Step by step instructions for adding and testing SNMP mibs a
Ok, somehow my post into the snmp group got missed so I had to demo this software to my network team without the ability of knowing if chassis snmp alarms really worked or not.
We are planning to purchase your software here in the next couple of weeks, but before I cut a PO I would like some step by step instructions on adding and testing 3rd party mibs. ie from Cisco, Extreme, Dell etc. not just adding them into the mib folder but also how to test the snmp alarms from a cisco catalyst 6513, or 6509 or an extreme summit 48 ...
The reason why I ask this is that in an earlier post I asked some additional questions. I added all the cisco mibs into the opmanager /mibs folder and I have the opmanager server as my snmp server setup on my cisco 6509 and 6513 switch, but 2 days later I am still not receiving any "Unsolicited Alarms" as previous mentioned. "My 6509 has a faulty redundant power supply which is a good test and generates alarms via the cisco-entity and envmon mibs which I dont see at all with OpManager.
So here's the deal, I will be willing to move forward with the purchase of your software, but I really need some documentation that explains how to properly do this and how to test that the mibs are indeed receiving the snmp trap and unsolicited alarms are working properly. If not, then I will start my search again for some other snmp management solution.
