Alarms in OpManager
I'd like the ability to e-mail the alarm directly out of the alarm view of each device. So next to the "Acknowledge" and "Clear" buttons, I'd like an e-mail button that would take a scrape of the alarm so I can send it to specific technicians.
Unable to restore DB backup - opManager
I am trying to restore a backup from our opManager install to a new server. I have used the backup utility and the command line to backup our opManager database and then import to the new server. Both have failed. Server 1 (Old ) Windows 2003 x64 , opManager version 9011 Server 2 (New ) Windows 2008 R2 x64 , opManager version 9011 Error = Unable to restore data. Make sure the build number of your installation and the one in the backup is the same. I have verified that both installs are at
Threshold interval VS Monitoring interval
Hi, What is the difference between Threshold interval and Monitoring interval. If i set my device monitoring interval to 5 min, and my device threshold is set to 60 min. Does it mean that OpManager will check for threshold violation at every 60 min? or every 5 min? Thanks.
VMware Monitoring - ESXi - Disk free space utalization
Hi @ all, If anyone else has the problem that the disk free space of ESXi datastores will not be displayed with the correct amount of free space, pls consider to have a look on that host with vsphere and refresh that datastore. Than the correct amount of free disk space should be monitored. Means the host itself does not send up to date data to OpManager. So it seems not be a problem on OpManager's side. Just if anybody else has this problem ;-) Regards

default username and password wont work on new install of OM
I have just downloaded opmanager and installed on winXP as user with admin rights. i cant login using the default admin username and admin as password given in the instructions.. have these been changed? if not is there any other reason why i should not be able to login? i have used all the dafault installation instructions. thanks. chris

Widget - Disk usage in MB
Hi.. Is it possible to have a Widget showing Disk usage in MB insted of %? The % widget could be misguiding, since we have serveres with different sizes disks...some with huge disks at arround 1TB. So the widgets with the % calculations sometimes showes serveres with under 20% free diskspace, due to the fact that there might still be around 200GB free....

Hello, I was wondering if I can have some assistance, If I goto maps->Layer2 Topology Map and select some devices I get the message 'Unable to get the device connected information from the switch, click here to go to the snapshot page.' On other devices I find I get all the switch connection details. I have checked the SNMP Credentials, MIBs and CLI cedentials and all are ok. VMWare virtual server discovery
Hi, I cannot understand how the virtual server discovery works exactly. For example: If I add an ESX host how OPM discover the virtual servers inside it? Do I need to specify the Linux and Windows WMI credential first? What are the prerequisite to monitor the virtual servers? Do I need to install the VMWare tools? What if a virtual server is added later? What if a virtual server show "no ip address"? Thanks.

Goodday, Under Device Snapshot, there is a tool called "Browse to <device>". I click on it, it pop up a browser with http://<hostname>, but there is nothing display? Sort of like a page not found when we surf net. What exactly is this tools for? Do i need to configure something in order for it to works? Thanks.

Hi, Under device snapshot, there is a pie chart that indicating Used Space. I have multiple partitions, but there is only one Used Space pie chart. Is that the total of all partition? Thanks.
Consecutive Times value under Device threshold
Hi, For Consecutive Times value under Device threshold setting, if i set it to 2: Does it mean it has to violate threshold > alarm cleared > violate threshold again... then consider 2 times? OR Violate threshold > Violation value increase (without being cleared) ... consider 2 times? Example for Disk Utilization, threshold 80%. If it violate 81% (1 time)... let say it did not get cleared... and now it went to 82%... will this generate alarm? Thanks.
Ubuntu Installation
Hi, I am trying to install OpManager trial into my Ubuntu 6.06, unfortunately still unsuccessful. I have configured and httpd.conf and ssl.conf etc. but getting the following error Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/adventnet/nms/util/InitWebSvr (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:446 no listening sockets available, shutting down Unable to open logs Any help on this subject will much appreciated. regards, amit
Networks Map Display
Hi, Networks Map is an automated diagram based on the discover devices? I have 8 servers discovered with SNMP enabled. When I click on Networks Map, I only see 2 icons, grouped by their IP. There is no line/connection or whatsoever joining them, eventhough the servers are in the same network. Is this expected? Thanks.

Hi. I started here , but got nowhere when I started the prerequisites section. Then I did some Googling around and discovered that Xfree86 isn't even available in most of the top Linux distributions anymore. So, is there a definitive user guide or set of instructions on this forum (or anywhere else) for installing OpManager on Ubuntu? Thanks. steven

Is there a way to install opmanager 9 on a linux box without xfree86? My understanding is opmanager is a tomcat based web server with a mysql backend. Why is xfree86 needed? Utilising CCTV
Hi, May i know what is the practice of using CCTV? Or the difference between CCTV and Dashboard? Both CCTV and Dashboard widgets are syncrhonise, except dashboard is not auto refresh? I read that it can be grouped and cater for diferent users (network...server...etc). I created one CCTV, and it appeared in a different window. But how do we share that with others? we can just provide a permanent URL link for the CCTV? Thanks.
Opmanager Widgets/CCTV Views
Is there anyway to embedd indvidual widgets from Opmanager in to other websites. we are looking at ways to supply basic info to our end users about server status etc. it would be good if it could be done if not can the CCTV or Dashboard views be displayed with out the options to change them e.g just the content not the controls. either by using a dedacated url or user
Business Views Not Updating Status
We had issues with a couple of battery backups recently that dropped off the network. They have been reset and cleared and are working properly now. The business view where they appear has everything green now. However, the shortcut to that business view on another map still shows red. That filters up through our sub-maps to our main index which also shows that branch as being red. I have reset the server, made all the devices update their status, etc. and nothing seems to turn those shortcuts
Notification rules
Hi I would change notification in two categories, day and night. By day the notifications with normal alarm interval and the night notification with another interval (most high). It's possible to implement this requirement in OpManager?

OpManager Enterprise Probe and Central Server Not Syncing
I'm seen an issue where my central server is not having all the devices from the probe be synced up. The probe has 39 devices on it, and the central server only sees 12. My alarms are also not syncing up, but I believe this is because the device exists on the probe, but not on the central server. Has anyone else seen this, if so, how do I fix it? I can't seem to find a way to force a sync. Thanks, Clint
CentOS install
Hello, I installed OpManager 64bits on a new CentOS 6.2 vm. Installation went fine however when I do a StartOpManagerServer.sh, it stucks at "inside addon check". The first time I use it I saw a few tables created, but I never passed again the "inside addon check". I have already : -copy lib from backup to /usr/lib -delete IPv6 entry from /etc/hosts -change localhost to 127.0.0.1 in the database conf file Please help ! Loïc
opmanager generates hundreds of snmp udp calls per managed device
Hi, Why is opmanager generating so machine snmp calls per minute to a managed server? I have only 5 items in the performance monitor (standard stuff like cpu, memory, etc.) with 1 minute interval. Here is the log from my linux box. The machine w.x.y.z is where I run the opmanager. db2 is the machine being monitored. Cannot show process diagnostics CPU Utilization
Dear Support, I use Opmanager latest version build 9101, I want to check top 10 Processes CPU utilizations on server when I press "process diagnostics" on CPU Utilizations it's show nothing just say in windows "ERROR". Problem monitoring log file
Hello, i have a problem with notification allert for monitor of log file. I have some log file where any day refresh from some script but the system send me the allerts with this message: "La data file del monitoraggio DRNODO3RidondanzaNasServerNT è 0 minuti, e viola la soglia di 1 giorni" translated in English "The date file of the monitoring <Title> is 0 minute and violates the threshold of 1 day" this is have no sense because 0 minute is <= 1 day that i have setted for the limit of threshold.
