LOST PASSWORD
Guys- I am using the OPManager 5.0 in my environment, and I lost the OP Manager password. Is there any way to recover admin password? I have only one user license. OPManager is using the default database (MSDE). I cannot uninstall OP Manager, because of some administrative issues. I know the default admin password is admin, but I changed it to something else, and now I want to reset it. Is there anyway to accomplish this task? Is there anyway to recover the default password? Please let me know. Thanks!
Some Issues
Hello: We have been testing OpManager and works good so far, few issues: 1) We have identified few devices that we dont want to monitor in servers category and for that we first unmanage them and then delete them, however after every restart of OpManager service they get discovered again in Server Category. Is there any way to delete them once for all? We have installed OpManager 5.5 on Windows 2003 Server. 2) For some of the HP plotters which are discovered correctly after some time an alarm is
Run OpManager in the background on Solaris
Hi, hope I don't sound stupid, but how can I run OpManager in the background on Solaris? Of course, I can start it with './StartOpManagerServer.sh &' which starts it and returns my prompt to me but when I log out I want it to keep running. I tried nohup but it still dies when I exit. Second, I tried creating a testfile, making it executable and nesting the ./StartOpManagerServer.sh & command within it. I nohup this one and run it in the background and works fine until I exit. What am I missing guys?

SNMP -- Windows Domain Controller trap with no variables
These traps are coming in from one of our domain controllers (newly configured to send traps to OpManager) No Trap Parser defined for received trap: Enterprise: .1.3.6.1.4.1.311.1.1.3.1.3 Generic Type: 4 Specific Type: 0 Variable Bindings: ... and from what I see in the MSFT-MIB All that I know of this oid, is that it identifies a domain controller. Why would the server keep sending opmanager this information? OpManager does see the device as a Windows 2000 server system. There are no problem Windows
OpManager gets Authentication Failure with Server 2003
We have been testing OpManager for some time now. The only problem we are running into is that OpManager gets an SNMP Authenitcation Error message when accessing windows server 2003 boxes. We have several servers here that we cannot pull information from that are running 2003. So this would be a problem that needs to be resolved with a patch or diagnosis. On the 2003 servers, the SNMP service is setup with the correct community strings and host ip address of OpManager. OpManager is also setup with

Cluster Server - Service monitoring -- Conditional service
I just have to keep asking, because the pressure on me to deliver it -- is great. For Clustered servers... I only need: - The creation of a "<Cluster Group>" Where I could add cluster server partners to. - The choice to actively monitor a service (or harddisk partition details/WMI mb used etc, on a clustered member server --based upon a condition--- The Condition would be ---Cluster Group Monitor: Monitor checks for the instance of this service on "any" one of the cluster member services, and monitors

My OpManager Server (Win XP Pro, dual 800Mhz processors, 1Gig RAM) crashed. Server was rebooted and the OpManager service restarted. Now when I attempt to login, I receive a Error in downloading client files from BE error. How can I correct this?
Some Issues
Good day everyone, I need some assistance in integrating the alerts of OpManager to Service Desk. Prior to the issues I was unable to set it up at all, but I got it working. When it began to work I kept getting a mesage appearing in Service Desk saying that my request had been created, the exact message is as follows: Title Your request has been created successfully with Request ID : 1244 Description Request ID : 1244 Date Created : 04-Apr-2005 19:03 DueBy Time : 04-Apr-2005 23:03 Title : Your request

Feature Request - Autorefresh of Alarm view
It would be nice to have the Alarms view refresh after a user defined period of time (eg: 60 seconds) so that you are always looking at an uptodate list of alarms. Keep up the good work.

Creating dummy devices for business view
Hi, We have a somewhat unique network. We own and manage the local devices and about 100 remote routers across the state. We can telnet, SNMP, and ping all those devices. The problem is with the devices in the middle. They are owned and managed by another state agency that is responsible for the data transport across the state. We can't ping, telnet or SNMP those middle devices. They will not add SNMP hooks for us. They do show up however, when I do a trace route. What I would like to do is build
Evaluating - increase max levels of monitors
Have an evaluation copy of OpManager installed. What is the difference between the two installation options 30 day trial and full version? Also the Memory Monitor has a ceiling of 30%. Can this value be change in the evaluation copy or do I need to purchase before I can get past these limitation(s)? If these settings can be change in the eval copy and you know how to please clue me in. Thank you for your repsonse and time. Kirk Shimek
Not showing TX bandwidth
One of our switches is not registering any TX bandwidth at the moment. It has 12Mb/s of RX bandwidth. MRTG is able to poll and get both RX and TX. I have rediscovered it and updated it manualy. Any Ideas?
Multiple Customers WANs
I want to be able to monitor multiple customers with different internet addresses from 1 location... but, some of these customers have from 10 - 30 devices each. I The problem is I put in a wan ip address as the device I want to monitor... then it seems to stop right there. I am guessing that OpManager has limitations where it can not go into a NAT`ed network. example: I am in City A trying to monitor City B so I Add Device 4.18.4.21 | Router WAN IP = 4.18.4.21 Lan IP = 192.168.100.1 | Server A =
Licensing?
Question on Licensing --- On the license agreement, the opmanager software can not be used for I.T. Monitoring providers as a service. Is there a special deal for this exclusion? Our company provides I.T. outsourcing services remotely. We maintain data small soho clients that can't afford full time people. We use monitors remotely manage and altert problems with the servers we maintain. We already use a competitor's monitoring system and would like to supplement additional functionality for our customers.
ManageEninge Failure on XP SP2
I have recently changed our Opmanager Win2k Pro box for a Dell PE650 running XP-Pro. The database migration was an easy enough task. Following this swap over (about a week later) The Manageengine has showed signs of failing. Now i get all manner of errors : Eventlog shows : The ManageEngine OpManager service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 2 time(s). The web client shows : The port opmanager needs to use is being used by another application. Clear this port and restart ManageEngine. (or

Strange/incorrect graph
Why is RX traffic only polled between 1:30 and 8:00 (see attached picture)? I haven't set up any particular intervals/dependencies and the network is up between the opmanager machine and the monitored router as according to the MRTG graph (after the red midnight line). I am running OpManager 5504, but it also happened with 5503. I am a Licensed user. Thanks. Oivind

Saving Monitor graphs
I am monitoring port traffic on several switches. When I click on the monitor (like Tx Traffic) I get a set of graphs for all of the ports. How can I save this set of graphs (in a pdf or similar file). Alternatively, How can I get the custom reports to show me statistics for all of the ports on a switch (vs one port per report) Thanks
No graph with Custom monitor
Hi, With Net-snmp for Unix/Linux, you can define some key in snmp to have your own informations through the private mib of net-snmp OID tree : .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I define a custom monitor with Opmanager OID : .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.8.1.101.18 MonitorName : testsnmp Display Name : Test SNMP Polling : 5 Units : test After minutes, hours, days, It's not possible to have a graph. Manual "Rediscover Now" needed after device type a
Hi, After adding a custum device type the already discoverd devices which are of the new type are not automatically updated. In fact I need to view every single device which is of the new type and "rediscover" them to force an update. Is this by design or is there a better way. The rediscover interval doesn't bring a solution either, it has passed several times. Tiny

Associate WMI to Windows Servers/Desktops
Hey everyone, I have a question about monitoring Window servers using WMI. I am currently running OpManager on a Linux box, and I cannot get and resource information CPU, Memory, etc. for any of my Windows devices. I have associated a username/password to my servers, but still nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions? TIA
Server with "virtual name" creation/discovery prob
I emailed Kevin the details of the issue today, but am guessing today may be his day off. anyone else I can address this to? In Summary - Disovered Device by HOSTNAME (DNS forward and reverse PTR for this name, also forward and reverse PTR for it's virtual name, NSLOOKUP returns the virtual name consistently) - I can't monitor via SNMP or WMI, and in fact the blue star symbol is not showing to indicate SNMP is communicating, but I can confirm via packet sniffer etc., that snmp traffic is going back
URL Monitoring
Another quick question for everyone. I have setup some a URL monitor, and have it pointed to www.yahoo.com for testing. I have noticed that the monitor generally report 300+ ms times, but when I ping www.yahoo.com, the return time is more like 30ms. I am missing something obvious here?? TIA
OpManager stops after sometime and does nothing
Few of OpManager customers have reported that OpManager stops after sometime and does nothing ie user will be able to login to the client but no status polling or data collection will be happenning. We were trying hard to reproduce this issue for the past one week but with less success. But now we were able to reproduce the issue with a database from customer's installation and we are analyzing the root cause of this issue. Once we fix the issue, we will be releasing a patch to resolve them. Kindly
IP tracking, server 2 switch tracking and APC tracking.
Does Service Desk Plus or Opmanager have something to track IP usage? IE server1 has IP 216.158.22.2, 216.157.145.2- 216.157.145.20 IE server2 has IP 216.158.22.3, 216.157.145.21- 216.157.145.40 ect ect. Also another thing that could be helpful is to be able to assign a server to a swtich port on the switchs in our racks. Last but not least is APC tracking, a LOT of people use the APC reboot power switchs. It would be nice to include APC manager in opmanager and be able to assign a server to a port

No data retrieved for interface utilisation
I'm running an eval version of OM, when monitoring a Cisco PIX 525 I sometimes loose the interface util during the day. The CPU util is reported correctly throughout the period. Strangly I loose the RX for the outside int and the TX for the inside! The grpahs tie up with the counters so it just looks as if OM isn't retrieving the interface data completely. I know the values are not zero. I've also attached the CPU graph so you can see there isn't a general SNMP problem. Here is the RX data (TX at
