Trouble starting op-manager
Hello, I am in the process of evaluating the free version of OP-Manager. I installed Op-manager as per the instruction. Then i used the StartOpManagerServer.sh I also made sure that i do a a+g access control. Neither my web-client nor my regular client using StartOpManagerClient.sh seem to work. Web-Client: It does not go beyond giving me the login window, then it takes me to discovery wizard and then once i click finish, it takes me back to login window. every things works great, but i cant really monitoring the traffic of the netword devices... smnp should be correctly configured and Adminstrator - Login is also set! What i have to do to monitor the network interfaces?
Monitoring Cisco temperature
Hi, I'm trying to monitor the intake temperature on my Cisco 3845 routers. I'm using the inbuilt vendor-specific monitor to do this, and it's querying the following OID: .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1 I can query this with the MIB browser (I have CISCO-ENVMON-MIB loaded), and I can even graph it with MRTG. However, there are no graphs in OpManager! When I open the graph window, it just says "NA" - nothing else! Hope you can help, alec
URL and Web server
Hi, We are still busy to test OpManager and our last day is coming......... We monitor Web Servers. Good But all of our web services ( URL ) refers to a virtual IP address. With this and a auto-discover, we monitor each URL separately. If the physical server goes down, we have X servers which go down... But, we can, with a server monitored, add an url to check. Like that, If the server goes down, all URL aren't monitored anymore. With the first method ( auto-discover ) we can add all URL servers
Authentication Errors in Build 5504
I am experiencing this same Authentication Error issue in the latest build (5504), that was discussed in a thread earlier (and was fixed using AdventNet_ManageEngine_OpManager_5_SP-0_6_2.ppm ). The behaviour and test results are exactly the same ... it behaves like the SNMP community string 'public' is hard wired into the code somewhere. Any suggestions ... what has changed about connection to the MySQL database from the earlier release, I am no longer able to connect as previously, would you provide

Can default graph be changed to line from area?
I would much prefer the default graph behaviour to be line instead of area graphs. Any way to change this? Thanks
Alarm on SNMP Get Failure
I have some unix servers running a custom application. They also have a custom snmp agent running locally on the machine. My problem is that if the agent is not running, OpManager shows the status as green although it may be having an issue. Is it possible that in a future release, you can configure OpManager to alarm if an snmp get fails? Thanks, Jeremy
False Threshold Notification
I am getting a threshold rule violation for lack of free disk space. When I go and check the resource threshold rules for the device in question, I don't have the threshold specified that opmanager is squaking about. This is really annoying, any ideas?
OpMnager error on startup and missing interface data
Hi folks, I have recently install OpManager 5.5 build 5504 on Fedora Core 3 (Personal Desktop installation) to monitor couple devices included one Cisco 2621 IOS ver 12.0. First, the OpManager will not start as service according to the note form this forum and the file attached. It shows error message "execvp no such file or directory" when Starting OpManager service. Ok, somehow my post into the snmp group got missed so I had to demo this software to my network team without the ability of knowing if chassis snmp alarms really worked or not. We are planning to purchase your software here in the next couple of weeks, but before I cut a PO I would like some step by step instructions on adding and testing 3rd party mibs. ie from Cisco, Extreme, Dell etc. not just adding them into the mib folder but also how to test the snmp alarms from a cisco catalyst 6513, or 6509

Hi, When i enter ps -ax there is a lot and i say a lot of sshd: user [priv] [sshd <defunct>] active on a linux HR3 server that being monitor with ssh. anyone come across this and can you stop it Thanks Kevin
Operationally down
OpManager 5.5 discovered the swith successfully using SNMP, but the interfaces status in the switch shows operationally down even though the Interface is up. Where as i am able to see the Interface up in the Port Mapper.[list=]

Monitoring different Volumes
If a server has multiple volumes (c:/, D:/, F:/) How do you monitor them with OPmanager? Particularly Disk Utilization, Free GB, Used GB. Thanks.
Machine names
Sometimes when I add a new device, usually linux, the device name shows up as the IP address and not the system name. It would not be a big deal to just change it except that the notification are sent with the ip and not the device name, and I have over 200 servers. Is there a fix for this? Doug
Opmanager can't find device with telnet port open
Hi all, I need your help How to scan network but the Router i want to scan can't be ping but port telnet is open but opmanager can't not find the device but i can telnet that device. SNMP Ports setting for OpManager and Cisco / Dell Equipment
You may disregard my last lengthy email as I think I figured out part of the problem. By default OpManager uses SNMP Port 161, my cisco equipment uses port 162 for SNMP traps. Question: In OpManager which SNMP port number should be set and in which setting? ie Do I need to change the snmp port number for each individual device in OpManager to use 162, or should I just add a second UDP logging port to point to 161 on my cisco equipment: example: snmp-server host <Op-Manager IP> <community string ro>
OpManager for multiple sites
I am evaluating using OpManager and would like to know if it supports multiple sites in one interface. We have locations in multiple parts of the world and would like in some cases to use one NOC for control of mutiple sites. Is there anyway to limit the views of a user to only specific IP addresses or domains?
Question regarding OpManager and modems.
Is there a way to configure opmanager to notify pagers or cell phones in the event that the primary link to the internet or mail server goes down? I'm looking for a way to alert sysadmins in case we lose our links to the internet, or if our mail goes down. Since I currently have op manager to notify via email, if either of those two go down... well no alerts are going out. I know some products like Spectrum will dial up to a isp and send a email that way, so I'm just curious if the same features
OpManager stops polling every 24 hours
OpManager stops polling interfaces and all charts and graphs disappear after about 24 hours of running. I must stop and restart the service to get the graphs back. (I have attached the log files to this post.) Is there anyway to correct this?

i use discovery network 202.158.22.228/30 but i don't found any device but when i ping 202.158.22.230 is reply and when use telnet to those ip is ok what is the problem?? Thx for your help
Free Disk Space
I want to monitor freed disk space in MB and GB on a per server basis. I set up the rule on the first server but everytime I want to add the Free Disk Space in GB to another server and have it trigger at a different value than the server before OM tells me it will change this threshold globally, is there a way around this?

Cisco Chassis Alarms
In noticing the various snmp alarms that come pre-canned with OpManager, is there a way to add additional MIB alarms. Ie The Cisco Chassis alarm? I have a 6509 layer 3 switch that is generating a chassis alarm for a bad redundant power supply. I would like to monitor that plus all the other chassis based alarms. In additiion, I will assume that whatever solution provided here will also work for the server hardware for DELL poweredge servers? THanks in Advance
Alarms - Event History - Cropping
Hello, Is it just me, or is the event history cropped to about 200 characers? I have some annoying SMTP-related alarms from the router, but I cannot see the entire message. I can only see the entire message for the newest message. Is it possible to get the entire message from messages in the history? Great program, by the way. Best regards, Markus

i have a mix of 2k and xp workstation opmanager find all the 2k and 2003 servers type no problem but zippo for the workstations have to add machine type manual is there a service i need to turn on on the 2K and XP workstations for OPmanager to find the type of workstation automatic

Is there a way to stop autodiscovery ? Each 15 days, I get all the desktop, laptop and other devices I don't want to monitor or having in the database..... Thanks. PS. Any timeframe for a new release ? ;-)

Uninstalling and ReInstalling
I have an interesting issue. I want to uninstall Opmanager and then doa clean install. However one problem that I am encountering is that the database does not get removed or deleted and thus holds onto old information. How can I tell this. After a reinstall I want to re-add the networks from the ground up, and though the network discovery does not show the network, when I try to re-add it it says that it is currently in the database. <- not sure how this is happening but I would like to be able
Create a 'Fake Switch'
