Dell Powerconnect Switches
Is there anyone out there that is using Dell Powerconnect switches and Op Manager? I have a Powerconnect 6248 Stack and 2 powerconnect 2848 switches and wouldl like to monitor them inside OP Manager. I currently have them discovered and SNMP is working correctly, but I would like to monitor some other things like CPU, Memory, Fans Power Supplies etc. Can anyone lend a hand? Some of the Standard Widgets displaying "No Data Available"
[I changed the topic type to Problem, because it is a problem] OpManager 8721 Some of the standard widgets appearing on the snapshot page of my routers and switches are showing "No Data Available", even after several days. Rogue ESX Host in "Virtual Devices"
We have a rogue ESX host and 11 VMs which we have been unable to remove. This is stopping any new ESX hosts from being picked up once added to Virtual Device. How do we remove this Host ? Thanks Jason
Creating Business views
Hi, I am trying to make a business view made up from about 40 devices. when I edit the business view, all devices appear in the squared area; upon saving, they all shift right - quite a lot. I don't fully understand the role of background image ( technically only ) - if i will will use a custom png file - like world.png ( but with increased size so that it will accommodate more devices ) - is that a valid scenario? it has obviously something to do with the image - but i don't want to screw anything
IBM AIX Query
Hi Team Is it possible to use any other Access to IBM AIX Servers for getting the CPU/Memory and DISK. We know that we have to use 'root' access but unfortunately, one of our customers - CIMB Bank has restrictions for using 'root' account in our OpManager tool. Disk Threshold Alerts not holding
Hello, Running Opmgr 8721 on a brand new server, started from scratch and installed 8721 and rediscovered all devices. I goto add a disk threshold limit to alert if under 1GB, hit ok, come back and edit the alert to check if the values are still there, and it's empty. All threshold alerts are gone for all servers, over 600! Please help, I have submitted an email to support with a screenshot. Thanks.
Sonicwall NSA 2400 interface stats
Hi, I'm running the free edition of OpManager and have tried monitoring my Sonicwall NSA 2400 but only some of the stats show on the dashboard. For example the interfaces tab on the snapshot shows NA for Rx/Tx/Errors but if I click on the real time button I can see the data streaming past just fine. There is also no data for CPU Utilization and Memory Utilization is streaming but constantly showing 0%. Do I need to adjust the configuration somewhere to get these stats? Regards Cameron

I have a question, when OpManager has an alert that automatically becomes Rearmed, then the alerts is automatically cleared but remain unassigned. Can you somehow get all automatic "rearms" to be Assigned as a "system" or similar? For as it is now, it does not look so good, when generating reports on alerts and you see a lot of alerts that has been cleared but no one has acknowledged them.
Problems whit opmanager v7
Hi. I have a problem in OpManager v7. When I add a host to win2000 server in the category of server detects it whitout Problems, only when the server goes down the OpManager does not detect that this down, always marked as up. On the server I have configured a community that used in OpManager. Add the same host as Desktop, it is detected and when it falls, this category Desktop if it shows how down and generates alerts as assigned. That may be happening? thanks

WMI counter for MS SQL Server returning zero
I have added a WMI counter for SQL Server as a performance monitor and used SQL Server: Database mirroring log send queue db then selected the _Total instance If I watch this counter in perfmon I can see the value increasing but OpManage always returns 0 Have tried this upon a simple SQL server, named instance and cluster - all 0 How can I monitor this value? Problems with OpManager 8721
Hi We have Opmanager 8721 running on Windows 2008 R2 64 bits Standard Edition with 8 Gb RAM and 4 cores. It worked fine until about 2 weeks. We can't add devices at the existing views. When we try to edit one of the business view, nothing happens when we press the add device (or any of the other buttoms). In addition, since yesterday, not updated the availability of the devices monitored and alarms are not cleared to recognize some. any help is appreciated. thanks Horacio

Monitoring Functionality with OpManager ?
I need to periodicaly check if various modules are still functional, for example if DNS translates a name into IP, if DHCP is indeed capable of returning an IP from pool, if the database server does answer to a specific query, if SMTP, POP3, IMAP still work, if I can query a specific Web server, etc., etc. Can OpManager perform such functionality tests, as against status monitoring only? It is not about whether the corresponding services are up and such, but if the various queries return the expected
how to connect Windows 7?
hi, i have gotten the task of trying to connect our Windows 7 machines to OP manager. and the OPmanager finds the computers and adds them, but it dosnt show any detail nor operating system, is there another program you have to install on the windows 7 machines except SNMP protocol?
Feature Request
There has been a few times that I have had to remove specific monitors from a server and try to re add them. For example MSSQL or Exchange specific monitors. It would be nice to have a Quick configuration wizard that would allow one to remove either of these from a server instead of having to remove them all manually. Because I have the servers in other business views I do not want to remove the whole device and re add it as then I have to touch all of them again as well. Thanks, Joe
NCM shortcut not available for Cisco Access Point
Hi, I installed the latest OPM 8721 and NCM 5510. I added some Cisco Access Point on both the OPM and NCM. When I look to the Access Point in the OPM I cannot see the shortcut to the Running/Startup configuration like I can see for other devices like Routers or Switches. Is it as per design? URL Monitor alarms NULL
Hello, I have noticed that when alarms are generated by the URL monitors, when looking at the event summary widget they are categorized (event type) as NULL. I would have thought it might have been a little more specific, to save drilling into it. For further clarification - see attached image :) Am I missing something? Thanks in advance Troy

Hi All, I notice a strange issue and hope it can be fixed by modifying some configuration files. The issue is as follows: - I added a switch into OpManager, - OpManager picks it up and imports all the *ACTIVE* interfaces and start monitoring them, - The remaining ports are left and not monitored by OpManager. - I activate one of those inactive ports, but OpManager does not seem to auto-discover the recently-active port. Problem creating business view / editing existing view
Hi We have recently upgraded to Opman 8 build 8721 We haven't really been using business views before, but would like to do so. When I try to add a new business view, i get a dialog box : "initializing business view", but it just runs forever. If I try to edit one of the older business view, we made as a test earlier, nothing happens, when I press the Add device (or any of the other buttoms) I can see, that others have had the same problem, but cannot see any solution for the problem
Interface polling interval
Hi, We are using OpManager to monitor our network switches/routers. We notice that if a port goes down or up, OpManager takes unexpected number of minutes before it sends a notification that a port state is changed. Is this interval configurable? I tried to change the polling interval of the switch to 1 mins, but the result is still unexpected. looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Win 2K Server - CPU Usage
Hi, Have just installed OPManager on a 30 day trial. All seems to be pretty good so far except for one niggle. We have a Win 2K Server (SP4) which is constantly reporting 98% CPU usage. Obviously this isn't correct. Any ideas? Regards Tim Felton
OpManager crashes when viewing unsolicited traps
Hi, Our OpManager instance crashes when viewing the unsolicitied traps from the Alarms - Active Alarms - Unsolicted traps. When attempting to view this page it hangs for a while then reports Error!. This takes down the entire OpManager application and requires a restart to get it working again. I have performed a DBRepair and a server restart but this issue continues. Can you please assist. MS SQL, No Databases Listed?
At the weekend we detached and re-attached a couple of databases on one database server. We also installed microsoft critical updates. After this I noticed one or two databases mounted on that server where not monitored in op-manager so I clicked "Select Databases to Monitor" and nothing was listed. I also checked a second database server and this is also now showing no databases in the "Select Databases to Monitor" list. Interface grouping
I imagine grouping of interfaces per the service they support is a very cool idea to be available in the system. Scenario 1. A network with multivendor WAN links would benefit from the monitoring and reporting of the interface availability (to mean the WAN link availability) This will help in the mangement of business SLA. Scenario 2. a LAN Switch can have specific ports configured for specific VLANs to mean a department, business function etc. it would be therefore usefult to manage and report

Trying OpManager WMI
I am experimenting with the OpManager Free Edition Build 8721. I was trying to add a WMI-based custom monitor as per User Guide pg. 64 and I am getting the error: Failed to get performance counters from the selected WMI class. for every machine and every WMI class I tried. I've checked and re-checked the credentials. I can access WMI on those machines with a third-party WMI browser, with the same credentials. Is this a limitation of the free edition? TIA Alex
SQL monitors attached to the wrong instance.
When I attach SQL monitors to one instance of SQL server, they also attach themselves to the default instance of SQL as well, even if the default instance is not shown when adding the monitors. It's making it very difficult to monitor the server, as the problems show up on both instances, even though they're only on one of them, and the thresholds can't be changed, as the other instance's monitor seems to overwrite the new threshold settings. SNMP Traps type CLEAR are not reaching OpManager
Hi, I am utilizing a propriety MIB. SNMP Traps are reaching the server properly based on WireShark, but OpManager displays only the TRIGGER traps. When CLEAR traps are being sent they are not being displayed anywhere. The CLEAR traps are not even added to the alert_audit log. Both traps were configured at the trap.parsers conf file. Any ideas? More Flexible Time Windows for Reports
We need to generate reports (for SLA purposes) for this kind of time windows: Monday to Friday and from 08:00 to 17:00 and also exclude holidays. File Monitor issue
Hi, I have found that the file monitor functionality is not working as expected. I have created a file monitor to check File Existence on a server. Due to the length of time it takes to copy the file to the server (it is a large file), I have set the Consecutive Times value to 2. This seems to be ignored however, and the alarm is raised immediately after the 1st polling period determines the file is missing. Additionally, tests show that this problem also affects the File Age check. Can you
opmanager doing snmp-get towards ip not managed by opmanager
well, they belonged to switches a long time ago before the ip's changed, but now these ip's are used by other servers, and they are complaining that they still get snmp-get from the opmanager. Calculating a percentage from two OIDS

import a list of devices
Hi i was looking for a way to discover a list of specific IPs ( from various subnets, from a CSV, Tab etc file) I have a few lists comprised of roughly 80 IPs each, and I want to add just them rather than adding all the subnets and then remove what i don't want - desktops and such - is there a way to do this? Checking if a file share \\server\share$ is available
On our file servers we are defining a lot of different shares. Sometimes some shares become inaccessible for various reasons. I need to periodically check their availability. The predefined OpManager monitors allow me to check files and folders, but only through mapped drives. I cannot map a drive to every share, so this is not a solution. What other solution would you recommend? TIA Alex
