Domain name question
Hi to all and sorry for my english I have to manage two domain with equal Netbios name (mydomain.local and mydomain.internal). How i can use Desktop central on this situaction? In "Add domain" windows software need only netbios name but when i try to add second domain he say that already exist although he have different AD Domain name. Can anyone help me? error "The storage control block address is invalid
I am evaluating this product but when I run a patch scan or anything on my clients it fails with the reason "The storage control block address is invalid". Can anyone tell me what this referring to and how to fix it? Thanks, Eric esarratt@kcim.com

can I download other language of patches (e.g. traditional chinese, japanese) in patch management? because it was error when I deploy the english patch to traditional chinese XP
High CPU usage - close to 100%
I have noticed that Desktop Central uses a large amount of the processor on my server. It is an older machine without a lot of memory but runs other Java programs fine with just occasional spikes in Cpu usage. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way of setting a maximum % of CPU to stop it affecting other processes? thanks John
Desktop Sharing Chat Not Working
Does anyone know how to enable the chat feature in desktop sharing? Even though the feature is available on my toolbar, when I click Chat an error appears stating "Chat not accessible". This would be a great feature if it actually worked...

Patch Management Enhancement
Sometimes I need to manage a single computer so that I can force upgrades to it when I know a user is away. I would like to be able to view a computer's list of problems (such as in the Vulnerable System Report), then have a button or other option to directly update that PC from here, and see the progress of the update. I'm sure this is a pebkac, but I'm just getting started with Desktop Central... I setup a software install configuration, to force an XP sp3 install for all users on the domain (each user has their own computer, and just about all of them are running XP sp2). From what I understand, this should be executed for each user when they next login to the domain. I tested by logging off my system and then back on, and sure enough the status changed from "Ready to execute" to "In progress". When I check status
Desktop Central Alerts
I do not receive alerts when the systems are scanned via the schedule. I do receive the reports when I do a manual scan. I also get this on Service desk as well What can I do to fix this? Dan Uelman
Patch Management scan but not update
Hi to all and sorry for my english, Desktop Central 6. I try to manage one workstation (WXp Pro 64bit Sp2) and one server (W2003Std Sp1) to understand software capability. Agent is installed correctly (6.1.9); hardware and software inventory/history work fine. In Patch Management i have this issue: From Scan Systems (0/2) i check both 2 workstation and click to scan System button. Scanning in progress for about 10 seconds and therefore i receive "Patch scan has been completed successfully" message,

Configuration Status Not Updating
We have a software configuration that successfully pushes out but the status is not reflected in the status. Despite refreshing the status, it continues to say "ready to execute". We are using v6.0.0 build 60112.
Software Inventory Not Known
Viewing the software inventory list of computers, the Frequency of Use and Compliant Status columns show Not Known and Not Available. DTC has been running on these computers for two weeks now - I expect these columns to have data present. What might be wrong here? Build 60110. Regards, David.
Can't deploy from Vulnerability Summary
If I view a highly vulnerable system and look at its Vulnerability Summary, I can't deploy the missing\needed patches directly to that computer. If I view the Missing Patches for the entire SOM, I can deploy the patches but I either apply the Configuration to all computers, or have to manually sort those that are missing the patches. Surely it would be better to be able to deploy the missing patches to the exact computer viewed in the Vulnerability Summary? Can this feature be added? Regards, David.

Changing Deployment Times
Is it possible to change the default deployment time from 90 minutes to say 60 minutes?

I am new to this so I've probably missed something. I have no issues deploying the remote agent to any pc EXCEPT the desktop central server itself. am I correct in thinking that it should since it also has deployment needs? thanks.
Computers by age
I just ran a Computers by age report. The Year it provides on pc's I have just built in the last month or so are incorrect. Which leads me to think that all the listed entries are incorrect. Where is this report getting the information from?
serious issue's with agent deployment
we had a problem with the server that was running Desktop Central. Basically it died. Restoring it is not an options. so we downloaded DC again, installed our license. When we went to deploy the agent all but a handfull of PC's will not install the agent. The error message we get is "UNABLE TO GET AGENT STATUS, TIMED OUT" the first time we setup DC we got this on about 1/4 of our machines and just put the man hours in and installed the agent manually on the machines. this time the problem is with

is there anyway to change the session time to greater than 60mins. Sometime I have to step away and by the time I get back the interface resets.
application deployment failure
when an applications fails to deploy it tells me it failed. Is there anyway to find out the reason or a log I could look at to further troubleshoot the isse to why it failed. Thanks J
Error installing Remote Agent
I�m currently testing download central, but I noticed that when I install the agent on our 64bit Microsoft Exchange 2007 server I receive the following error: Application 1085 Userenv 21/04/2008 22:59:30 Error The Group Policy client-side extension Scripts failed to execute. problems removing computer from SOM
Hello All. I am having a problem removing several computers that are no longer active on the network, either dead, moved or retired. My problem has to do with when I go into SOM (scope of management) to remove the PC. I check it then move up to the drop down list and select remove computer but it will not remove them. It tells me that the client is still installed and to uninstall the client first. The problem is the computers are not accessible nor in a state where they can be powered on. How do
Excluding Software from reports?
How does one exclude software they don't wish to see from the reports? Installations such as Adobe Reader, Google Toobar etc etc are a nusance to see on the reports when your looking to fine tune your view of real software and compliancy. Anyway to exclude software you dont wish to see? I know its an option on some other asset software packages. Also, something else I have seen elsewhere in other packages... the ability to combine software into one. For instance I dont need to see "Adobe Acrobat

PC inventory issues
1. is there anyway to get DC to display networked printers that are installed on a PC. its seems to only display local printers. 2. While looking at the hardware inventory of a PC, specifically the "network adapters" portion I cam across a couple of issues. A. If the client has DHCP enabled it correctly shows the IP address but under "DHCPenabled" is has "Disabled". it is like this for everyone of my PC's. B. If the client has a statically assigned IP address it does not display anything for for
max number of returns cap'd at 100
the limit on some pages is 25 and on other the max is 100. Is there anyway to to set that to the max number of returnable items. For instance. If I want to install patches on a machine and there are 127 of them I must create a patch deployment for the first 100 and after that finishes for the second 27. I have tried to click the first 100 and then go to the next page and select the remaining 27 but Desktop Central will not remember the initial selection of 100. this can be and has presented itself
XP Sp3
Desktop Central does not seem to be able to do a patch scan on machines running XP with SP3. I do see this in the debug log: 008-04-16 15:57:06 error: could not parse file file.xml 2008-04-16 15:57:06 Failed to load the data resources from xml file (null) Any ideas?

Software Inventory Clutter
I am evaluating the product for use on our 400+ PC network. I have only scanning the software on one server and one PC and have 139 software entries. Obviously I don't have this much software installed and the system is picking up all the components, sub programs and support programs. Is there anyway to updated to the current released builds that are available as downloads if you want to install a fresh copy or a new install. there has been several updates since 60106 and I do not see any ppm files and since I do not want to remove and reinstall the product.
system manufacture and model
Just a question. We have a bunch of HP Proliant DL140's. We also use ServiceDesk Plus for Help desk etc.... In the assets portion of SDP it correctly identifies the machine as a HP Proliant DL140 but in Desktop Central it only tells me its a rack mount chassis and is built by HP. It does this with all PC/servers. is there anyway to make Desktop Central act more like SDP in this regard. Just a nice to have, by no means a show stopper.
