Is an agent upgrade included with the latest 121 hotfix?
I just installed the latest hotfix ( DC now shows build 90121 ). Do I need to upgrade the agents on workstations as well?
Renaming recently upgraded Desktop Central Server
We are stepping through a Desktop Central migration to a new server. I have all the steps to transition to the new server, but I need to rename it back to the original server, once it is migrated. This is because the DesktopCentral server also runs the ServiceDesk software and I can't change the URLs. Is there any documentation about changing the machine names on a Desktop Central server? Hi, Currently we're using desktop central in our LAN network. Now we also want to use desktop central for our WAN pc's to take remote control of those pc's (like teamviewer for example) Our WAN pc's are moving around the country a lot. For example: on monday they are connected at place X, next day place Y, next day at home, another they at the main office, the lan network. All versions of software title together
Can a search be done that puts all versions of the software title search together? For example if I search for Adobe Reader the output will come back with a line for each version of Adobe Reader. For some searches I might want all these results combined, for example a search for *Reader* would put all the workstations with Adobe Reader together. Ideally this would be under 'Assets' tab so that action could be taken on the results. If that isn't possible is there a pre-existing report that does
Overhead for turning on the user reporting
We are in an AD environment owned by our parent company. They have placed domain controllers in our physical location and all workstations are joined to that domain. I have Desktop Central set up, and agents deployed to the PCs in our organization and would like to utilize the User Logon reports, however Desktop Central does not have the ability to restrict its scanning of AD to our organization's OU. If I was to turn on the User Logon reporting, what does Desktop Central do to get that information?
Calculate amount of data in a particular folder
I am new to Desktop Central - please be kind. I am looking for a way to see how data is in a particular folder. We are considering changing the location of all user's My Documents folder to point to the user's home drive. Before we do we want to get an estimated amount of data that would be copied over. How can I get this information? thank you.
SNMP Trap for Desktop Central
Hi there, We have been noticing some performance issues with DesktopCentral recently. My personal theory is because we are using an instance of MSSQL 2008 on a seperate server, and the amount of data being fed through to the database may be large due to it scanning 700+ systems and that someone on my team may be trying to also generate the reports at the same time that this is occuring. Is there any way I can set an SNMP trap on the Desktop Central server that will report back statical information
Admin account not gone.
I recently deleted the "admin" account from the user admin section. Any it shows that it is gone. (see attached) but I can still login to the site with the admin account as a local user?? Is there any way of getting this t account to go away?
Prohibited Software List
I want to remove a piece of software that was added to the prohibited software list. When I look at the list I am not able to see that software name in the list any where. Where would it have gone and how do I see it again? Any help would be appreciated?
Update ppm installs, then uninstalls.
I have recently tried to update from version 90039 to version 90067 as I noticed during the logon process that an update was available. However, after downloading the ppm and following the update process I cannot get the update to install. No errors show and all the services start back up without any indication of what the problem is.
.PFX cert import into Desktop Central will not accept password
I have a 3rd party .pfx cert with known good password, as I've imported it several times elsewhere, including the opmanager product. Desktop Central is saying "invalid password" (private key backup password). So thinking my original password might be too complex, or too many characters, I re-exported the cert including private key and provided a simple 9 character password. Even the short no special character password is being rejected by Desktop Central on this .pfx cert backup. I'm very good
Error when submitting Help Desk request from client
When our users try to submit requests from the DC agent to our ServiceDesk software, they receive a "your request could not be sent" message. In the TO: address field it says Help Desk, but I never could find the way to specify the ServiceDesk email account. Is there a place that all of this gets set? I know that mail works on DC, because I get reports from it every day. Thanks, Dave
PostgreSQL to MS SQL Migration
Hi I've started a migration of our Desktop Central database from the supplied PostgreSQL database to MS SQL server. The process seems to have got stuck - it's been running now for about 4 hours, with no indication of it completing (it's a small installation - only managing around 140 desktop machines) Can you give an indication of how long this process should take, and what I can do if it's stuck? Hi, Is it possible to restrict access to the Desktop Central web console to internal LAN users only ? We don't have a requirement for it to be accessed outside of the internal LAN. We still need MDM to work Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can go about this ? Regards Jonathan

Is there a way to use Desktop Central to setup an application Data Source (ODBC) driver? My application needs one on each computer it runs on and in the past I had to go to each PC and manually set it up. The drive is a simple MSSQL database source.

DesktopCentral agent install on Windows 2000 Professional
Hello together, when trying to install the DC agent on a Windows 2000 Professional client via web UI there's a timeout error. When using the MSI packet on the client the installation is broken because of an interrupt: "The installer was interrupted before..." I know, Windows 2000 is very old but it's still supported by DC. So why I can't install the agent on this client? I don't have an Active Directory Environment. Thank You TheExpert
DC Build 90087 apache version
Hello, The newest DC build 90087 release notes stated that "Apache used in Desktop Central has been upgraded to version 2.4.10" But, I just checked using curl -i and it says it's still running Apache version 2.4.9. Was the upgrade to 2.4.10 held back?? Thanks!!

PC computer name changed to "VM-"<computer name> and DC Automatic removal question
Re-installation of DC on a PC results in DC reporting the PC as : "VM-"<computer name>. I have been testing uninstalling/reinstalling the DC Agent and changing workgroup names via DC. We have recently migrated our centralised Desktop Central Server to another server and this is now configured and working. However we are looking at transferring our 6000+ clients to this as well, they all use individual remote offices however is there an automated way to complete this without having to uninstall/reinstall the agent on each machine. Hi, I used to be able to easily create new technical assistance cases using the form that is linked from within the DC Support page. However, I am not able to create cases at the moment. Whenever I complete the form and hit the Submit button, the form simply reloads empty. There is no confirmation that the case submission was successful and I receive no case confirmation email. Hi A bit of an odd issue has crept into my desktop central system as of this morning. When I attempt to load DC the page does not load, tried both I.E. or Chrome. However if I am on the server which is running DC or I load DC through the service desk plus integration option while logon into SDP on a PC where it failed to load previously then it loads. When it fails the desktop central icon appears in the top left corner next to the URL and the URL reverts to "http://eukme:8020/configurations.do"

Desktop Central to 90003 from 80294 upgrade failing
Hi, I am trying to upgrade my version of Desktop Central to 90003 from 80294. However each time, this is what it does: Creates a backup Goes through the installation process Goes on to say uninstalling before the final message states uninstallation successful.
