Just a question. We have a bunch of HP Proliant DL140's. We also use ServiceDesk Plus for Help desk etc.... In the assets portion of SDP it correctly identifies the machine as a HP Proliant DL140 but in Desktop Central it only tells me its a rack mount chassis and is built by HP. It does this with all PC/servers. is there anyway to make Desktop Central act more like SDP in this regard. Just a nice to have, by no means a show stopper.
Issues adding IP Printers
I'm attempting to create and deploy a config to add an IP printer to clients. I've created the config and it will execute, but fails with "Invalid Handle" error message. I've pasted the section of the user.log from the client pc below. I need to deploy 60 printers in this fashion, so I need to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you. Desktop Sharing
The current version of desktop sharing is slightly faster but it lacks the VLC-like features it once had prior to our hotfix update, such as sending ctrl-alt-del and other remote keyboard features. We are using build 60109. Also, if I hide the desktop sharing toolbar, I don't know how to get it back. I couldn't find any instructions in the help documentation. After hiding the toolbar, I have no way of disconnecting the session (alt+f4 fails, ctrl+q fails, esc fails). Is there a keyboard shortcut
Error Log
I am testing out Desktop Central to install a program called GriGlyCal. It is an exe install with several other files in the directory and is sitting in a shared directory on a server. I cannot seem to get this program to install using Desktop Central. All I get is Executed (Failed). My install test for Acrobat, Office & Outlook have worked so it cannot be anything to do with firewalls etc. I would like to know the following: 1) How can I find out why it is failing - is there a log file I can look
Pushing out updates
I am having some problems with some machines updating correctly. I have followed the FAQ and knowledge base articles about getting updates to run but on these systems I just cannot. the current process to get things to install immediatelly is for instance, I have a group of machines, I setup an update task to roll out some windows updates. I run GPUPDATE to hasten the process. for most of my machines this does not work. is there any other way to speed up this process. sometimes I have to let a machine
auto install
was looking at desktop central for the purpose of auto install (*.exe mainly) however note that it can't be done unless there is no user intervention required in the setup process (otherwise there can be no logon, i tried!) - is there a solution to this?? - i've looked at almeza multiset to try and solve the issue but thought i should ask anyway... How can I rename an active configuration without having to re-deploy and losing the installation history?
Computer Name Change
If a computer name is changed, DC6 does not requery the managed OU in the SoM and update the computer name. For example, if test1 is currently in the SoM but I rename the computer to test2, the SoM list reflects the old name. This is an issue when I attempt to push out the agent install to an old computer name. It fails because the computer name no longer exists.
Cannot seem to get things installed

is there any plans to add any type of imaging functionality. It would complete the package in my opinion as a desktop management suite.
Desktop Remote Control
Does anyone else have any issues with using the remote control client. I can use it but it is exceptionally slow. Everything seemed as it installed correctly. I just cannot figure it out. Support - are there any know issues with slowness or any tweaks to fix it. an example would be if I click on the start button in about 3 -4 seconds I see the it pop up on the screen. I doubt this is normal, well at least I hope it is. thanks
Software Install Failed - The handle is invalid
I am attempting to install Office 2007 SP1 to our office, but I get an error that states: The handle is invalid. There is no further information available and I have changes the command from /quiet to /q. I'm not sure if that is the problem or not, but I'm at a loss as to how to further troubleshoot the problem. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks
serious issues
When I do a sytem scan or a push out of patches or push out of the client, we have hundreds of computers that end up having multiple problems. -not enough memory or failed to intialize buffer pool. User cannot load profile. We usually end up hard turning off and on sometimes as many as 6 times to get the machine to work. Causing more man power, overtime. I am afraid to use this product. Another feature request, in the prohibited software reports list, it lists each installation of the prohibited software separately, but does not list the computer name. For instance, if I have yahoo toolbar on 5 machines, it lists yahoo toolbar 5 times all with the exact information, showing it on 5 machines each time!? Groups functionality
Seems like the Custom groups functionality is kind of an afterthought. Would really like the ability in inventory to filter by custom groups, scan by custom groups, reports by custom groups,etc. I guess I am wondering what custom groups is suppose to do for us?

getting 2 errors with storage in the description while scanning: 1. 3 machines are saying "Storage control block address is invalid" 2. and 1 machine that says "not enough storage is available to process the command"... it has plenty of hard drive space
Free Windows Tools doesnt let me add more pcs
I'm using Desktop Central Wake On LAN Tool, from Free Tool Launcher and I can't add a sixth machine to the Wake up list, the software will just crash with an error telling me it found a problem and needs to close. My other machines respond perfectly to this software, either waking up or turning off. They are all in a domain with a 255.0.0.0 Mask. If I add that sixth computer, even if fictional, with that mask, it will crash, otherwise it will add it. We are using Free Windows Tools 1.2 on a P4 3.0Ghz

Software inventory issue with Acrobat
I'm slowly working through the issues/gotchas in your Desktop Central software despite the underwhelming documentation. I'm seeing one issue that I can't seem to resolve. In the software inventory, it seems to be keeping track of the software OK with one exception. For some reason it is showing each install of Adobe Acrobat as a separate software. So instead of showing 5 copies of Acrobat, it shows 5 separate lines of Acrobat installed once each. Please remedy and/or provide a workaround. I've attached

Problem - can't copy or install on client computer
Hello, I have some problem's with desktop central. When I've insalled it on Win 2003 Server and as a client I had WinXP as a virtual system on VmWare every thing was ok. I could install software, copy files, use Remote Desktop with this client. Next test was in real system, I use WinXP prof. computer as a serwer for Desktop Central and laptop with XP prof. as a client. Now there are some strange poblems. Can't add computer to manage
I get this message when trying to download msi files and patch so I can open my Excel program. I am missing the proplus.msi file. The message says- No computer is being managed by desktop central. When I try to add my computer it asks for a domain name. I have no idea what to put in there. I tried my name and my aol signon but that didn't work. Lynn

You gave instructions to someone about sending you a log and here are your instructions- the only thing is that there is NO "Support File" to select once you click on contact us. "You can create the logs from Support Tab - Contact Us - Support File. This will automatically zip and upload the logs.

configuration "yet to apply"
I set up a configuration to set the IE proxy for users belonging in specific group. I deploy the configuration successfully,and when I display the status of the configuration I got the view about 3 users with the status "yet to apply". I logout and login in order to force the application of the configuration, but the result in IE is not changed as expected and the status is always the same. What should I do in order to force the configuration in IE. I use the flag "remove" the user configuration.

issue in adding domain
Hi... I have been working with trial version of Desktop central for the past two days. I am facing a issue in adding a domain. I am getting an error stating that " Validation Failed" even after giving the correct credentials. I have installed the Desktop Central in windows 2003 server which by its own is having a domain.
