file is only 306B and is unable to be opened. Adobe Reader says the file is either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged. I have run the report several times, each time encountering the issue with it. Sender E-Mail Address
Build No : 70221 'Sender E-Mail Address' for Scheduled Reports always stays admin@desktopcentral.com. Fields in Mail Server Settings seem not working, whatever I put in 'Sender Name' or 'Sender E-Mail Address', emails are received always from admin@desktopcentral.com. For [Send a Test mail] everything works properly. Sender address is always custom. Last verion where custom sender address was working properly for me, was- No : 70114
Software Metering, disable on client
How can I prevet the client application from metering software usage. Our 600 German users have raised a legal objection that such metering is illegal as it constitutes performance appraisal. Need a quick answer or they are going to force me to uninstall the application.
Performance Issues with Remote Control
Hi - I looked for other forum posts on this and the only one I led to a dead link...... We are trying to use Desktop Central for remote support of our 8 branches, but the performance of Remote Control is really slow - terrible lag. There are a few machines that I use VNC and Logmein to access and the performance on these products is significantly better. Is there anything we can tweak to improve this? I would like to have Desktop Central be the single source solution for remote management. Thanks.

I have a windows 7 64 bits... and in old messages I read that Desktop Central don´t support the 64-bit Operating Systems. Exist agent for 64 bits ??? o not ? Thank
Custom message for configurations
When running configurations we always customize the message displayed to the user when permitting them to cancel the restart. How can we permanantly change the default message so we do not have to constantly retype it? Thanks!

Deploying Flash Player 10.3.181.14 on Firefox 4.0.1
Hello, I have 5 clients that have Firefox 4.0.1 installed on them. Last week Adobe released the new Flash Version 10.3.181.14. Those 5 machines were set to be patched from the old 10.2.159.1 version to the new 10.3.181.14 version over the past weekend. Well instead of being patched, DC said that the patches were not applicable to the target when n fact they were. My other 14 clients that are still running Firefox 3.6.17 all were able to be upgraded to the newest version of Flash Player. It appears

How to know the memory type and frequency of client PC?
I want to know the RAM/ memory type (i.e DDR1/ DDR2 etc) and its frequency (533MHz/ 667MHz etc) on the client PC on which Desktop Central client is installed.. Please advise on how to view the RAM type as well as RAM frequency of the memory fitted in client PC such that the details are visible in the central console.

Groups not updating
I'm having a bit of a problem; I wanted to deploy Office 2010 to a set of computers defined in a AD Security Group. Problem is, when I apply a configuration and assign it to that group, it just uses the members originally in the group. That is; if I add computers to that group, it won't reflect in DC; and consequently nothing happens. Same goes for custom groups. This can't be by design? If it is, it's a huge flaw. I want to be able to add computers to predefined groups, and they'll get the software
Manage PC's on remote network
I am trying to manage computers on a public network. I have installed a second nic on my DC and have configured a static ip address. I push the client to the workstation and everything seems to work, but when i tell DC to scan the client, the scan fails. The communication between the two doesnt seem consistent, sometimes i can ping the dc and at other times the ping fail. Am i setting this up incorrectly? I also tried configuring the wan agent with the new ip address of the second nic and i get the
Client PC File Search?
Can I use Desktop Central to search client PC local drives for a certain type of file and report on the findings? Specifically I want to find out which PC's have Outlook PST files (*.PST) stored on their local drives.
How do I access Desktop central without having to remote connect to server?
I would like the ability to connect to Desktop Central from any computer on the LAN but I find I can only do it by remote connecting to the server and running it through that. I have tried the following: http://dc-01:8020 http://dc-01:8383 http://192.168.0.3:8020 http://192.168.0.3:8383 But none of these work also tried with https Anyone have a clue or am I being stupid and the answer is easy.

I am trying to create a custom report that searches all computers that have two different software installations. For example i need to find all computers that have openoffice and microsoft office installed. When i run the query for openoffice--- starts with openoffice, by its self i get the results i need. If i run another report for Microsoft Office 2010 by itself i get the results that im looking for. If i put the two queries together using "and" the results are blank. I need to see all computers
Lotus Notes
We are currently a Lotus Notes office and 50% of the office is on 8.5.1 and the other 50% is on 8.5.2. We new users with Desktop Central and we are looking for a way to push the upgrade out including Fix Packs. I have found steps on ManageEngines website that involve using 7-Zip, but I have not been able to make it work. Does anyone out there have these programs and might have a possible solution? Thanks!

I am attempting to make a backup copy of our DesktopCentral_Server folder so I can install a hotfix. I have shut down ManageEngine Desktop Central, stopped all related services and ended all process but I continue to get a message that states "ib2d is being access by a user or program. Please close and continue." I have no idea who might be accessing this or where to find it to stop it. Any suggestions???
Network traffic issues on Desktop Central
Hey guys - We're running the latest build (70213) of DC and are having issues with network traffic on our distributed server. Network probe shows an almost constant incoming and outgoing volume of 13.1 - 15.1 Mb on ether.IP.TCP.8383 using RFC793 and the second highest being UDP.LIPsinc1 on 1969. I could really use some help tuning this up, its KILLING my network. I've already had my network guys on it I need to figure out how to throttle down the DC traffic. Can you please help me? Is anyone
Major traffic issues from Desktop central Server
We are having serious network activity spikes and a packet capture has identified our Desktop Central server as the culprit. Here's a sample of the capture - we have pages and pages of this. The problem appears when the ManageEngine DC service starts on the server and goes away when the service is stopped. I don't know what 77.96.161.232:80 is...it's not on our network. Apply Configuration to all Company computers
Good Day, I would like to create some baseline configurations for all computers regardless of company. i.e. disable AU, Schedule Automatic Patch deployment. How can this be done? Its seems as though I have to duplicate configurations across companies. I do not really want to have to do this for each customer. Errors can creap in, maintenance becomes a chore. Automate Patch Deployment - Draft Status
I just turned on "Automate Patch Deployment" and got my email that the scan was successful and a configuration has been drafted. When I go to Patch Management - > View Configuration, and click on "Global View", I see : Total: 1 Draft: 1 No Configurations Available. Unable to install agent from Build 70203
We are currently running MGE Desktop Central Build 70011 in our production environment. We are now testing Build 70203 in our development environment and are running into an issue installing the agent from SOM on this build. We are installing the agent on PCs that had the agent successfully installed from build 70011 (the agent was uninstalled successfully from this environment as well).
