Importing from Users from AD
When I try to import users, it sees them all, (111) but it fails, any ideas? I've tried about 5 times, and it has worked in the past. JP

6509 problems
Hi Apologies if this is a repost but I�ve been unable to find anything which can help. I have a number of 6509's which i would like to monitor with netflow. I've configured one as a test (6509, sup720, ios ver: 12.2(17d)SXB5). Windows 2000 Server
My 2000 servers are constantly getting picked up by OpManager as desktops. I want to modify the opmanager_categoryinfo.xml file to pick up 2000 server as a server device type. Does any one know what the OID is for 2000 server, or if it is the same as 2000 profesional, how can I get OpManager to pick it up as a server.
Cisco PIX Log format?
Currently we are testing using just the syslog, not the emblem format. Yesterday we had reported 1.5GB of outgoing FTP traffic when in fact this was an incoming transfer. Today as well as all last week FA is reporting FTP outgoing traffic, yet these ports are blocked at the firewall as well as the service is shut down. So I have to question then this traffic. I have looked at the logs and see nowhere near that amout of traffic for the entire day. Is anyone else getting such inaccurate reports with
Traffic IN - Traffic OUT
Hi all, Great software but, I am currently monitoring a Cisco PIX firewall, and all is working fine (except vpn + url logging). My first general question is what the "Traffic IN" and "Traffic OUT" mean on the live report page. My PIX is listed there as "192.168.1.1" which you can change. Does for example "Traffic OUT" mean traffic flowing out of the 192.168.1.1 (LAN) interface, which means flowing data to my internal clients? Or does it mean (which I would hope for ;) traffic flowing out of my external
Linking in Business Views
Regarding the "drawing of links" between devices, it seems a little tedious, plus I've found that it's only cosmetic (unless I am wrong). Would it benefit the users if a "Parent" could be defined from a list of existing hosts? This would not only satisfy the "alert only if Parent is active" condition but also automatically connecting devices in an dynamically generated map or maps. Thoughts? Ryan
Outgoing mail
There is no problem for me to configure incomming mail, but when I tried to E-mail the requester, it fails.I got Sending notification failed. I read that the i must turn off authentication in the mailserver, is full of risks to do this. I read in the forum that" You can configure your mail server to disable authentication for the mails sent from SD+ server." Where I can specify this, we are running exchange 2003? Best Regards Daniel
New Feature Release
We have started to evalute your product for possible purchase. Is the new release we are reading about still on track for EOF September? Some of the features listed are answers to questions that we are having. I.E - email customization. Will there be a upgrade path from the current build we downloaded 4108? A firm date on this would help solidfy our decision.

BUG: Can't take off hold status
We have discovered a bug in 4108: We use the hold status to designate tickets where we have provided info to the client, but are awaiting their response, etc. What we have noticed is that we are unable to take tickets off of hold! We are still testing the consistency of this, but we have plenty that are showing 'on-hold', even though the history shows it being taken off hold. We would obviously like to see this fixed ASAP. We would also like to see some way to place a ticket on hold automatically

Love the IP Management module, however, does anyone know of any settings to ensure I cover the folks who aren't logged in but have a valid IP address if there's such a thing? Thanks, Jim
Service Desk + hangs on startup
Hello I am currently evaluating service desk and everything so far has been great! Love the product. The power was cycled on the SD server without properly closing down service desk. The service desk starts as normal until it gets to the application layer starting..... and from there the SD hangs. I am able to shut down the SD application. I do have a backup from a few days ago however I would like to get the system back to its original state. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks
Additional Request Fields _ can they be made mandatory?
I have my ServiceDesk Plus system set up so that only supervisors can submit requests via the web interface. In order to make this work, I have set up Additional Request Details fields for name of user needing assistance, office, phone, and system ID. Unfortunately my supervisors habitually leave out this information. Is there a way to make the Additional Request Details MANDATORY fields that must be filled out for all web-based service requests? ServiceDesk Team, I may have posted this somewhere else but the ability to assign certain requesters (or multiple requesters) to Groups and filter all requests by requesters and/or Groups is incredibly important to myself and would make your software so much more powerful for users with multiple pages of requests. I am testing the new Exchange functionality in Opmanager 5.6 and everything appears to be working correctly except that the statistics in the Dashboard show N/A. It has looked the same for the past several days. How do I allow it to show the current statistics?

Hello all, I would like to know if it's possible to add line in the report view. for example, i would like to add this report in category server ( in the web client, I clik on Report and this is the first table ) "Servers by the Response time" using Response time graph or just the data of each servers. fwanalyzer - windows or linux
would like to know which platform is better for fwanalyzer - I read in other discussion groups that wmi works for opmanager and servicedesk if installed on windows servers - are they any such limitations with fwanalyzer? Is it better on linux vs windows? how many products of adventnet can run on same box? If I want opmanager, servicedesk, fwanalyzer and eventloganalyzer - can I run on the same machine?

snort is able to log via syslog - are you able to support syslog? what do you need to see output of syslog before determining if you can support this format?
Scheduled Shutdown and Restart of Service Desk Plus
Using Windows 2003 Server, I have setup scheduled tasks to shutdown and restart Service Desk Plus using the shutdown.bat and run.bat commands in the /bin directory. When I run the task, it just sits on "running" and does not do anything. Is there a different batch file I should use, or do I need to add some switches after the batch file? Thanks
How does the Run command function work
I am trying to send an SMS when an alert occurs using a tool called SMSSend.exe. When I execute this tool from the command line it works fine but when OpManager starts it, it doens't work I can see that it is being started but the program doesn't work. Maybe it has something to do with the way OpManager starts that command??

No DATE: header in SDP emails
Hi, I am currently testing SDP for use in our company. I notice that any emails send out from SDP have no date: header field. Consequently, all emails recieved by my email client (Thunderbird) show a date of 01/01/1970 ! Obviously this is a problem for users who request support via email as the response from SDP will always come back with 01/01/1970 as the date! Is there any way to include the date field in the email header going out from SDP ?

existing version of mysql
hi, i'm evaluating EventLog, and i need to able to run it on an existing version of mysql. how can i do this? i've tried changing the port in mysql-ds.xml to the port of the existing one. but when i start it up, it still tries to start up its own copy of mysql rather than using the existing one. --alex

Source, Destination and Conversation tabs not working?
Hello, we just started evaluating your product for major cable operator but one problems occurred right on the begining of testing - clicking on tabs "Source" or "Destination" or "Conversation" does nothing, browser just sit and wait for data. Traffic and Application tabs are OK, only "Unknown protocols" (and icon next to TCP App) also displays nothing. Feature Request - Telnet from Dashboard
I would like to be able to click on the 'RouterIP' on the Dashboard and open a separate telnet session to that router. It would allow better management if you are overseeing quite a few devices (which we are). Since NFA pulls the IP from the router anyway I would hope that it wouldn't require major changes to make the IP clickable for Telnet (or possibly Web access if options were in setup. Thanks.
