Good morning i suggest some changes into desktop central. 1. In SOM should be able to create groups to organize and catalog the computers by group. This would help to apply different settings and look so easy teams. 2. It should be possible to easily move a computer from a local to a remote office at the option of direct connection, this because sometimes there are users who move from place to place and support must change because it is not the same as this in a remote field office. 3. Query Report - Looking For A List of Sub-Modules & Their Objects
The Desktop Central example for a query report is: select SOFTWARE_NAME, LONG_TO_DATE(DETECTED_TIME) from invsw where DETECTED_TIME <= DATE_TO_LONG(09/29/2009 00:00:00) or (DETECTED_TIME <= <from_lastmonth> and DETECTED_TIME>= <to_lastmonth>) The item "invsw" tells the query that your pulling information from the "Software" sub-module. Can I bulk import Computer Loction to the existing computer records please?
We have all the computers registered in Desktop Central. In another system we have the location of all our users. I need to update all the Computer Location fields for the computer based on last login or possibly computer name and then keep this up to date. I need to automate at least the initial import. I assume from a coupe of the forum posts that I cannot get direct access to the MySQL database and tables. This would be my prefered method if I could. There is also an "Import from CSV" option

Desktop Central Not Keeping Browser Logged In
We are wanting to place a system in the IT Office that cycles through our various monitoring software and it seems that Desktop Central is not keeping the browser logged in. I haven't paid close enough attention to identify how long exactly, but we upgraded from 70213 to 70216 with no change. After refreshing the page manually over a period of time, it just goes back to the login screen with the "Keep Me Logged In" checkbox checked. Is there another alternative to get certain views visiable
Office 2010 remote install
We have a medium sized organization with about 450 users, 60 of which are remote VPN users out on jobsites throughout the US. I am trying to find a good way through Desktop Central to deploy Office 2010. Anyone have a good idea?

I am running Desktop Central MSP 7 build 70211. I downloaded the latest hotfix ManageEngine_Desktop_Central_7_0_0_SP-2_24.ppm. When I use the Update Manager to try to update I get Error - the ppm file that you have specified is not compatible with this product. Help!

Suggested features for Desktop Central
Features we would like to see in a future release :- 1. Ability to apply patches now, not have to wait 90 minutes or for the user to logon. 2. When deploying patches to a group of computers and several fail you cannot remove those computers from the patch configuration. If you could remove the users it would stop them retrying a process that has failed. Editing the configuration results in it being redeployed to all machines, including those that succeeded. 3. Restart options after patch install

Memory leak in Desktop Central Agent
I have noticed that the agent program dcswmeter.exe is consuming large amounts of memory on some of our servers. Restarting the service returns the memory usage to a sensible level. The memory used has been between 1GB and 2GB on some servers which obviously has a knock on affect on the server performance. I have seen this in both Windows 2003 and 2008 servers. The agent version is 7.2.16.
Report using OU
I would like to ask about Report using OU. I couldn't find report related to OU in almost every report. For example Reports > User Reports > Disabled User Account, i want to use OU to filter every department in my office, but i couldn't find one. Also in Custom Reports if you select any "Select Sub Module:" there isn't criteria related to OU and i thought is not very useful :) Thanks

Patching mechanism
Hello, I have a question about DesktopCentral's patching functionality. I read the documentation but it did not give an answer. If I deploy a patch configuration to a client with 100 patches, but the client only needs 5 of them, how many patches will the client download? Will the client download and attempt them all locally, or will it know which patches it needs from a configuration and only download those?

Hello, sorry bad english. We have some problems with our new Desktop Central 7 system. At some servers the agent and the services need many memory. Up to 1 GB RAM for the inventory scanner. The inventory logs in the log folders are more then 100-200 MB big. Can I deactivate the inventory scanner? Or can I define areas on the local computer that the scanner don't scan? Nested Software Deployment
We are looking at migrating from Novell's ZCM 11 to Desktop Central but there are some issues that are still nagging me. For example: 1. We have Application A that has requirements 1,2,3 and 4. How do we install 1,2,3, and 4 before Application A? 2. We have an Application that has had updates and a MSP file released for it. How do we install the MSI and then the MSP in one operation? Scheduled Reports return buggy/empty attachment
Hi there, I'm playing around with scheduled reports at the moment and have found that two of my reports don't work. The report "System Uptime Report" should email a report in PDF format, as an attachment. I received the email with the attachment, but the file is only 306B and is unable to be opened. Fields in Mail Server Settings seem not working, whatever I put in 'Sender Name' or 'Sender E-Mail Address', emails are received always from admin@desktopcentral.com. Software Metering, disable on client
How can I prevet the client application from metering software usage. Our 600 German users have raised a legal objection that such metering is illegal as it constitutes performance appraisal. Need a quick answer or they are going to force me to uninstall the application.
Performance Issues with Remote Control
Hi - I looked for other forum posts on this and the only one I led to a dead link...... We are trying to use Desktop Central for remote support of our 8 branches, but the performance of Remote Control is really slow - terrible lag. There are a few machines that I use VNC and Logmein to access and the performance on these products is significantly better. Is there anything we can tweak to improve this? I would like to have Desktop Central be the single source solution for remote management. Thanks.

Custom message for configurations
When running configurations we always customize the message displayed to the user when permitting them to cancel the restart. How can we permanantly change the default message so we do not have to constantly retype it? Thanks!

Deploying Flash Player 10.3.181.14 on Firefox 4.0.1
Hello, I have 5 clients that have Firefox 4.0.1 installed on them. Last week Adobe released the new Flash Version 10.3.181.14. Those 5 machines were set to be patched from the old 10.2.159.1 version to the new 10.3.181.14 version over the past weekend. Well instead of being patched, DC said that the patches were not applicable to the target when n fact they were. How to know the memory type and frequency of client PC?
I want to know the RAM/ memory type (i.e DDR1/ DDR2 etc) and its frequency (533MHz/ 667MHz etc) on the client PC on which Desktop Central client is installed..
