Can somebody please help a complete newbie
Dear All, I stumbled across this program and though i'd hve a play with it as it is something I've been looking for, for a while. So, I have 3 machines, one that I run a few things on, like miRC bot, etc, that I class as my server, all my photos are on there, re-install programs etc. This server machine is on 24/7. So I had a play setting it up as a domain, with windows 2000 server installed on it, installed Desktop Central. Changed my main (not the server) machine to connect to the domain, rather
Agent won't install over network.
Dear All, For the life of me, I can't get the Agent to install. It has installed on the server (as I'm guessing that is because it is local) I keep getting installation failed, I thought it was to do with the user name and password. I've changed the settings with the DCOM. I've even tried the install with ZoneAlarm switched off? Any other tips or pointers I can try, settings I can check? Regards Paul.

Workstation issuses
I setup a test server with this software to check out the features of the product. I've since removed the software from the server but now I'm finding that my workstations are still trying to report to the non existent server. I didn't install any agents from the program - I just scanned the network and had it check inventory etc. I thought simply rebooting the workstations would be enough. I don't see anything running as a process on the workstations but yet I'm seeing the traffic from the workstation
unable to open zoho sheet
Hi Central Desk, I am new here. trying to use. Some time back I created a zoho sheet and I forget my password. So opened zoho with email ID. Now that file is not opening at all. Does the file is encripted with my password also ? in that case I can never open my file. Further in future also I cannot change my passwords. Is that a bug or what ? how to retrieve such file. error 1004
chaps just been playing with desktop central and set the scope up and pointed it to a small OU with 2 computers in. Then right at the end when its trying to install the agen is get a yellow screen with error 1004 at the top. The screen tells me to try again. :-( All passwords are correct - wonder if you could throw some light on this for me thanks

Hello, We tested during several weeks the HelpDesk+ software like Desktop Central on our network. The phase of test thus finished we removed this software of our servers. Errors render program useless
I continually get the error 'maximum number of clients reached' and then the connection closes. Not only is stressful, bt it makes your program the problem instead of part of the solution. I showed the salesman this when he did his demo, but he did not seem to care, this is a deal breaker, it mustwork or the program cannot remai. Scanning Issues

When publishing software for install - is there a way to specify the category? EG when you go to add new software in the add/remove software control panel there is a catgeory associated with "install from network". You can do this through AD GPO's, which I understand you currently run the install through. Although moving to your own agents' CSE in the future is mentioned in a different post, how will this change the software install processes?
Using DFS Links when deploying software

Having trouble installing DesktopCentral
Hi all, I'm trying to install DesktopCentral onto one of our domain controllers. The system is a Windows 2003 server w/ active directory installed. The install appears to have gone fine, but when I launch DesktopCentral server, and it pulls up IE for a client, all I get is a blank page in IE. I was wondering if anyone else ran into this type of problem before and what they did to fix it? -Tony

Hi, I'm looking to move desktop central to another server. Can anyone tell me whats involved in doing this? Do I need to reinstall a fresh copy on the new server. Service Pack 2 install
I am installing Service Pack 2 with no luck. I open UpdateManager and select the downloaded Service Pack and click Install. The installation seem to finish but on starting Desktop Central, the service pack has not been applied. I started UpdateManager again and the ServicePack was not listed as installed, so I tried installing it again with the same result. Am I doing something wrong ??? Gary C

Hello, I am wondering if I really did install the Agents on client PCs. I installed MED on a Domain server running Win2003 R2. I am testing with 5 client PCs on the domain running WinXP Pro. I had enabled COM on all PCs (as per your instructions) and was able to install the agents according to SoM. However, even though I can see the client PCs and their specs, I cannot see any changes being made. Install Software Status
Hi When I create a "Install Software Configuration" the Status always shows "Not available" regarless of whether the configuration deployed successfully or not. Is this a problem with our install? I can't imagine that there is no feedback on the deploy status. We need to know if the install completed. any help would be appreciated. Chris Jensen

I am trying to push the client out to pcs 1 OU at a time, but at least 50% of all machines are reporting back with one of the following messages:- - Agent installation failed due to Remote m/c DJK512J is down - Retrieving SystemDirectory from WMI data is failed I used to have the same type of problem when I used ServiceDesk in my previous job and was trying to scan assets. (very annoying)

Hi, Wonder if Desktop Central can be used to offer our customers assistance by taking over their desktop. In other words, when their PC is not in the same domain. We have customers across the country, and often need to help them with configuring e-mail clients, controlpanels, etc... Another question is if this works without altering anything to the firewall the customer has. Almost everytime we come across a case where we need to install remote access software, we need to tamper with firewalls....
