Running OpManager on Server with another Tomcat Installation
Hi All, I'm trying to install the 30 day trial version of OpManager on a server which also runs a development version of another application (Blackboard) which utilises its own custom Tomcat install. The problem I get is that only one of the two applications will work at the same time. Setup monitoring of Dell PowerEdge disk array
I had to hunt for a while to get this monitor working as I'm a SNMP n00b. I thought I would share it with the rest of the n00bs out there. First thing you have to do is install Dell Server Administrator on the server you want to monitor. There should be a short-cut on the server desktop to install this, but if not you can get if off the resource disks that came with the system or off the Dell web site. Enabling MSSQL Monitoring...
Hi all, Sorry I have searched through the forum and unable to find the answer that i'm looking for. I'm pretty new to this package, so i'm slowing finding my way around OpManager. Earlier on today, I upgraded from Build No. 6003 to 7023 and in the 'About' screen it says that we have access to the MSSQL Monitoring till Wednesday 19th December 2007. We are interested in look at this but unable to find out how to get this feature within the new OpManager 7023 release. The Admin page doesn't indicate
Remove Domain Controller
Hi all, We have Opmanager version 7 without the AD option and Opmanager has created discovered the Domain Controller which is fine, however we have now changed on of our subnets and I'm unable to change the IP or delete the DC because we have not get the AD option installed. SMS alerting
Is there a way to test SMS alerting from OpManager command line? We are using OpManager 7 build 7023. The installation is on a Linux server. I have created an SMS alert but want to be able to send a test alert. Thanks in advance.
Unable to add active interfaces on managed switch
Hi I am using build 7020 to monitor a number of switches, all using SNMP v2 credentials. On one switch, even though on 'rediscovery' all ports are discovered, when I try and add them to the monitor, they are not added. I am only left with 3 interfaces. Even those remaining interfaces do not show the interface descriptions as set on the switch. Please can someone offer some advice / assistance. Thanks Dave C
Vista Interactive Services Dialog Detection
Every time I open and log on to windows a screen pops up asking about a dialog box wanting to display but cant. I click to display and it switches to the opmanager login screen but shuts down every service. How would i stop opmanager from auto starting on windows startup. I can not find the startup in the startup group and the usual places in the registry don't stand out to disable it. If I start it from the start>programs group it appears to start correctly with out a compatability error. maybe

URL Monitors
Is OpManager good for doing only URL monitoring from an off-site location? With it being off-site, OpManager is not able to discover the hosts as I guess it would on the same network. I setup a couple of URL monitors to test, but I don't see a way to tie those to notifications as you can if you have a server that has been discovered. From what I can tell, OpManager is designed more to reside on the same network as the servers it is monitoring. So I am wondering it is really a good tool to do only

No AD store or performance information
I upgraded to build 7023 which resolves the lack of information in the AD store area. However, while this has worked for one of our DCs, the PDC still has no information here despite using the same credentials and both the SNMP and Windows credentials passing test. It also doesn't appear to be logging any performance information for the PDC.

Hi, I'm evaluating OpManager 7 for our company. So far, I've been very pleased with the product and its features. However, there is one thing that is really bugging me... For any given device type or category, I would like to be able to make global configuration changes that will affect all objects of that type or category. For example, I don't want to have alarms raised in OM7 for "desktops" that are not reachable, as this is common since people frequently turn off or reboot their desktop computers.

I have some recommendations that would be useful, at least in our environment. 1. The ability for admins to configure non-admin user accounts with more/less access like: a. The ability to see infrastructure views. b. The ability to see all alarms (like admins). c. The ability to see the spash graphs for alarms and availability. 2. hi, i'm new on Opmanager although I am nt having a lot of trouble, only this: when i configure the information to send notifications by e-mail, this message is shown: Invalid Addresses; nested exception is: class javax.mail.SendFailedException: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for the " to ID email", this happens whenever i tried to send a test email, i'm working with the free version (up to 10 nodes) of Opmanager, is this the reason?? :D

Switch port mapper doesn't stop
Hello, When I go to switch port mapper and click on Refresh, the little timer comes up on the side of the refresh button and it doesn't stop. I can leave it on, then a few hours later I will get a popup saying "There was a problem". Almost like it doesn't refresh. How can I determine if it really went and updated? Thanks Mark

Internal Server Error 500 - Trying to update credentials
Due to our network scan failing to pick up information regarding CPU load etc. want to double-check our credential information. However, upon making a change to a set of credentials and hitting Update I get the following error: "500 : Internal Server Error" My changes fail to save.

Cannot Login after changing Admin Password
We are running OpManager 7 and the other day I changed the password from "admin" to a new one. Now, I can no longer login. I don't get an incorrect password message, the page. The page just sits there and it says opening page https://localhost/jsp/login.do and hangs there... Please advise Thanks
Error "80041010" when adding MSSQL WMI monitors
"80041010 - Specified class is invalid. Try running 'wmiadap /f'(For Windows XP and 2003) or 'winmgmt /resyncperf'(For Windows 2000) command from the monitored device. " I've followed the instructions and ran "wmiadap /f" on my Windows 2003 SQL server, but there was no effect. I am supplying my domain admin pw, and the SNMP/WMI is running on the SQL server.

Hey, Simple question: When I add a SQL server to OPmanager it doesn't show the special SQL monitors (Databeses etc.) only the standard CPU,mem,hdd monitors is shown. Security request
Can you please make a security group that has access to modify device details without giving someone full permissions to the monitors ect? I have people asking if they change the names of devices but the only way to do that is to give them admin rights.

this request was posted over 2 years ago, has there been any movement on it? It was stated that it would go into the roadmap .......must be a very long road !!!! I would and i would guess that alot of users would find it very very benifical to have this, this is something that can be done using the likes of Cacti to trend your disk usage etc for capacity planning. Is there any update or has it been dropped? Cheers.
Monitoring DHCP
Looking at the list of available Windows services DHCP is not listed, however if you run through the Quick Configuration wizard DHCP is listed as a Windows service option. I added DHCP as a service monitor via this tool to one of my servers in OpManager (7021) but I cannot find it listed under any of the categories, nor has upgrading to 7023 resolved the issue.
