Alerts based on printer status and toner levels
Is it possible to add alerts based on the alert status of a printer? Most HPs display a "ORDER CYAN", "REPLACE MAGENTA" style message, it's retrievable from OID ".1.3.6.1.2.1.43.18.1.1.8" I know this message appears on the Printers dashboard, but no alerts are generated. Any chance Opmanager could periodically check if there's an alert in the MIB, and generate an alert based on its contents? For example, generate an alert if it contains ORDER x or REPLACE x or TONER LOW but ignore it if all it says

Can't detect interfaces
I'm having some annoying problems with some Netgear kit - I can't discover the interfaces. FVX 538 firewalls WG102 Wireless access points GSM7224 switch With the FVX538s, I can test the SNMP credentials and they do pass (the CLI credentials pass too) but the interfaces will not discover. The especially annoying but about these is that they worked under Opmanager 7. :( The WG102s won't even pass the SNMP credentials tests. I'm sure the community is set correctly, but the SNMP test always fails.
WMI checks failing
Hi, We have a 2k3 server where the WMI checks are failing. We've gone through and tried different credentials, made sure that the WMI Control permission sets on the server mirror identically those of a twin server where WMI works, and there is no firewall between the machines (telnet verifies the ports 135 and 445 are open)RPC is enabled and there's no reason we can see why this is continually failing. Ideas?

Hi, I have a device which sends a SNMP trap message to the OpManager. The corresponding MIB is uploaded. If my custom made trap processor processed the message with $* the following result is displayed: sysContact.0: Martin , sysName.0: Processing Unit , sysLocation.0: Office , unit2MsgIndex.1: 1 , unit2MsgText.1: Door Lock 1 , unit2MsgStatus.1: locked The bold value is initially sent as a integer value (12) an interpreted by the MIB as "locked". OpManager does not display second subnet
Hello, I am running OpManager (8022) on Win Server 2008. I have 2 network segments on the router, 192.168.0.0/24 and 192.168.1.0/24 In maps \ Network View i see only the 192.168.1.0/24, but the devices from 192.168.0.0/24 still show as discovered and are dumped in desktops. I have registered version of OpManager for 500 devices. Any ideas ? Vasil
Uninstall NCM Plugin from Opmanager 8021
Hello, can someone please tell me how to remove the trial version of the NCM (Network Configuration Management) module from Opmanager 8021? The NCM plugin doesn't work, and I'm tired of the backups taking longer than before. It should be made easier to get rid of such plugin applications - or at least one should be warned that it is not simple to de-install it after trying it out. Process Monitor - No CPU usage
Hi I am after setting up monitoring a process so that i get notified when it is using more than 49% cpu. I can set this up but when i look at the process monitor it always shows at 0% but when i check the process itself in task manager it is almost 100%. The wmi monitor shows cpu usage fine so seems to relate to the process monitor itself. Can you assist in getting this working for me Thank Mike
Why can't I have "List View" be my default view fo
When you're looking at Servers, and you click on "Select View" it gives you the options: Small, Large, List, and Details. When you select any of the views other than List, it gives you a check-box to "Set as default view". However, when you select the List view, that check-box is not there and anytime you refresh the page it goes right back to the other views other than List. Is this by design? Or a design flaw? Am I missing something? Please advise. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
GSM modem only sends single alerts
Hi - I have a Wavecom GSM modem that is listed as a recommended modem by OpManager. I've connected the modem to COM3 as recommended, and set up correct baud rate on the modem and in the OpManager config file. I hit the test actions button and all works well. Next I created a profile, with the same phone number as in the test, and associated it to one of our servers. I fail (on purpose) one of the monitored services. I recieve a text. Clear alert
Hi. Sometimes when an alarm is automatically cleared the device keep showing at the "devices to watch" but with a green check. As i understood, Devices to Watch should only show devices with alarms. I have waited for more than a day and the no-alarms-device keep showing at devices to watch. Do anybody share the same situation? Know why? Any suggestions? Thanks
New Installation on different hardware
Hi there, I've been using opmanager for a while now and want to decommission the old server and start with a clean install. I want to install a new server with Opmanager 8 without the need to upgrade from the previous versions. The license file I have is not compatible with the new version though. Problem with SNMP polling after server restart
I am having an issue with OpManager 8 (build 8021) installed on a windows 2003 server. We have scheduled restarts of our servers every Sunday and after the restarts the OpManager services are started automatically. You can access Opmanager client and any of the devices, but none of the SNMP polling is taking place. All of the graphs and data stop at the time of the server reboot. The page cannot be displaed
Hi, I installed free version of OpManager 8.2 today on a: Windows Server 2003 SP1 2 GHZ AMD Opterton 4 GB RAM During install it located an older version of OpManager and uninstalled from the C: drive. I installed to the C: drive and received the web port as 8060. After installing on the C: drive the web page never started up I looked at the space and noted that it did not have much room so I uninstalled OpManager again and reinstalled on the D: drive which has the required 60 GB free.
How do you do a backup without shuting down OpMan
The script for taking an off line backup is obvious and works well even if taking several hours. This is not subitable for day to day operations. I need to know how to make my regular backups whlist leaving OpManager on line. Thanks
User setup question
Two things, both of which I'm guessing are more enhancement requests than actual questions... Is there any way for a read-only user to modify the widgets on their dashboard? When logged in with a "Full control" user, I get 3 icons in the corner of each widget - refresh, edit, and close. When logging in with a read-only user, the only icon visible is the refresh one (displayed in the images below). Receiving alarms from disabled ports
Hi! How is it possible that I am receiving alarms from switch ports which are disabled? If I click on "Configure ports" in the "Actions" menu bar the ports 7 and 13 aren't displayed but this morning I received the alarms that they are up or down. Do you have some wrong settings? Juniper SSG-550 interfaces
Hi all, We are in a process of deploying OpManager and bumped into the first problem, Juniper SSG-550 device, from device template there is Netscreen SSG500series, so we picked this one, the problem is that on the Interfaces tab we cant see any Rx and Tx or Error data. Basically it doesnt pull any data from the interfaces apart from the speed. What could be done to see these data, also when I do manual SNMP walk on the device I can see tables with data coresponding to the interfaces data flow, etc;

Help Installing Probe in Windows 2008 with ISA server
I am having all sorts of problems with the probe installed in Windows 2008 server. The 2008 server has only iis and the firewall client. After installation I can't open the web client locally. CCTV view for Operators

Installation of OPManager with SQL2005 database
Trying to install Opmanager onto a server with SQL2005 , Opmanager will NOT install as it says it connot connect. I have created an sa equiv account , even created the database and made sure the sa equiv is the owner then put those detail into the install part of Opmanager. It tells me it cannot connect and to install MySQL instead !!!. I cannot find any information on how to install with SQL2005 for this product, can some one help please ? Scott

Hello, I am attempting to set up trap processors for our Liebert UPS. We are trying to log when our UPS go into test state as well as a few other states. The MIBs are loaded and working fine to pull data, such as UPS load, from the devices. I have attempted to create custom trap processors in addition to trap processors from MIBs. How to delete default Opmanager Device templates?
I am finding 2 default Liebert Device templates w/ nearly the same System OID (slight difference).. when I try to add custom monitors to one of them from a Liebert supplied MIB, Opmanager UI hangs on an ADD function in URI, w/ status none bottom left. I have to relogin to Opmanager, and go back to templates, but I find my changes are not saved. I can successfully add and modify other templates and devices so I suspect something wrong w/ the 2 Liebert templates.. there is no way to delete in
Device Shows Alerts but I find no problems
Many of my devices show a yellow exclamation marker next to it, yet when I go to the SNAPSHOT view, I see no problems. Why are some of them marked with a alerts when there are no Alarms and all data is being captured. Additionally, how can I get OpManager to not show a problem when I have a VMware VM turned off. device dependencies
I can't seem to find this in the manual, nor in the forums here.. so I'll just ask.. Suppose I have 20 servers all attached to a switch which is itself attached to a router; and that switch goes down. Providing that the switch is "pingable", how can I tell OpManager that those 20 servers are behind/dependent on the switch and NOT give me 21 alerts (20 servers + 1 switch), but only the ONE alert that counts (the router being down).
