Can I Prevent requestors from selecting Assets from a site that they do not belong to?
The Asset selector on an Incident Template allows the requestors to view and select an Asset from any Sites. (this is part of the 'Requestors' details ). This means, a requestor associated with the London site, is able to see (and select) all the assets in Service Desk plus – including assets assigned to a different site (e.g. Tokyo). The form defaults to my requestors site (eg London) - but I don't appear to be able to hide other sites - or even hide the asset selector? Is there a way to prevent
Database operations - assign computer to user
Hi, In our enterprise, computer is assigned to user who in event of any damage is responsible for it. the computer is leased to user based on paper agreement, signed agreement is scanned and attached to asset in service desk. what i would like to do: 1. assign assets to user via database. 2. attach scanned agreement to asset via database. Software Assett Grouping
We are running Service Desk Plus version 9.0 Build 9044 We have setup the asset scan agent and so our Asset database now has most of our PC's and all of their software. We have a large amount of software that isn't applications as such, but components of software suites. IE. Microsoft Office has a large number of sub-components that are picked up. Group of major and minor versions
How do I do this in ServiceDesk Plus? We have both Desktop Central and ServiceDesk+, but do the software inventory tracking and categorization in ServiceDesk. I know you can create software suites in SD+ but that seems different to me then different users that might have the original version rather than a later minor version.
Probe Still Says yet to Scan
Hello, I have installed the probe on my windows 8 laptop. I have registered it and set it to do a domain and a network scan. For the domain, what is the username format that should be used? Either way. The probe says that its checking in but when I schedule it to scan nothing happens. The network scan and the domain scan have the little exclamation mark that says "yet to scan"
Enforce Asset Discovery without overwrite
I have a set of assembled computers (non OEM) over AD. I configured agent, network and AD scans, however, each time, some computers are overwritten because most of computers I have are assembled with no service tag or ID. How can I overcome this and successfully input all possible computers without overwriting existing ones? Another inquiry goes for network printers, how can I move a scanned asset from Workstation to printers category?
Maxed out asset licence count without showing assets
We recently increased our asset licence count to 550 and have used up slightly over 235 of these, however the "About" tab shows 546 licences have been used? Where did these licences go? Regards, Wayne
How is it determined if a workstation is a laptop or desktop?
I see the examples of reports that can be run to determine laptops vs. desktops and to list all laptops. But where it is determined if a workstation is a laptop or desktop? And if we see something marked incorrectly is there a place that can be changed? Thank you.
Asset status localization problem
Hi, We have SD+ 9.0.9029 setup on PostgreSQL - Enterprise license. We use Polish language. We have problem with asset status localization - "In Store/In Use etc.". It is displayed in English even if Polish language is chosen in user interface. I've checked the translation in ApplicationResources_pl.properties file and it is present (sdp.asset.resourcestate.XXX values) but not used by the system. How can I find the source of the problem and repair it ? Regards Lukasz

Dear Employee, I have made new custom groups under assets, I was wondering I could change the column because I wanted to see the description of the asset but this was not an option. Assets-Creating Incidents/No Asset Available
Testing asset association with creating an incident. My goal would be when help desk tech creates an incident, performs a look-up of a requester; the Asset section auto populates with the asset information. Instead it shows "No Asset Available" (see attached) I created a relationship with the asset and the Requester in Assets. Any suggestion on why this field does not auto-populate?
Agent Configuration
Hi, We have deployed the asset agent to the computers with wrong information in the agent configuration. Now we replaced the ManageEngineAssetExplorerAgent.msi and only the new computers with the new agent are getting scanned at boot. Tracking hosted application licenses
We are trying out ServiceDesk Plus so we are new to the software and its features. Putting the software through its paces I am trying to track our licenses for cloud based applications. Is anyone out there doing this? I see where I can add a contract for our hosted applications provider. It seems I can add the the number of licenses/users for the application via a 'License Agreement' and adding a 'Software License', but I can't seem to allocate those licenses to named users. Is that not possible

How to account for OEM windows licensing
The asset auto discover picks up the windows license key automatically. This is great except for that it also picks up the OEM License key for HP. HP seems to always use the same key regardless of what the sticker on the bottom indicates. As a result it throws my compliance reports off in the dashboard. I tried adding it as a volume key but unless I constantly go in there and update it every time I get a new machine it will be "under-utilized", or apply the key to machines that have been activated
Asset scanning improvement
Would it ever be likely you would change the way the asset scan works from being agent based to being service based for windows machines? We find the deployment of the agent is not always great via GPO, likewise the scan at boot up does not always report back to the helpdesk in a timely manner. We have created a logon script than forces the manual scan and then copies the xml file back to the helpdesk. We then have to import these xml files manually. Assets that Haven't Been Sucessfully Scanned in Over a Year
I am trying to identify assets in Service Desk that haven't been successfully scanned in the last year. I am trying to find old devices that I would like to remove from the system so that I am not attempting to scan those machines and they won't consume licensing. Is there a way to do this? I can see workstations that haven't been successfully scanned in the last 30 days but I can't change that value. Any help would be appreciated.
"Could not scan the disposed and expired asset" on non-existing asset
Trying to scan a workstation to add but I'm getting the error: "Could not scan the disposed and expired asset". This asset isn't searchable and doesn't appear in the list of disposed or expired machines.

Location Column in Asset View
Hello, I am wondering if an extra column in asset view could be added for "Location". We have multiple computers at some of our sites, and the way I know which computer is which is by using the Location field (maintenance, manager, etc.). SD+ asset serial number keeps flipping between two values
Running SD+ 8.2.0 Build 8216 and Agent 1.0.15 that came with it. We have one system that has a hard drive that the serial number keeps flipping between two values. We've confirmed that the user is NOT removing the hard drive and popping in another. We've also confirmed there is no duplicate IP or host with the same name. Running a report on non-it assets
Hi, I would like to be able to run a report on non-it assets and show all of the respective detail/fields. Whilst I can run a basic report it doesn't show all of the fields that are assigned to the non-it assets. Please can you advise how this can be done. Thanks Graham
SNMP scan failing
Have enabled printers with SNMP with read access with credentials. When we choose to scan asset it is failing - cannot connect to SNMP Agent or credential is not configured. It is inventoring but doesn't function to place in correct asset location as a printer for example. Have put in creditials and tried scanning and it still fails. What needs to be changed in order for this to accept the creditials. Is there a configuration in the printer settings that needs to be opened? Thanks, Gayla Alderette
Apply Asset Field to Incident Template
In our environment the majority of our assets are tied to Departments and not Users. We would like to add the Asset field to an Incident Template so that when an Incident Request is entered the user can select the asset associated with the request. Is this possible? I know that after an Incident Ticket is created we can edit an Asset field at the bottom of the ticket summary but I would like to be able to specify the asset at the time of ticket creation. Asset combobox in new request form

I cannot edit the leased asset notification message.
I would like to be able to edit the leased asset notification message sent to requester. The message as-is is not formatted very nicely, and there are multiple spacing issues. History of Assets no longer displaying "Site"

Auto-assing workstation
We have several workstation that we are going to scann. What is the best & quickest way to assign the workstations to users \ Requesters? Other that going manually through every workstation and selectg the state to "In Use" and a user \requester. I remember that there is some kind of feature to auto-assing the last logged in user but could not find the setting. Or info how it works. Regs lakend
Available Assets Re-size window issue & missing column view edit 8207
We have an issue moving from 8121 to 8207 as it appears the edit column view option is now missing from the asset add As you can see in (figure 1) build 8121 the option is available 8.1.0 Build 8121 (Figure 1) And as you can see in (figure 2) build 8207 that option is missing.
