Service won't start
The OpManager service won't start on our server. The service begins to start, but it hangs (see screen shot). Thanks, Carolyn
Vendor support (Vmware/Bluecoat)
I was wondering if support for the following solutions is on the roadmap: - Bluecoat SG appliance series - VMWare ESX 2.5/3.0 Both have a large install base, and would be a great addition to Opmanager. A nice to have would be Cisco Blade center module (CIGESM) support. Regards, Leon
Opmanager 7 discovers only the first device in range
Hello, I'm currently evaluation Opmanager 7. When I do a discovery over a class C subnet, it only correctly discovers the first device it finds. The rest is classified as "desktop". When I take a look at the "desktop" group, all devices have a blue star (snmp enabled) and are configured with the correct community. I've tried auto discovering the following devices: Cisco 3560 Cisco 2950 Cisco 3750 When I take a look at a switch which is classified as desktop, at the Sys Desc. I see the correct value's
names of siwtch interfaces on network views
Hi, I have OM 7.0 running on a trial, and the network dashboard tells me that FastEthernet 0/1 is currently down. super. what it doesn't tell me is which of the many switches this is on, and doesn't give me any option to go click on the name to go to it. in a similar vein, i have other's with descriptions shown as "*** link to comm..." and other names all nicely cut off just before they become useful. my gut reaction is to really really dislike this crude abbreviation of a port, whay isn't it all
monitoring and graphics additional SNMP tables
Hi, i'm looking at a 7.0 implementation starting with a trial, and i need the ability to track arbitrary snmp tables. the first example a load balancer we have at the heart of our network. it provides SNMP data about each VIP that the machine holds, largely similar to the standard enterprise interface tables, but there doesn't appear to be any real way to effectively track these values. ideally i'd like to be able to have a graph of throughputs for each vip on a stacked area graph, so i can break
Storing information from monitors in external file
Hi, I want to get results from some monitors, e.g. Disk Utilization, CPU Utilization and Memory Utilization, collected on particular machine, and store in external file, like .log or .csv. How can I do that? Used is OpManager 6.0 on Windows. Thanks in advance, Grzegorz
MSDE
Does OpManager 7 work with MSDE? I have installed MSDE with the default instance on my PC but the OpManager 7 installation says "Host name or port number is incorrect" when trying to configure the SQL server details. thanks Richard
How to Backup WinProbe?
HI, We're looking to find out what your recommended solution for backing up an op-manager probe is. Does it make the most sense for us to just back up the Database & ship out a new server in the event of a failure? Are there any other important files that we should be retaining to deal with device failure? Please let us know. -ANI
Wake On Lan Broadcast
Hi, Does the Wake On Lan utility in OpUtils do broadcast or unicast? I want to be able to go across subnets, but at the same time I don't want to open my network up all the way by allowing UDP port 7. Thank you for your help in advance. Thanks, Ashley
PASSWORD RESET
Hi. A client has deleted the admin account and added a new administrative user into a probe of our MSP system and has forgotten it. How can we reset/recover the password?
Different Mail Server for Specific Alerts
Hello! I am running OpManager 6 Build 6016. I need to be able to setup specific Alert Profiles to use a different Mail server than the rest of them. The reason for this is that I need to be able to setup alerts on my Mail server separately, since if the Mail server goes offline I won't get the message that way! I know there is a secondary mail server option, but this won't work as our mail server can go offline but still receive the message (it just won't get processed into a mailbox), so I'm guessing
OpManager 6 - Windows service down email alert.
Can anyone please help me with setting up an email alert when the Print Spooler on one of our Win 2003 servers terminates? 1) I can send a test email from OpManager. 2) I have setup a Notification Profile (email) "when any [selected...] Windows Service is down" and selected "Print Spooler". I manually stopped the Print Spooler service on my server and did not get a email notification. Is there more to it than this?
MapMaker Tips/Tricks
Does anyone know any ways in which the device-text for devices in the mapmaker tool can be customized? i.e. adjust position (left, right, top, bottom), change the color, or even supress the text all together. Any other mapmaker tips/tricks appreciated. TIA
Network Application Monitoring
Hi, I am currently looking at the beta product running under Debian 4.0(side note, I had a problem getting it up and running - support was brilliant). I have a requirement for some monitoring to be able to do more than just do TCP port polling. Included are: SMTP polling IMAP polling DNS (udp) Our current solution allows me to configure not only TCP port polling, but, TCP conversation polling (while in most case tcp port tests are sufficient there are scenarios when more detailed tests are required).
Feature Request!
In the performance monitor, I would like to choose an interface based on the port Alias or the port name, instead of the port index. Ex. select the name: Gi5/1 It would also be nice to constantly monitor a device, even after logging out, similar to the way the network monitor works. This way I can go back and see if there have been any errors/discards over the last week or month. Thanks!
Treshold colors in Opmanager availibility reports
Hi, Is it possible to change the color tresholds in the availibility reports? We would like to see availability below 99.6 in yellow, and below 98 in red. Thanks in advance. Laurence.
MSP Quick Communications question ....
Hey guys, Im evaluating the MSP product for our company ..... Quick question, If i have a primary console in my office and a remote console at a client site, who initiates the connection ? I'm thinking of security issues for our clients, and having a 24x7 connection between the sites, or just leaving a port open sounds a little spooky to the clients .... Basically, does the client end initate the connection or the primary console ? Cheers all J
Issue with Cisco switch reportin ports
According to the "Port Availability Report", I have a 48 port Cisco 3548XL switch that has 82 transient ports and 18 used ports. This would result in a 100 port switch. This switch is only 48 ports. This report also states I have a Cisco 296048T switch with 40 avail ports, 48 used ports, and 12 transient. This would also be a 100 port switch, which is actually 48 ports. Your Port Availability Report is entirely too inaccurate to be useful. Chris Schear
new install discovery
I recently downloaded the trial version of OpManager to test out on our network. I have it installed on one of our servers, and started a discovery. I let it sit over night, and it stayed at 0%. I have checked the credentials, and they are the correct user name/password that we use. Any ideas on what could possibly be wrong?
FeaturReq: Frequency & Period thresholds for trap proces
Two things that would add huge value for me in Opmanager are: 1.) Text based; string matching for SNMP trap processors. i.e. Some products issue traps for various conditions using only the EOID, without varbinds, making it impossible to distinguish between different events. i.e. Checkpoint. 2.) Also, a frequency and period capability to SNMP trap processors would be invaluable. i.e. - Threshold creation: Create the alarm if (x) occurences of the trap occur within the specified age timeout period

pop3 smtp testing services
I know in the past network monitoring tools watch ports and send data and get a response. But i've had times where opmanager says SMTP or POP is up? but it isn't really working right. I'm wondering what opmanager can do in this department? I need a tool that will actually test a pop3 user/mailbox, test and send a smtp message. I know what's up gold does it but I hate their front end. We currently use opmanager 6 and we are looking for a solution that has these features. Anyone out there using opmanager

Opmanager 7 - Various Problems
hi, Downloaded OM7 , which is very good but have a few frustrating problems. When reporting alarms from ports on our Catalyst 6500's it doesnt give a meaningful name or even the ifindex. So all ports are identfied as cat3/5 this is not all very useful. Trouble Jun 26,2007 07:16:47 AM Traffic Utilization for Port 10/100 utp ethernet (cat 3/5) is 77.83%, threshold value for this monitor is 30% Clear Jun 24,2007 06:07:53 AM Traffic Utilization for Port 10/100 utp ethernet (cat 3/5) is now back to normal,
Configure Interfaces - Manage vs Status Poll - OpManager 7
Hello, Can I please get a detailed description on the new item in OpManager 7 "Status Poll". My assumption was that I could manage an interface, but not have it alarm me with the status poll option. For example, I could collect traffic stats, but not get an alarm if it went down unless the "status poll" is checked. Thanks, Mike
Cant monitoring Cisco interfaces
Hello World ! I have some problems when monitoring Cisco interfaces. I can't have interfaces values from 3 of my 8 cisco's devices. 3 of them don't spool the interfaces. I tried to spool them manually but with no result. I tried to rediscover them and to redefine the community but those values still don't spool. The traffic Monitors are all the same in the 8 devices... I attached 2 screenshots to see in detail my problem. Can you help me? Thanks for answering
OpManager slow
Hi there, I am more often experiencing OpManager running very slowly at random intervals, as an example I could click on a link and it may take several minutes for that link to come up. The server that runs OpManager is as follows Dell Poweredge 750 Pentium D 3.2Ghz 2GB RAM Fujitsu SCSI 80GB hard drive partitioned into three The processor is dual-core and I notice that when OpManager is running slowly, mysqld-nt is 100% utilising one of the processors so it's obviously busy doing something. Is there
Installation v7
Hi We recently purchased our license for OpManager Premium, which was of course v6, however due to a delay on the server arriving late v7 is now available and uses Device not use licensing (a real negative from our perspective) However, the real question is can i just install v7 using my v6 license or do I have to install v6, and wait for the upgrade pack? MySQL problem, can't launch OpManager 7
I've downloaded, for evaluation purpose, OpManager 7, from this page I've installed it, and when I want to launch it, it begins to initialize then close itself. I've found this MySQL problem in wrapper.log: STATUS | wrapper | 2007/06/25 17:28:20 | Starting the ManageEngine OpManager service... Unable to activate a threshold
I'm walking through the How-To on "Disk Space Utilization Monitor for SNMP Devices" and every goes fine until I try to set the threshold level at the end. I click the edit symbol and get the options to enter my values. I hit save and it returns me to the Snapshot as requested. The page says that the graph was updated successfully, but the old values still show up in the list of Monitors. "60 minutes, "Not Enabled". I can't seem to get a threshold enabled though I seem to be getting the right responses.
GA Release Feedback - Few Problems
We've deployed OpManager 7 in our production environment with a degree of success, but not without considerable time and effort to complete. Here is what we ran into: 1. Interface is indeed much improved, although at times inconsistent. It'd make more sense moving Active Directory as additonal tabs rather than another whole block under the device details. 2. Interface is much slower than 6. We are running OpManager on a dual P3 1.4Ghz with 2 GB RAM windows 2003 box with only antivirus running on
Dis I/O Stats For AIX
Hello, I want to monitor the Disk I/O for my AIX servers with some additional parametrs to be monitored. Presently the monitors available on Appmanager checks for Transfers/sec, reads/sec and writes/sec only. I wanted to check also for percentage of time the physical disk was active (%tm_act). THis will give me a reading of the bandwidth utilization of the drive. Kindly let me know how I can get this metric on Appmanager. THanks, GOvind..
OpManager Automatic Monitoring Update Status Question
This is the 1st time we tried AdventNet OpManager Server Monitoring software. We have made the free edition to work, Though it does not automatically do the update status of the servers. We still have to click the link in the web page for an update status to be done. We have the snmp working because we see a star on the server list webpage. When we manually click the Update Status link, it can detect the server's failure and automatically send us a notification through email. And, the timeout refresh

Cusom WMI Monitors on OPmanager 7

Monitoring Using Dell PowerEdge MIBs
We have several Dell PowerEdge servers (mainly 2850's) and would like to monitor them using the MIBs available from Dell. I've loaded the Dell MIBs for PowerEdge v.5.2, A00 using the MIB Browser but a simple test of un-plugging one of the redundant power supplies did not generate an alarm. Does anyone have any experience monitoring Dell PowerEdge servers using Dell MIBs? Thanks in advance for any assistance! :D Cheers! :D Dave
