Monitoring Windows 2003 Domain Controller
Can anyone tell me what we need to do to monitor a Windows 2003 Domain Controller? What services need to be running, does the account require administrative rights? I would like step by step instructions if at all possible. We have SMNP installed and WMI SNMP provider. We are still having some problems seeing some stuff. namely the AD stuff listed under AD STore, Network, Performance Counters. What else is required on the domain controller?
6016 linux installation/views
After installation a clean opmanager installation on a debian server applying the update 6016 and setting up the database at MSSQL we are running in to the following problem. If we click on a view for example Servers in the Infrastructure Views the devices are not showing. But we can find these devices back in the Quickconfig wizard. URL Monitoring service down when its not
We currently have a number of URL monitors on one particular device. We're receiving alarms indicating that the URL is down because the host is unreachable. the error i receive is: 404: The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. : http://206.196.121.13:42 However, when entering the URL in a browser, i'm able to connect to the site and i can even click on the URL link in OpManager and open the site. SNMP Traps
Hi I'm sending traps from machine A to machine B. I can see in Ethereal that the packets (SNMP Traps) are arriving in machine B but how do I capture it in OPManager (OPManager 6 free). I've checked in 'Unsolicited Traps' but nothing is arriving. Can any one help me with this? Cheers

Can opmanager be installed on a linux server that is not running X server. I usually install all my servers to have only commandline.
Non-Historical Change Monitoring
You have a 1 TB drive. You've set your monitor at 100 GB for a warning by email. Historically you use 1 GB per day, then one day consumption jumps to 80 GB an hour. Still, the current OpManager model won't let you know about this change from the historical usage to the current usage until you hit 100 GB. You have a CPU that hovers around 50% usage. You have your warning monitor set at 85% usage. One day the usage jumps from 50% to 83% and stays there. No monitor will alert unless it goes over 85%
Traffic Monitor Problems
Im having problems with getting OpManager to consistently record traffic monitor details such as Interface Rx Traffic and Interface Tx Traffic. I notice that when a device is discovered, OpManager may automatically assign traffic counters to it, but it wont start collecting data until I go into the traffic monitor, click edit, then click test monitor. Once I do that, sometimes the collection will continue and sometimes it will only record that one instance from when I clicked test monitor. This problem

Hi All, Is there a known issue where when adding a device into OpManager7, it will not select a SNMP profile to use? We use our own SNMP profile, it has been setup in the Credentials area and is ticked when adding the device. However, after adding the device and checking it, it will never select our(or any other) SNMP Credentials. Only "None" is selected. Running Database running on a Sandisk

[OpManager MSP] - central and probe on same machine
Hi at all, I installed the msp central and probe on the same machine for testing purpose, both services starts without problems but i can't reach the probe console. I can't configure, for example, the monitoring intervals. I already seen into port.properties file but, by default, there are different ports specified. Someone can help me? Collection Devices
Does OpsManager(or WebNMS) have the ability to deploy collection servers. We have several remote sites with thousands of nodes in each. Each site is separated by WANS and Firewalls and a distributed model with a centralized database would be ideal. Is this feasible, and is the deployment model documented?
Ticket Feature
We cueenrlty have ServiceDesk Plus for our ticketing system and opmnager is intergrated into it. Tickets are opened from opmanager in Service deskplus via email alerts. The new ticket feature does not seam to have the asset tracking or contract tracking parts that service desk does on the web demo. Are those features available? The one thing I find missing from OpManager (and Microsoft's Operations Manager is way worse at this) is the startup story. I want it to not only discover all of my systems, but help me sort through the events that are happening and categorize them. It should pick up on new events and ask me how I want to deal with them. Is there a way to include a hostname or what the service is dynamically based on what item goes down? Similar to the way it works in email notifications? OM6 premium linux with MSSQL2k5 backend DB: licensed or not?
hi. we have purchased OM6 premium for linux and want to use it with a MSSQL 2005 backend database (which we already own). I have logged a case with adventnet and received instructions how to hack MSSQL support into OM6. Now we saw a new version / servicepack available on your site which states MSSQL support is available. i have 3 questions: 1) is this newer version (6013 i believe) a better way to get MSSQL support in our OM6? We have not installed it yet so we can do it right the first time. 2)
SD+ Integration gives error
Hello All, I'm using SD+ 5.5.0 build 5507 and Opmanager 6 build 6012. I've been trying to get integration to work, but can't get it. I've moved OM to a separate server, and I've tried every way I can think of to give OM the name of the SD+ server. I've even entered it's ip address. SD+ runs on port 80, OM on 9090. Business View Popup Details
Is there any way to change the details that are shown upon mouseover in business view? I would like the display name to be a number and the popup details to include location details and other information. I'm using OpManager 7 currently. Also, is there a way to get a report of all availability statistics in a numeric representation list of each site rather than the graphical display (maybe in a table or something of the sort)? Warning Thresholds
Is there a way to set a counter to warn at a certain threshold and go critical at a later one? For example, if my CPU is hovering around 80% or more for a sustained period I would want a warning. If it is surpassing 95% for that same period I would want a critical alert that goes to a pager. Thanks, Colin

WMI Win2003 server
Hi, I am evaluating the new 7 version in an windows 2003 server environment SP1, SP2, without any SP and with no SNMP. So i have changed the templates to gather wmi information for CPU DISKS etc. No connection is done although the account is a domain admin account with full rights. I also checked with Microsoft to see if i have any problems on WMI but the tests are ok. Imagine that i cannot connect to WMI no even on the server were the application is installed. Regards Gabriel
Database Maintenance
I want to clean up my OpManager database as it's over 6GB now, but I don't want to just start over with it. Is there a way I can purge all of the performance data but keep all of the existing settings and managed items? I'm running 6016 with a MSSQL backend database. Also, how often does the Database Maintenance run to clean up the database, and is there a way to force the maintenance procedure to run? Thanks.

Hello, I recently came across an issue with OpManager 6 where it doesn't appear to handle multiple broswer sessions properly. Here's what happenend: I went into the Notification Profiles page and create a new notification profile. To keep our notification profiles in a standard format I like to view an existing notification profile while I work on the new one. I am able to add mssql monitoring to a server, but after it's added the section "Application Monitors" shows "No Application Monitors associated" I have had sql alerts from the server. Is this a bug?
Alarm is trigger but notifications aren't
Hi, I'm testing OpManager MSP and I have a device with 2 notification profiles, one is Log a Ticket and other is Run a System Command. It seams that, after a while, when an alarm is trigger (device is down) the notifications aren't trigger, i.e., no Ticket is created and no System Command runs. But, if I reboot the central machine, everything starts to work again properly. What could be happening? Regards, nmfn
device availability error
opmanager seems to be displaying the availability of one of my switches wrongly. the switch is working fine but in the availability pie graph its recorded as downtime, and the pie graph is red. other switches are recorded correctly. only one is wrong. so how do i correct this? how to turn it back to uptime and green color. thanks.
