I'm arranging our sites on the US map and clicking "save view" to create a buisness view. This works... sometimes. It seems to randomly reset itself and arrange all the servers into their default sorted position. What is reseting these to default? Its a lot of work to arrange everything where it needs to be only to have it mysteriously undo itself. Caerie
URL monitor dependencies
I'm wondering if there is a way to set up dependencies for url monitors. This feature would come in handy when our internet connection goes down, and don't have the ability to monitor urls out on the internet. Dependencies work great for the devices we monitor, now if only they worked for urls as well...
OP Manager V.s Nagios
Guys, im in the process of testing both the aformentioned products for our IT dept. Would anybody have a pro's and con's on each solution. Personally i would like to use OPmanager but there are some advantages to using Nagios as well. Any help would be appricated
MySql error 2003 can't connect to mysql server
hy everybody, i installed on the same machine how opmanager is installed a mysql administrator gui. when i connect to the mysql server i become follow error message: (screenshot) the user and passphrase that i try, is the local administrator account from the windows server. wy can't connect to the mysql server? what's for usernames and phasphrases funding opmanager by the installation from mysql? thanks for help chris
Run script when interface is down
I want to run a script when an interface of a router is down. The script will just bring anotrher interface up. How can I do that?
Regarding Device Alarms
All, I'm new to OPMan so please excuse the barrage of posts, I am evaluating the program for potential purchase by comparing it to my current one. I end up with a lot of problems confusion and queries so I've spent hours configing and searching the kbase and forums. I've noticed that when a device goes down, like say a FreeBSD box I have just did around 2am, it generates the appropriate alarm: Device not responding: Probably down or busy This alarm seems to stay in this state until the admin clears
Acknowledging interface alerts
As an ISP I have several 7500 and 7200 series routers that host customer ckts. Cisco 2924 Switch
Hi I've just installed OpManager. I did a discovery on my network and had to manually search for my Cisco 2924 switches by IP address. I recategorized them once they were found as Cisco 2924 XL switches, however I wasn't sure how to do the port monitoring. I've tried going to port configuration and checking off the monitor and notify boxes but I don't seem to get any info showing in my monitor window for the switches. Can someone please point me in the right direction. Thanks
Batch deleting multiple interfaces
All, I have several Cisco AS5300s that I have loaded into the program. My problem is that I only need to monitor the 8 or so T1s, not the other 100 or so interfaces that represent the modems. Unmanaging them took care of polling, but it is still a task everytime the page loads and must build out for all of those interfaces. Is there a way to delete all the interface I do not, and do not ever plan to manage? Thanks in advance, Ryan
tcp port based 'send-string/match response' monitoring
In converting my company from Sitescope to OpManager I didn't consider that OpManager might be missing a basic 'send-string/match response' type monitor. We have OODLES of inhouse applications that we routinely need to check the health status of through a simple query/response on a tcp port. hypothetical example: connect to port 12345 send string "HELO HEALTHY?" if server responds "YES" then everything is okay, if server responds otherwise, consider that 'service down' at the very least if OpManager

Windows Service Monitor - What is the interval?
Did a quick search so that I could inform our SQL DBAs. We had a false down service notification which I suspect was just a blip in network communication. The downed notification was immediately followed by the service clear notification. Would like to just inform them of the interval period between service monitors. Since we are using RedHat 2.1, 3 as well as version 4 I created a new command that will give me the amount of used CPU on all these versions: sar -u 1 1 | grep Average | grep -o '[0-9|\.]*$' | grep -o '^[0-9]*' You will need the sysstat package for this to work (up2date sysstat). SNMP for monitoring CPU usage is not an option on RedHat, the OID used in OpManager for net-snmp is deprecated

Network Discovery found greyed out networks, the problem is that some of those networks are the one I would like to monitor, when I a matrying to add that network to Network View, I am getting "Network already in database" error So how that can be resolved ? Thanks

Router Interfaces
I would like monitor only some interfaces at a router (Cisco). I have this interfaces not select in the Option "Configure Interfaces" (no manage, no notify). But i see them again in the device snapshot. For switches works this way fine. What can i do that i not see this long (full) list of interfaces for the router?

Seed device discovery from hosts file.
I am in the process of installing a demo version of OpManager 5.5. I currently monitor my network and servers with a couple of other commercial applications. I am not too keen on performing network discovery to monitor all the devices. Is there a way to input devices into Opmanager via a text file import or hosts file or csv file? I have a lot of hosts that need to be monitored, but there are 10 times that many that need to be excluded, so it would be a huge chore to input each device one at a time.
Server check done by PING, can this be switched off?
I have some devices that I need to monitor that are not accesible via PING, it appears that these servers are always shown as having a problem? Is it possible to have an option to say that if PING is not available but SNMP or some other check is that OpManager relies on this check to confirm if the devices is up and not the PING check?
Ability to check WWW sites through multiple proxy servers
I run multiple proxy servers and it would be useful for me to have a "use proxy" setting for each server that I add in as currently with only the global proxy setting I can check only 1 proxy server at a time. Are there any plans to change this?
Is it possible to set threshold values on multiple servers?
Is there a way to set and configure resource thresholds accross several machines simultaneously? I know I can add a monitor, and I can add a notification using configuration wizard, but I can't seem to find a way to configure thresholds using it. Am I just missing something? Thanks, Caerie

Discovering Cisco AS5350 as Cisco 2500
Hi, OpManager discovers AS5350 as Cisco 2500. Is there a way to define Cisco AS5350 and discover it as AS5350 ? How can I delete async interfaces? AS5350 has over 60 async ports to generate trouble alarm for each modem disconnection. Thanks, Yigit
session expire/refresh problem
this is an old problem before 5.5 did not got fixed in 5.6 The problem is OpManger can not be used as an alarm monitor. It could expire without notice. Changing it to never expire will not work since that will change its ability to refresh frequently to catch new alarms. Can we have a quick fix for this behavior? Thanks, Min

Interface details on Solaris
Has anyone had any trouble getting the interface details on Solaris 8? Whenever I try to add a monitor for the interface, it appears to crash the snmp agent on the host machine.

I tried update status from device snapshot and also rediscover now option but it isnt showing new new OS that we applied on NetApp Data OnTap Release. It still show old version on device snapshot. Hi Guys Most of our servers are smp machines (dual cpu's) How ever when setting up monitoring for this, expecially cpu utilization we are only able to see on graph is it possible in anyway to show results, values, or graphs for each cpu?
wmi user permissions
When setting up to monitor 2003 servers via wmi what permissions or group privileges does the account used for the wmi need access to? I have tested this under a normal domain user and it does not work, I have tested this under a domain administrators account and it is working So what permissions and settings does thee account require ? How ever due to security reasons I do not want the account that I am going to use to be a member of the domain group
Backup and Restore of the OpManager Database
Ok, I found the batch file that creates a backup of the database in OpManager. Program files/adventnet/me/opmanager/bin/backup/backupdb.bat I am assuming this creates a backup of the OpManager Database in case the database becomes corrupted. The problem I am having now is that I want to restore the database, so when I click the Restoredb.bat I get the error message that says the following: "Usage : RestoreBackup.sh [Backup file]" The system cannot find the path specified. Press any key to continue.
