Desktop Central Feature Request - email on completion of configuration
Dear Support, I have asked this by email (a few months ago) and thought I would ask again here to see what everyone else thinks. When you create an automated patch deployment you have the option for it to send you an email when it has completed. I would like the option for sending an email to be added to EVERY type of configuration. For example, if I patch a group of servers in the patch management module I would like to be emailed when it completes, with either a summary or verbose report of all
Problem while downloading the patch from server
Hi I'm having trouble deplying patches from our installation of Desktop Central 8. The patches have been successfully downloaded and are in the software repository, but whenever I try to install them to any client machine, it fails with the error "Problem while downloading the patch from server" Where can I look for logs with more details of what's actually causing this error? Agent - Lots of black boxes flashing on screen
Hi, After the last update the agent is now displaying lots of black boxes every time our users logon / every 90 minutes. Can someone please tell me how to disable this? Thanks

deploying software run as 'user' still running as 'system'
Hello DC team, I am wondering why this is not working? I have created a deployment in which case I would like interaction with the desktop. I have choose to run the installer as domain admin. The issue I am running into is even in the summery it's showing correct as run as 'domain/user' on the local workstation the exe I am trying to run is running as 'system'. In this case I have to run it as admin to I get an interaction with the desktop and the user will get a pop up where to enter a password.
IP scan for servers in Desktop Central
We currently have both Desktop Central and ServiceDesk Plus. We have Desktop Central performing the asset scanning, and feed it into ServiceDesk. ServiceDesk's asset scanning is off. Is there a way to scan an IP range via Desktop Central, or do I need to turn on ServiceDesk IP scanning? If I do that, will I see duplicate asset entries in ServiceDesk (scan results from Desktop Central and ServiceDesk)? Thanks, Dave

Hi, I am suddenly unable to post a request after having done so for many months, all my technicians can but not me so can anyone shine some light? How to fully extend text in Desktop Central?
In the text columns that show programs in list form, is there any way to fully extend the text to show the entire program name in the column? I know you can scroll over it and it will bring up a bubble with the full name, but I was curious if you could extend it further than 20 letters or whatever it decides to stop at. Much appreciated.

Set photo screensaver
Hi, I could not find the configuration to set the photo screensaver with directed to a specific folder. If it was directed to My Pictures, the screensaver would appear all the user's pictures instead of company's logo. Thanks.
Changing wallpaper permanently

Is it possible to report on the existence of a specific file on a machine or a particular type of file? I have several scenarios in mind, one would be to report on the existence of a log file that is generated by a script I run at startup, the second scenario would be to report on users that have .pst files stored locally. Every inventory scan fails since Build No:80251
Hi DesktopCentral-Team, this weekend we implemented the 80251 hotfix. Everything seems ok, the agents have updated correctly. But since then, 900 of 950 inventory scans are failing at various clients: xp, win7, 2003, 2008 etc. We tried to uninstall and re-install the client, what worked perfectly. But with no impovement at inventory scanning. Patch scanning works well, so does software deployment. What additional information can be helpful? Or are there already any ideas? Thank you very much! Running a script after automated patching.
Is there a way to execute a script after automated patching? We have hard drive encryption software on our laptops and we need to run a script to skip the encryption software when it reboots.
Collect data usage details from device
To collect as part of the scan the data used since last scan. Only data using phone carrier needs to be recorded this would enable highlighting of phones/accounts where data limit might be exceeded and incur high usage costs.

To be able to set a profile where all apps are prohibited except for the whitelisted ones. This would be much easier to administer than having to go through all discovered apps and blacklist the ones not permitted on corporate devices.

To lock the device or restrict it to wifi only (or other restriction) if prohibited software is installed

It is annoying to have to keep re-entering details of software licences in both DC and SD+ It is also likely to lead to many mistakes on compliance if one is updated and not the other.
User administration DC8 -Role
Hello, i have one problem with defining roles for user. In User Administration i created new Role: Service_Desk and on Configuration module i gave permission Read Only. In that case my SD technician can see all configuration that i created but cant select target for deploy (Computer name or anything else) and that's problem for me. In second case for my Role: Service_Desk on Configuration module i gave permission Full control. With that permission he can delete configuration create new configurations
Installing the Agent on an external Client

Where i have to place the packages so that the external clients can download them? shared network printer not detecting while browsing
I have added an IP printer in one PC and shared it. But it is not getting detected while browsing for printers, however some other printers are detecting. If I add the path manually, it is giving me an error that "driver can not be installed, access denied". What could be the reason?. Regards Jobin

How to do a bulk "Scan Now" for Warranty Expiry dates
Hello, We have inputted the product number for our HP units and the Expiry Date is still now showing even after the Scheduled Inventory Scan takes place, the Expiry Date info does not populate or update. We have had to open each computer one by one and click on "Scan Now" to pull up Expiry Date info. We have a lot more HP units and this is not a very effective way to update this info. Please tell us there is a better way. Thanks!
New false positive for patch 7753 (MS09-060) Outlook 2003 security update
This morning I'm seeing a whole bunch of hosts (supposedly) missing patch 7753 (MS09-060), a security update for MS Outlook 2003 (KB973705). Only problem is, the machines are running MS Office 2010. On one machine, I tried manually installing the patch, and I was informed the prerequisite software isn't installed -- which I kind of figured. Are you getting other reports of this issue? Feature Condition in MSI maintenance mode

Adding Services Under Configuration
Hi, Under Configuration > Add Configuration > Computer Configuration > Services I was trying to add some new services that are not available by default. Beside "Service Name" there is the "Customize" option then there is the ability to browse for services. When I click "Browse" the Desktop Central reports that there are "No Computer Available". Deploying 600034-JavaForOSX2013-004
I am having problems delploying this patch to our Mac OS machines. The configurations get "Download failed" errors. I have tried to download the patches but i get a checksum error from Desktop central. I went to Oracle and tried to manually download the patch and rename it and put it in depository folder but it still fails. All my other patches are working fine and there's plenty of space on the server. Our webfilter/firewall are also not affecting this machine. Is there anything else I can try to
Remote control stopped working
I am using latest DC. Updated Java for the millionth time. Now I cant remote control anything and get a ClassNotFoundException and it shows com.adventnet.my computer.viewer.viewer. Anyone have this or any help for me? Not sure what broke, but I am hurtin right now without remote. Also I cant load XML files now when I try Active X viewer.
Mozilla Firefox 22 showing as an OS update
Apologies if this has already been asked: It appears that Mozilla Firefox version 22 is known to Desktop Central patch database, but it's showing up as an OS patch instead of third party. This is happening consistently across our 150 managed clients, and it hasn't ever happened with prior versions of Firefox. Is this a known bug, or is Firefox now considered part of Windows 7/Windows XP by Zoho Corp? Thanks.
MDM
We have run into a problem adding users and devices into the MDM. No matter who we try to add we always get User Name already exists. We connect to our domain, use search to find a user, allocate them to the approprate device and configs and then hit go. It always gives us the same answer "User Name already exists." Help appreciated. Ian
