3 User Limit - User Deleted Removed - Can't add Another
Once the free version of Desktop Central MSP has 3 users created, it changes to "Upgrade your license" so that you cannot add a fourth. However, I had three users, removed one, and cannot add another. Please advise if I can get some help, or if not because I am a free user. I plan on purchasing the software at the end of the month. DC 7 still identifies one of my member servers as a domain controller?
I run desktop central 7 but I do not have any agents installed on my servers, only on my workstations... one of the daily reports I receive from desktop central is the Domain Controllers report. (View Domain Controllers available in active directory). This report still shows a DC that I demoted a good month and a half ago(and is now just a member server). Where is DC pulling this information from?
Desktop Central Build 70203 Agent Install
Hello, we currently are using Build 70011 in our Desktop Central production environment. We are now testing Build 70230 in development and have run into some issues installing the agent on some PCs. The agent installs fine from Build 70011 but the error "Unable to get the agent status. Operation timed out", occurs for the same PCs when we attempt to install the agent from the new build (via SOM). Network problem on DC Server
Hello! I have this kind of strange problem on the pc/server I am running Desktop Central on. Every night/evening i shut down the network. And yes it is the DC that is the problem because if i stop the service and kill the DC process it runs fine. So what i have to do now is to restart every morning and its is not so good because i run some other programs on it that i want to have running all the time... The computer is a regular pc with W7 Prof on Anybody has a idea on what to do???
Specific Office Application usage report
Hello, I want to know if it is possible to generate a software report based on usage of specific Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) as apposed to just "Microsoft Office XP Professional" I wish to generate a report that shows which users frequently use Microsoft Access and which ones do not. Patch Scan does not reflect applied patches accurately??
Machines to which patches are applied are rescanned and still showing that the patches need to be applied? Any clues why this would be happenning? I thought it might be because the patches were irrelevant (ex. Office 2010 when we only run 2007) but it was happening with windows updates as well. Anyone else experiencing this problem? Remote Control Feedback
So, we're really excited about desktop central. One of the items we feel could use improvement on is the remote control system. Bottom line, it's frustrating and doesn't feel simple. I don't know the technical difficulties faced when developing this module, so I will simply say that somehow logmein.com has managed to do it very very well. I would consider them to be a good model to use as you continue to develop the remote control engine in DC. Regards, Jerry
Add computers via SoM that don't have agent installed
I currently have several computers I have the agent installed on defined via my SoM. I now want to add more, but only want to select the computers that do not have the agent installed. I can't find anywhere in the SoM screens to filter by agent installation. Because I have a limited number of licenses, when I try to select all of the computers I want (both computers already listed in my SoM and computers that I want to add) Desktop Central yells back at me that I only have X number of licenses and
Purging all Active Directory information
We have accidentally imported our entire AD user information (even from our parent company). Instead of 600 users, we now have tens of thousands. Is there any way that I can purge this information out of DC? We currently user SQL 2005 for the back-end database.
Remove Built-In NT Authority groups from local Users group
Attempting to use the Group Management pre-configuration template to Modify the local Users group to Remove both the INTERACTIVE and Authenticated Users from membership, but it fails. Hi, When is NTLMv2 going to be supported in the Scope of Management. We had to ask our customer lo lower the security settings of the whole domain to allow DC to work. There is perhaps a workaround? Thanks
Quick Time Error
Hi Dear I am new to desktop central and I am receiving a error in quick time installation, I am using Windows server 2003 EE, and xp sp 3 on clients I am successful in quick time installation however when I try to run the application on clients system i receive an error (for your reference pictures nmaed quick time error is attached for your reference). and In other picture named status.jpeg, you can see the successful installation message in desktop central. please help me to resolve this issue.
Inventory Report
I'm having an issue with a few of my servers when they send out the automated inventory report they don't include the prohibited software. I confirmed the it is selected on the inventory report to notifiy of prohibited software and there is software tagged as prohibited. Any ideas?
MSP - Auto Software Deployment on new machines
Hello, Im evaluating the MSP version for a replacement of current management system. I want to create several deployment tasks that install standard applications to customers remote offices, and to have them remain active so that new machines that are deployed in the offices gets the same applications automatically. I took this ability for granted but it seems like the task only runs on the machines deployed at the given moment the task is submitted? Is this at all possible to achieve?

Stopping patch deployment over 3G networks
Is there a way to ensure that patches are not deployed if the target computer connects via a 3G aircard please ? I was about to deploy a number of patches to a machine, the user disconnected from the LAN and started up his wireless aircard (Sierre Wireless 360) and connected via a VPN. At this point the DC agent must have connected to the server and started the patch install. The patches were huge (one of them was XP SP3), fortunately I spotted what was happening and dropped the VPN and aircard

When I Install Agent from server to HP thin client [T5730] (Citrix client) fail and have error message " An extended error has occurred". Storage of Software Repository

Desktop Central 7 Mail Server setting
Any one can tell me how to set up the Mail server in system. We are using Exchange server 2007, When I input the Server name, should I just key in the DNS name of my exchange server? ie. "CPPMMS01", any port # should use for Exchange server or use the default port 25?. The email type should be SMTP and no TLS enable. Beside should I turn requires authentication, and what is the different on use the authentication or not? Raphael
Background running process list
It would be helpful in diagnosing possible virus/trojan infections, if we could have an at-a-glance look at the currently running processes on the system. I don't see this as having to be real time, but accurate as of the last scan (since a scan can be implemented on any system at any time, not just based on a schedule). Real time metrics would take up to much bandwidth and processes.
Troubleshooting the "Connect" button in DC7
When I press the connect button nothing happens. This is on multiple pc's. I can scan workstations fine (manually through the button next to connect) but when the connect button to launch the remote desktop sessions does nothing. Any ideas what to check (popup blockers are off).

Weird things happen when patching a PC
Kind of hard to explain but when we patch a PC with a patches it seems to steal the active window focus. As an example I patched a users PC today with the base configuration of doing it silently and not requiring a reboot. While the user was working he would continually have the focus taken off of his database window requiring him to click back on the database window to make it active. While I was at his desk it too the focus off the window minimum of 5 times.
Agent won't stay connected
On some of my Windows Server 2003 devices, the Desktop Central Agent keeps losing its connection to the Desktop Central Server. It does connect some of the time, so it's not an issue of the port being blocked. As far as I know, there are no other services trying to use the same port, either. Do you have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? It's becoming a problem for patching. Thanks! -Chris

How can I schedule a job/installation/windows update to run between specific window? I want to schedule something it should run only at night times not in the day. If some one working on a laptop and take home at night it should not run the job for him when he plugs back his laptop next day. In advance Thank you and appreciate your help!!
Changing "Registered To" field
Is there a way to change the Registered To field within Desktop Central. I suspect it get the name from the local admin account that is created during installation of the O/S. Some of my colleagues have used random names which are now appearing in DC and I would like to change them to something more meaningful.
Desktop Central 7 Core Server Service Starts and Stops
We applied the latest service pack on Friday, and since then, the server Event Viewer shows that the Core Server Service keeps starting and stopping. Also, the Web Console fails to load, get Service Temporarily Unavailable error. This is the 2nd time this has happened with a service pack.
ManageEngine Desktop Central Server 7 Service
After applying the latest service pack for Desktop Central 7, the Web Console fails to load and the ManageEngine Server Service keeps starting and stopping. This has been happening since Friday night after applying the service pack. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Retrieving Information from Desktop Central from outside of the application
We have a proprietary help desk ticketing solution that we are not ready to replace yet. One of the features in the ticketing system was to pull inventory information of the computer in question. With the previous inventory product we used(Specops), we simply passed the computer name in the url to retrieve information. I know that with servicedesk it is possible, but in the absence of that, are there any options?

Yesterday, i made a configuration with options .. time options: Startup. I push deploy... and Mysteriously, the install execute in several computers that were on....... Its a bug ????
Patch Management not reporting operating system correctly.
We have today updated Desktop Central to build 70202 and watched the agent correctly update itself on our desktop machines. When I look at the inventory the operating system is correctly reported (see Inventory.jpg) If however I go to Patch Mgmt and select All Managed Systems the same machines are being reported as Windows Vista, however they really are Windows 7 Pro (see PatchMgmt.jpg). Running a new patch scan appears to fix this and the operating system then reports Windows 7 again.
Running Desktop Central through the Internet
Please bear with me ...I am BRAND NEW to Manage Engine and Desktop Central. Scenerio: I am familiar with using Kaseya to manage desktops through the Internet and recently landed a new job in which I spearheaded the installation of Manage Engine Desktop Central. Desire: I would like to set up my MEDC server to be accessible from the Internet so that I may be able to deploy patches and remote into machine etc etc..without having to be in the office. Have checkdisk scan all disks.
Hi We recently lost power to our server farm and we wanted to use Desktop central to automate the checkdisk process. We found that there was no simple way of checking all disks on a server in one go, if I have missed it please let me know. We had to create a task for each server select the individual drive letter of the drive we wanted to check. Some of our servers vary in the amount of drives they have, such as C: D: and E:, and some have only a C:. Our citrix servers for example use U: and V:.
