hi all i am trying the new version of opmanager version 5.6. it is working good but suddenly the server is shutdown and gives me a amessage asking me to change the port because it is ocuppiedby another application, and i can't restart the service again and gives me the same message, so i need to restart the whole machine. i can't use the default port 80 because it's used by another application, i tried many ports, but all of them gave me the same message Will be happy with any reply haed
Netflow analyzer
i was analyzing net flow analyzing for internet usage by different Ip's without configuring any router information etc into it, but it is not working. Can anybody tell me whether i can monitior the traffic by just providing the IP address in the Netflow analyzer running at my proxy server for internet. regards punit
Modify Service Desk for Facilities Operations?
We really like Service Desk plus, so I showed it to our Facilities Operations people, the guys that run the building systems. They are looking at a $20k package that basically does what Service Desk does except for one thing. Service Desk does not manage Preventative Maintenance on Assets. It would be nice, even for IT, if Service Desk had a Preventative Maintenance feature. Say you have an asset, a high end scanner that needs cleaning every 3 months. Couple of suggestions?
Hi, we have just purchased SDP for our firm and we are very pleased with it. There are a couple of suggestions and questions that I have. Firstly, would it be possible when scanning a Domain or Workstation for it to detect the current logged on user? Most of our Users use the same Workstation everyday so this would make assigning each user to their workstation far easier for me. Also when scanning some of our Workstations fail the scan for some reason. Would this have anything to do with the DCOM
Recommending Product
This software is great, and is exactly what I could recommend to customers for monitoring thier network, but this software is so new and doesnt seem to be "out of the box" ready IMHO. I will watch the progression and see how it goes. I do hope that the defualt install will evolve into a more *compatible* for the lack of a better word, result and not requiring that much management at the start. Thanks. Guest
Everything is being logged as unknown protocol.
I'm running a Netscreen 208 setup to send Webtrends to the Firewall Anaylzer server (running 4.0 trial). All the traffic is being listed as an unknown protocol. If I go to the home screen and click on the yellow question mark icon next to the "Unassigned" in the "Protocol Group" column I get a popup window with an empty list titled: "List of Unknown Protocols for null" This is probably related to another problem I've encountered. If I go to Settings/Device Details and click on "Edit <device name>"
WELF logs being interpreted incorrectly. Quotes problem.
I posted another message about problems with protocols not being identified and being unable to change my device settings. I believe I've found the problem. Your WELF log parser reads quotes as literal values. So when it gets a log line like (straight from the archive directory): id=firewall time="2005-08-18 20:19:13" fw="vpn" pri=5 rule=130 proto="udp/port:1198" src=172.22.14.34 dst=84.119.100.217 sent=181 rcvd=67 duration=32 msg="Action:Permit" It's reading items like "udp/port:1198" as \"udp/port:1198\"
Backups....
Ok, I have just tried using the backup facility within service desk and it has created a file, but its only 281kb. This does not seem right considering the amount of data we have put into service desk. The folder that service desk is contained in is over 300mb! We are looking at adding it to our tape drive backup facilities but understand the server needs to be stopped first. Is it possible to do this with a batch file and a command line switch so that the box that comes up "this will shutdown service
blocking ports
Is there away to block ports in netflow.....example please are streaming web content and using a certain port number (which I can't remember)...is it possible to disable that port so no one is able to use it thanks

How to add a second link between devices
I'm just testing the software at the moment and we are very impressed with it. We have a number of sites and between them we have backup links, so if our primary link goes down, everything will switch over to the secondary one. How can i set in business views a second link between devices so i can monitor both links at the same time?? thanks for any help

Odd WMI monitoring
I'm testing out Opmanager on my network, and I seem to be having an issue with the WMI monitoring. On the computer that Opmanager is installed, it can monitor it fine, and I use an account I created on my DC to check (full admin account). When I try to monitor other servers (configuring the user to all of the devices in the domain) it will not monitor the devices. Now here is where it gets weird. If I go into a device, and then edit the WMI monitor of say, CPU usage, and click the test monitor button,
Operating System not included in scanned software
I would like to be able to use the License Tracking feature on Operating Systems, however, the scanned software module doesn't pickup the OS. I could enter the OS type manually as an asset, but then I will loose the License Tracking feature. Does anyone have any resolutions for this problem? Ryan
web problem
Hello, I have installed opmanager 5.6 on three boxes running XP. In both cases I couldn't start the web client. No problems with ports. It seems at the tray that opmanager service is running. When I am trying to open the web page to login I get waiting response from browser (ie and firefox) and timeouts after a while. What is happening? Is there something that opmanager requires to work and not mentioned anywhere? I have tried changing ports, disable everything else running antivirus,firewalls...

Login problem - "null"
Hi. I'm evaluating NetFlow Analyzer (build 4011), and after a week of running I got a problem with logging in. After I enter any valid username and password, all I get is the Login screen again, but with a line "null" above the input fields. Thanks. sameky

How much network traffic does OpManager generate if I am doing a Remote Administration? I mean if I install the Client on a Remote machine across WAN of 2 MBps capacity, can I administer the entire infrastructre without choking the bandwidth? I will appreciate your detailed answer.

Dropped Netflow Datagams
Hello, Is there a way to determine and/or report on the number of Netflow datagrams that have been dropped between the exporting router and the NFA server? If I'm not mistaken, Netflow datagrams contain sequence numbers that can be used for this purpose. Thanks
Manual entry of MBean operation argument
I see how a list of argument values can be created for an MBean operation by passing a coma separated list. But in our application, we need to be able to have the operator enter a value that is not predefined. We need to be able to type in a new value rather than being limited to making a selection from a drop-down. (In one case we must enter a product SKU.) Is this possible? If not, it would be a wonderful new feature addition!
CPU, Mem and Disk Uitls not updating
The CPU, Mem and Disk Utilisations are not updating. I have associated the SNMP resource monitors and checked the username and password. For a windows domain, do you have to specify the domain name in the username box? The troubleshooting page says to check if the device is responding using the MIB browser. I have never used the MIB browser before and have no idea what to do or how do it. If I select a monitor from Resource Monitors and Edit it, then click Test Monitor an error at the top of the
Problem with emailing the requester when a request is closed
Our company is evaluating your help desk software and has run into a snag. When a new ticket is opened the requester receives an email; hence the "Acknowledge Requester by email when a request is received" option is marked. However when one our technicians closes the ticket a confirmation email is NOT sent to the requester notifying them the ticket has been resolved and close. We verified our mail server settings are correct and the option to "Email Requester when a request is closed" is marked.
Only retriving logs from local machine.
It seems that i can only get logs from the local machine. none of the other server logs are imported.. it's been 2 days an it's at the logging about to start stage for the other servers. please help.

Organize Business Views and Dynamic IP's
Good Day! First Off, Great product! I love it and am looking at more. I have 2 questions: 1. Can I ogranize business views? I have been unable to find out how to move them around, so 1 business view is first. 2. I have a remote user and would like to monitor their router. Their router uses a Dynamic IP so I am using a dns address. When I add it in Opmanager it adds it with the IP address and I cannot change this to the DNS name instead. Is this possible? Thanks!

Replaceable Tags doesn't work
Hello I have included some Replaceable Tags in my configured actions (SMS & email) but when the action is executed the tags aren't replaced. I understand that when i test the action, the tags can't be replaced. But it happen with real alerts too. Any idea about the cause? Thanks

Feature Request for web client: Add custom pie/bar/dials
What might be handy feature is the ability to select a monitor eg Interface Tx Utilization -Gigabit ethernet Adapter and specify that I wanted the results displayed in a pie chart and the and have OpManager display this image next to the other 3 (cpu, ram, hdd % utilization) Another example, there is a custom monitor which is for a fan speed. Tell OpManager that I want the results displayed as a little speedo dial with 8000 rpm at its green line and under 5000 rpm as red.
Custom WMI monitor displays "NA" in graph
I have added several WMI monitors, such as physical disk reads/sec, following the directions in forums.adventnet.com/viewtopic.php?t=573. When I test the monitor, I get correct values. However, when I try to look at the graph using the same device as the test, it shows "NA". The monitor has been setup and "running" for about 16 hours and is scheduled to run every 15 minutes. Most, not all, of the WMI monitors I have added are doing this, but report results when I run the test. Attached is the vbscript

Problem with PRI interface
We have a Cisco 3745 router running IOS 12.2(15)T12. It has a PRI interface on it and we have several dialers set up. I enabled netflow on only the fast ethernet interface on this router initially but noticed that Netflow Analyzer saw all the dialers on this router. After a while we noticed that Netflow Analyzer was only showing outbound traffic for all the dialers. I then put the "ip route-cache flow" statement on one of our dialer interfaces. I then noticed that when i did "show ip cache flow"

Migrating from Windows 2000 Server to Linux Fedora
