Hi Everyone, I am currently trying to install OpManager and what I want to do is use our current MSSQL infrastrucutre to host the backend database. However the database servers are setup to use instances, for some reason when I attempt to install opManager and enter in all the DB names it always comes back with it cannot install because host was not found when I have checked that there is certain connectivity between the two. So my question is how do I get OpManager to install onto a MSSQL instance

Hi, we are running Opmanager 7204. I'm trying to get the sound notification profile to work. "Out of the box", Opmanager should already play a notification sound. It doesn't work. When trying to configure a sound notification these pre-defined settings are displayed: - "command name" ./jre/bin/java - "program arguments" -classpath ./classes/OpManagerServerClasses.jar com.adventnet.me.opmanager.server.alert.AudioNotifier ./conf/application/scripts/ringin.wav The problem is that the directory ./jre/bin/java
SNMP
I curious to know something that I am not understanding. When I make a device template it asks me to query a device vai SNMP and IP Adress to see if the device exist and then it gives you an OID number. OpManager was indeed able to query the device via SNMP through the IP Address for this device but after I add the custom Monitor and run a test on the custom monitor, this is what I get:(See Below) Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Using MSSQL instance
Hi Guys, I am attempting to install OpManager version 7 (as that is the version we previously bought) but do not want to use My SQL as we already have a MSSQL infrastructure in place. My current prediciment is how do I install this product and get it to use an MSSQL instance as I have kept getting errors when attempting to do this? The error I get is: Host name is invalid or not reachable I have assigned a user so opmanager can create DB on that instance and I am able to ping that instance

WMI authentication issue
Hi there all, and my complimets to OpManager authors, very nice software. I'm testing OpManager as monitoring software for my company. I'm having a problem on a couple of servers with WMI credentials; when I test credentials on these two machines I have SNMP Passed and WMI Failed so I'won't be able to monitor windows services. Am I missing to configure something on remote machine? I've also tried to authenticate with local admin pw instead of the domain user but still no way. Thanks for your help

So our development team is going to work on this and we want our customers and evaluators to share the ideas and feedback to make it better. 91% CPU Utilization based on Idle Process?
Can someone explain if the CPU Utilization monitor is using the idle process in it's calculations of CPU utilization? And if so, how do we correct this? As you can see by the alert below it is identifying a 91% utilization, and listing #1 process as Idle (accounting for 64% of overall?). Please advise. Adding a device with port - "device not reachable"
I am trying to add a server that is in a network which uses port forwarding (that is, multiple servers are using the same ip and the router points to the server based on the port number specified in the address) For example, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxxx:<port number> However, I am getting a "device not reachable" error. Just wondering if this was something I was doing wrong, or if OpManager does not support this feature. Thanks for any feedback.

Opmanager not (yet) compatible with ESX(i) 3 ???
Hi All, I'm testing Opmanager 8 and added a ESX 3 server. I'm able to connect with SNMP and CLI (SSH). But only the following are visible: Availability, Response Time, Today's Packet Loss. The VM Dashboard stays empty and no VM's or other resources are visible! Is Opmanager not (yet) compatible with ESX(i) 3 ??? If it's compatible how do I setup the VM Dashboard or is it not usable in the Free Trial version? Hopefully someone can clear this out for me, thanks advance. rds Ankur Maheshwari

DC monitoring problem
Hi, Can you help me? One of my domain controllers, do not show the info for the adctive directory counter, like kerberos authentications. The other counters, like memory and disk are OK. The wmi connection is correct, because I can list the services, and the password test result is Ok for SNMP and WMI. The other DC is fine, and returning all data. Thanks

Problem with Lists
Hi, I've just installed the latest demo version and it seems to work well. With the exception of some of the lists (eg.. displaying all IP's within the IPAM part) give me a few lines then garbeled html for the rest of the list. Anyone seen this? Thanks Chris.
performance issue
All, I appear to be having performance issues with my oputils install. after typing in the address for the web page, I get the login screen. I type in the admin username/password and click "sign in". nothing happens...basically it looks like its trying to retrieve the next page but it never does. I've attempted this connection from my pc and from the server itself with the same results. stopping and starting the server doesn't help. I can't post version information because I can't get into the
Loading the Internet Routing Table??
So when I added our border router to OpUtils... apparently it thought the internet routing table were subnets on our network. So when I went to IP Address Manager and Discovered Subnets, it just crashes trying to load like 9000 entries. How is the subnet information pulled? Shouldn't it be pulled from what *routed interfaces* exist on the routers, not what's in BGP? Because that's ridiculous and now I can't even use the application due to how large it is....

Hi, I'm running OpUtils in an ESX 3 environment and I'm seeing attempts to login taking over 1 minute and longer. I'm running the latest version with full license. Any ideas where to look? Steve
Problem Gettin end user devises. (MAC - IP)
I've this problem, I'm trying to view all end divices conected to my switch but in one single port it gave me the MORE button option, when pressed it shows multiple mac addresses whitin particular IP addresses assigned to. I'd like that information being obtain in every switch port that PC's are connected instead of show me that information without the switchport assigned to. Switches are Cisco Catalyst 3550, 3560
Cisco Catalyst 4500 only showing used ports
All my Catalyst 4500 series switches are only showing the used ports. How can I view all ports (used, transient, and available)?
Oputils NOT WORKING or STABLE.
Is seems that the last 2 upgrades has just not worked. I have not been able to get my IP Addresses out, something that I was relying on and now can not use. I need this to be more reliable or I will have to look for something else. Also I don't have a button to add another Cisco device in Config File Manager. The entire app just does not seem stable to me anymore...
Interface Tx/Rx/Errors all displaying N/A
Hello, We are using OpManager 8 since a couple of months now but we are having 1 problem. At a number of interfaces, we cannot see the Tx/Rx and Errors in the snapshot and interface details. this occurs at about half of our switches. I already searched the knowledge base and forums however the sollutions provided there did not work (unmanage and the manage again). I checked the data by using the MIB-browser and all data seems to be present, still the data is not displayed in the snapshot and interface
WMI Authentication
Hi there all, I'm just testing OpManager in my company, very nice tool !! I'm encountering a strange "problem" about WMI authentication on a couple of servers. All seems configured correctly but when I test the credentials, I get PASSED from SNMP and FAILED from WMI. I've inserted the domain\username convention as done for other servers working fine. Am I missing any parameter on the target machine? I've compared with other machines that authenticate correctly but I didn't find anything different
Probe problem
Hi, All! One of our probes keeps failing with the message Probe has detected that polling has been stopped for the past xxx After rebooting the probe is fine for a few ours but then we get the message again. Any ideas on how to resolve this? John.
Remove statistics data from OpManager
Hi, I am trying to create a default OpManager setup for our deployments. The setup contains new device templates, devices, business views, dashboards and other modifications. Currently I have moved the config by copying the folders conf, mysql\data and users in addition to adding MIBs and custom images. My problem is that this also copies all the statistics data created in our default OpManager installation, thus creating a very large installation to send out. Is there a way to easily delete all

adding background to existing bussines view
Hi! I recently reinstalled my opmanager on a new server, all the configuration and data did restore just fine, but i lost my custom mapimage to my bussines view!! i cant seem to find a setting where i can add a background image to an EXISTING bussines view - is there someway i can add this, or do i have to create a whole new bussines view all over again?

Internal Server Error - 500 after install
Hi, Internal Server Error - 500 error message displayed after installation of OpManager 8 (8007) OpManager is installed in the default location and is using MSSQL. The database is created ok. I've ran the RepairDB and StartOpmanagerserver batch files from the BIN directory. I've also changed the webserver port with the same results. Hello I selected "Any Application failure" rule , created notification rule for Event Log rules. I've upgraded to 8 last service pack. Cannot edit or add snmp credential and all host (more then 300) have lost the credential settings. Any help?

Problem adding RHEL4.7 64bit
Hi, I having problem adding device/server on the OPManager. Server version is RHEL4.7 64bit. with 32bit had no problem and also on my test AppManager had no problem managin 64bit linux. I can successfully add the server thru manual add in the Admin -> Add Device with a successfully added device notification but when I checked it in the server list can't find the newly added server. Missing ESX perf data
