Can I install the agent in a computer with empty password?
I'm tryint to install this product in a long network, but the computers are in a workgroup with "empty" passwork, and Desktop Central tell me "Password cannot be empty" It's possible install without password?
wmiprvse high cpu
Hello, I've installed the desktop central agent on a windows 7 64bit hp laptop. The problem is that the wmiprvse takes about 25-30 % cpu usage. Svchost takes also 30% cpu, so pc is running slowly then. When I uninstall the agents, svchost and wmiprvse have no cpu usage. Any ideas? I'm running the latest builds of desktop central. Thx

I have been using DC8 and I find that it doesn't have many Microsoft Office patches listed to be installed. This is across Office 2010 & Office 2010 subscription (Office 365). Is there a section in the portal that I need to modify to enable the scanning & patching of Office products?

Good Day All, This morning I am testing patch deployment on two different machines. One inside and one outside of my network. Each time, I get an error message; Draft - Download Failed Read KB Now, I checked and I don't believe I am trying to download any java updates and the server has direct connectivity to the internet. WAN Agent/Direct Connection
Hello all, I have Desktop Central and Service Desk on a single server, that has direct access to the WAN. I'd love to be able to manage my machines on the WAN with the connect option for remote control. Right now, it appears I can manage items is install the LAN client on. When I try to control a machine outside the network, it act like its going to connect. Then goes to a waiting for screen. When I try connecting to a machine on the network here (laptop) with the WAN agent, I get the same behavior.
desktop central not deploying anymore software
hello, from this morning all the packages we generate are in status ready to apply but nothing is going to be applied. we are at the same time deploying patches and these are going to be deployed. instead the software deployment is completely not responsive also refreshing the agent. Restarted main desktop central server and also distribution servers. nothing seems informing about that. opened tickets, sent log and no answer yet...please answer asap
Direct Connection and machines on the WAN
Trying to get a better understanding on what I need to configure. I have my DEsktop Central/Service Desk machine, with direct access to the internet. I'd love to manage my machines out in the wild via Desktop Central. Are there any other service ports that needs to be open? What would be the best way to configure my agents to work from the WAN? (Scan and remote control) Please advise.
I have problems with connect to remote computers. Error Connection refused: connect
When try to connect many computers appears the menssage in the console ERROR Connection refused: connect. I don´t understand this message because not have help. And not have link to access to web help. You can explain the reason this message or problem. Because i cannot connect to remote computers. O you can tell me how to check log files. I am running DC 8 and have some issues: 1. When downloading the remote agent from my installation, it is coming down as v7? why isn't it v8 as well? 2. Remote agents that have not contacted the server in a while are reported as healthy when they are not 3. Unsure a software package is installed
Hi, I have been looking to see if there is a way to check if a software package is installed, and if it isn't to automatically install it. For example, when you add a new machine into Desktop Central the server scans the machine and inbstalls all software packages designated to always be installed. Remote desktop security problem
I have problem with Desktop Central 80022, after upgrade the option for final user to remote connection not asking to consent the user aprobe connection. I configured the desktop central to permanent ask to user before connect in the remote session. Right Now the options of the Desktop central not appear, I don´t know what happen. I have noticed it a few times that WSUS tells me that a particular computer is up to date but Desktop Central says that certain Microsoft updates are missing. An example would be patch id 97886 (osc2010-kb2583935-fullfile-x86-glb.exe). Vulnerability Database Update Fails (v 80024)
I recently installed Desktop Central 8 on my server and have been unable to update the vulnerability database successfully. Each time I attempt to download the database the first three process complete successfully and then the "Syncing security updates" process fails. I have reviewed logs and even changed the log setting to Debug and still have no indication of why the update fails. The system currently does not have a local firewall running and no traffic is being blocked by the gateway.

Correct Utilization for a .vbs script file on Pre-install
I'm trying to run a Pre-installation VB script file and everytime I deploy the software I get an error stating "Incorrect Function". I dont know if i have to specify a program to run the .VBS file or not. I have attached a screen of my package layout. thanks, nix_man
Error while updating from 80022 to 80025
Got a java error while trying to update. Restarted and tried to update to 80025 again with no luck. Get the following error in server.lock #Thu May 24 15:41:12 PDT 2012 buildnumber-db=80022 buildnumber-conf=80025 error-message=File system incompatible with DB. Might occur in case Deskop Central installation is overwritten by another incompatible version ? So what did I do wrong? Thanks Charles
Hotfix Install Procedure
When installing hotfixes the intructions always advise to; "Take a backup of the Desktop Central installation directory (<Install_Dir>/DesktopCentral_Server) to avoid any data loss during the upgrade process." This is an awfully long process on our server requiring gigabytes of data to be backed up each time even though the hotfixes are generally only around 35MB? Running build 80022 and suddenly getting dcconfig.exe errors on many machines when users login. Automated patch deployment says "In Progress" for these pc's but no patches appear to be getting installed on the affected machines.

Greetings! We have some reports of users not being able to shut down or restart while DC is working. No notification or any other visual clue. Automated Patch Deployment Not Creating Drafts or Patching
Hello all, I've run into a problem where the both of my automated patching jobs are not executing completely. For my servers, I've asked it to: Scan the Device Download the patches to the server and draft a Configuration (not execute on it) For several days now, only step one is completed. Error using Configurations File Folder Operation
Hi all, I am new to ManageEngine, but will be using it A LOT in my new role. I have been asked to delete a folder which is located in C:\Users\%username%\ (Windows 7) on all machines for all users in the domain. To my knowledge this requires using the File Folder Operation utility under Configurations in ME_Desktop.
